"Lɪɢʜᴛs Oᴜᴛ" ʙʏ Nᴀᴠᴇssᴀ Aʟʟᴇɴ
sᴛᴏʀʏ: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
sᴘɪᴄᴇ: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I have to start with this was my first read from this author and I went in blind. I knew it was a masked/stalker romance and, being a 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 girlie, I was definitely down to give it a shot and dove right in...and I'm glad I finally did! I went in with absolutely no expectations...turns out, there was some delicious spice and hilarious banter from the black cat x chaotic hilarious golden retriever in this story and I'm so here for it!
Overall, this was a really fun, fast-paced read with a twisty storyline that kept me entertained while laughing out loud. Not even 10% in and I was laughing out loud at both main characters’ inner (and outer) dialog! 🤣 Aly is a trauma ER nurse with a secret mask kink, social media stalking various online masked man accounts to blow off steam from her constant work schedule. Her favorite is the Faceless Man, who posts online thirst traps religiously three times a week for thousands of feral, fellow masked man fans. Then she drunk texts her on again/off again friend with benefits a screenshot of the Faceless Man asking for some masked fun…getting an instant denial (bummer). Little does she know, her FWB shows his roommate, Josh…not realizing his roommate IS the Faceless Man who is all too willing to give Aly what she wants! Talk about a lucky girl 😂 Insert instalust, online stalking, breaking and entering, delightfully funny, filthy, dominant unhinged shenanigans and you have yourself a fun little stalker romcom. I'm a new Navessa Allen fan! 😏😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s worth mentioning some of the reviews posted about the second half of the story surrounding Aly's estranged cousins/uncle where the plot seems to go on a little tangent. Personally, I didn't really have any issue with it as it actually made sense in the context of the story in my opinion. It introduces several more characters and (I'm guessing) sets up potential subsequent books in the series while tying up this plot in a neat little bow. Is it 💯% factual, no of course not, but that’s the beauty of fiction: it doesn’t have to be! I followed along just fine, enjoyed the plot twists, and laugh out loud moments 🤣 so I didn't have any problem with it and just went along for the ride!
Was this book as dark as I expect my 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊𝖘 to be? Absolutely not. Are there dark themes and descriptions of dark acts? Yep. Did it have spicy, spicy scenes involving a masked, hot, tattooed, morally gray, filthy dominant man taking control and giving us all what we want? 💯%! Did I enjoy it? 𝒀𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒓, 𝑰 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒕! And the fantastically hilarious banter and fun development of the main characters was worth the read in my opinion (I really love them!)
This book is the "lite" edition of dark romance, a dark romcom if that’s such a thing, with a delightfully funny, chaotically sexy, unhinged and morally gray 𝓰𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 𝓻𝓮𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 MMC crossed with 𝖇𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝖈𝖆𝖙, boss lady FMC energy. If you're a hardcore dark romance girl and all the details that entails? You might not like this book. However, if you like funny, rom-coms with a dark theme, light BDSM with questionable toys, filthy talking, hot masked men with random plot twists and a strong FMC? You definitely want to read this one! I loved it and I'll definitely be back for book #2, whenever that one comes out 😊 I haven't read B&BB but I'm told this is similar FYI.
Bottomline: It's a spicy, fun read that will have you simultaneously laughing out loud and falling in love with the main characters and their fur baby, Fred the cat. 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑠𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟. 🔪😉 Let that marinate for a minute... Read it, you're welcome lol! 😜
OH! And PS the audio version of this book is 𝓹𝓱𝓮𝓷𝓸𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓵! I don't usually listen to audio books BUT the male narrator deserves a medal and an award! Literally the BEST!

When I say do the audio book I really mean it. The narration, specifically the MMC, is absolutely incredible and delivers the story perfectly. It’s spicy, funny, sweet, and an element of danger/suspense that keeps the story moving and faced paced. I started this book in a book slump and I think it’s cured me!
Read this if you’re in the mood for…
- dark romance (could be a good beginner option!)
- light stalking (lol)
- hurt/comfort scenes
- banter
Per usual for dark romance, I would recommend reading the TW before starting! If you’re comfortable with those then I think this would be a good beginner dark romance. There’s a good balance of spice and plot and banter that keeps it fun to read. It breaks up the dark elements of it with other moments. The romance of the book is actually very sweet as well and the vulnerability while they share their pasts gives great moments.
Here are a few of my favorite things….
- Josh’s pov. That is all.
- the inside jokes they share and how it’s written so you feel apart of it too
- THE AUDIO BOOK! DO IT!
- the way he asks her to be his girlfriend and then switches to his pov and he’s so excited and can’t stop smiling because she said yes
This might be my go to dark romance recommendation!

Masked men on TikTok turned into a romance novel?! Count me in! 🤩
This book was seriously so much fun to read! It had me laughing, clutching my lady pearls, and getting all giddy! ☺️
Aly is a nurse that works nights in the hospital ER that has an obsession with watching masked men, especially one specific one, The Faceless Man! 😏 Little does she know what was in store for her with this man.
Josh is a high tech hacker who’s roommate Tyler used to “date” Aly. One night Aly was feeling a bit frisky while watched her masked videos and decided to send Tyler a clip after months of not talking to see if he’d ever act something out like that with him. He instantly shut her down and explained he was with someone else. Tyler showed Josh and little to Tyler’s knowledge that Faceless man, was Josh’s alter ego. 🤯
Josh decides to take measures into his own hands and pursue Aly and her “fantasy’s” as she has commented on every one of his videos. To him, an expert hacker, it became a chase he was willing to try as he remembered how attractive she was from when she came over with Tyler. 😉
Aly had no idea what was coming for her but what she thought was just a fantasy turned reality real quickly and the story only went up from there. 🙃
Aly and Josh are seriously the most fun couple I’ve read in a long time and as the book states, “the couple that slays together stays together”, and you’ll just have to read more to find out!
Love this book so much, I couldn’t put it down! One of my favorite reads for sure. Josh is the ultimate book husband/boyfriend and I’d love to be Aly if I could 🤭
Definitely recommend! 10/10! If you need a good laugh with a little suspense and a perfect amount of spice to keep you invested, that will also keep you turning pages, definitely pick this one up! 😍

Overall Plot 5💫
The perfect mix of golden retriever yet Psycho. Kinda?
He's thr S.O to live out the fantasies and be that little bit of dark and obsessed you want. The truth behind why women dream of thr bad giy or tjr villain- it'd the be the villain for ME. Ugh
At just 20percent I' said im POSITIVE I'm in love. Tell me where IRL I get me a Josh cause damn.. the smut hasn't even started between these two but with Navessa's writing style, the banter, the Possessive. The crazy and the public claiming. It is SOOO GOOD
Adding another level, our MMC does NOT want to be a psychopath- a serial killer or anything so horrible since his dad was but..be does wsnt to enjoyvsome fantasies with our gorgeous FMC.
As they start talking, and he stays secret, she tries to figure it out while knowing he's stalking a whole other level of spicy tease Playful talk comes into play👌❤️🔥
So well done on each level. Good paced and fun!
More than just a villain, more than stalker this has PLOT, substance and is soooo well thought out including following thr brain path in FMC and MMC
5🌶5🌟 5🥵(teaseing)
Turn abours fair play...and she kinda stalked him first ( internet or not 😉)
