I already owned 2 Eero pro6 devices, but I needed another one to reach my back yard. Luckily I found this refurbished Eero Pro. It was easy super easy to set up on the Eero app took about 5 mins. The app features are good it lets you see which devices are connecting and have zero issues with it. I would purchase another device with confidence. Pros: • Price • Fast shipping • Extends my internet without any connectivity issues • Easy to set up- 5 mins tops • Nice sleek design • Signal and stability is great • App features- You can dim the front light Cons: • The device gets warmer than my other Eero pro 6s. This was solved by purchasing small fans to cool the device.

I am a technical guy. I have a degree in computer engineering, and I have worked in IT for decades. So... would I recommend Eero? Yes, for non-technical people. Because to set one up, you don't need to know technical details... Provided you're "upgrading" an existing setup. I have a current setup... DSL modem with internal router. I have an additional router for internal network, and this will supplement both (and eventually replace). And install is extremely simple. First, pick one of the "pucks" as your gateway. You will need to connect it to the router via the network cable. And connect the power with the included USB-C mini-powerbrick. Now download the Eero app on your smartphone (presumably, your phone already knew how to talk to your network), and it will do the rest. You can have it take over the existing network (which you can disconnect after it's done), or you can give it a new network name and passphrase, and voila, another network. Then setting up the new mesh node is as simple as walk to where you want it, make sure there's power, plug in the other node and run the Eero setup again. It will know you have an existing network and connect the new node to it, extending the network. Any internal updates, verifying speed, etc. are all handled automatically in the app. The first attempt (getting the gateway node) did take a little while to get working. Somehow it keeps timing out, but a couple re-attempts and it worked just fine. It's not really any faster, but it seems to provide better Wifi coverage around the two-stories in my place. Finding the technical details, like IP address, subnet, and stuff, requires digging through the Eero app. So technical people may be a little frustrated. But there is also a lot of power in the app, like assigning profiles to people / machines to track their internet usage, and start filtering them (parental controls, et al). If you really need it, you can get VPN service for extra cost, as well as other powers through Eero Plus subscription. This is not the latest model, but but the older 802.11ac model, and it works fine. If you want the Wifi 6 or 6E you'll need to pay more. But it'd work about the same (albeit, quite a bit faster). Overall, Eero is a mesh wifi system for non-technical people who really likes the Amazon ecosystem. It will want to integrate with your Amazon login, and that may turn off some people. If you don't mind that, it is very simple to setup and get working, and can be customized. Getting them refurbed means you get them at a lower cost, which, if you don't need the latest and greatest, is just fine.

This is an update on the replacement that I received. The same problem as with the original one, except that whereas the original one would just silently drop its speed down to 100 meg, this one fails and its light turns red, and after a manual reset, its new speed is 100 meg. The Eero tech support spent one hour testing remotely my first refurbished device and concluded that there was something wrong with the ports of that device. But they also told me that the warranty on that device had expired long ago. So, they told me to use my Amazon return period to get a new replacement, which I did. So: 1- BUYER BEWARE: The Amazon claim that these refurbished like new devices are covered by the same warranty as the new devices is FACTUALLY INCORRECT (well. at least it was/is factually incorrect in the case of that particular device)! Good luck getting yourself in the middle of resolving the conflicting claims of warranty coverage and expired warranty between Amazon and Eero if you buy one of these refurbished devices and it fails after your Amazon return period. 2- BUYER BEWARE: Both the first and the replacement devices start at 1 gig cable connection speed, and after a while (ranging from a few minutes to a few of hours) their speed drops to 100 meg. It is a bit strange for two refurbished devices to fail the same way. It may be the case that such behavior is inherent in the design of these devices, i.e., a new one would behave the same way too. 3- BUYER BEWARE: Although these devices are supposed to support 1 gig cable connection speeds on both ports, neither device gave me more more than 500 meg on the second port during the short time while the other port's connection speed was in fact 1 gig. Again, I suspect that such behavior is inherent in the design of these devices, i.e., a new one would behave the same way too. My setup consists of three Eero Pro 6e devices that work perfectly well. It may be the case that in fact (the claim and testing of the Eero tech support notwithstanding) both devices that I tried worked exactly as they should have and: 4- BUYER BEWARE: Issues 2 and 3 above may arise from the fact that in spite of claims of compatibility, adding an Eero pro to a mesh of Eero Pro 6e does not actually work as expected (i.e., the speed of the Eero pro drops to 100 meg). I immediately returned the replacement unit for a full refund. 5- BUYER BEWARE: If you are considering this product, make sure you test the device as much as you can before its Amazon return period expires. Unless, that is, you wish to navigate the claims and counter claims of "new device warranty coverage" between Amazon and Eero if you run into trouble later.
