I bought about a dozen different types at a Joanns sale months ago, and this particular variety stood out as clearly superior. With the store closing, I am glad they are available on Amazon. What's good about it? I do amigurumi projects mostly, and for some reason these patterns often recommend acrylic yarn. Maybe because it's cheap. If you want your project to actually turn out looking nice though, I would go with cotton. as it doesn't produce so much lint / fuzz. Although you will probably not need the heat and laundering resistance that cotton provides in this case, I still think it's worth it, especially if you are selling your work. Even among cotton yarns though, this one is just better. I compared it to K-C and Caron cotton yarns in particular, and it definitely doesn't split nearly as much - by split, I mean the individual yarn threads unwinding from the others when hooking or pulling through. It feels to the touch like any cotton yarn, but has an almost rubber-like pliability when working with it that is hard to describe, but definitely pleasant. Not sure what they do in processing to get it that way, but other yarns don't have it. It appears slightly finer weight than these others as well, but I don't think it actually is, because the weight : length ratio ends up the same. It is probably just the total smoothness (absence of fluff) around the perimeter. I've used it with hook sizes ranging from 3 to 4 with no problem - though if you are making a trivet or coaster or something designed to lay on a flat surface, the listed size of 4 is probably quite right, because anything smaller tends to make it curl up (from the stitches being too tight). What are the downsides? Well, it is a little bit more expensive than most for the amount you get, but worth it in my opinion. I am a little disappointed about the range of color choices as well - particularly purple - there is only one shade that actually looks purple in person (aptly named purple), while there are a multitude of greens and golds. I tried mixing it with other brands' yarn that did have more colors, and the quality change is apparent. Unlike some yarn skeins, you cannot easily pull out the opposite end to work with either - it's buried in the middle somewhere. Whatever winding process they use also puts quite a lot of waves into the yarn at the center. This doesn't matter if you are just making stitches with it - it's not tangled or anything. But if for some reason you actually just want the straight piece of yarn to show (doll hair for instance) the outer pieces are going to be 'straight' and the inner pieces 'curly'. If your floor has carpet it will stick like mad to that, but that's just a property of the natural fiber....

High quality yarn from Lion. This is my first time using cotton yarn and it’s great for the couple projects I’ve done so far (amigurumi and a purse). There’s no stretch which I like for the purse. The yarn is smooth with no fraying, the color is bright and the texture is soft and doesn’t irritate my fingers while I work. Definitely recommend and will continue using this line

Love this for my crocheting and it’s good weight, value for money and washability and works well. Good yarn for your hobby with durability.

This is 100% (mercerized) 4/medium worsted cotton. It’s intended to have a different texture and is much more durable than conventional cotton yarn without the loss of a nice feel. The feel and look of a higher quality is obvious once you touch a finished piece. Yes, the yarn feels different than standard yarn. It’s supposed to. It’s processed differently for a reason. This particular yarn is perfect for any project that will be used or handled frequently. It is stronger, doesn’t produce heavy lint, doesn’t get fuzzy or pill up, doesn’t split easily, and is more resistant to mildew. It holds its shape better than regular cotton yarn, and withstands many many washes and tumble dries on a medium heat setting. (Don’t use bleach or fabric softener.) I disagree with the reviews that call it “thread” or dk weight. Not true. Yes, there is a dk version of this brand, but it clearly says dk on the front part of the label. The thickness is comparable of an identical piece stitched with standard cotton yarn. The yarn swatches up just as noted on the label: Crochet Gauge (4in x 4in) 14 single crochets x 19 rows using a G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook Knit Gauge (4in x 4in) 20 stitches x 28 rows using #6 (4 mm) knitting needles Photo 1: My current 24/7 yarn stash is from in-store and Amazon purchases over a several month time span. The overall quality and color of yarn is consistent across the board, regardless of where it was purchased from. This stash is ever changing because of the volume of crocheting I do in my spare time. Photo 2: I use a LOT of this yarn to make simple dishcloths/washcloths for charity fundraisers in our local area. They are a hot commodity because of the durability and how they hold their vibrant color for a long time. Definitely better than any store bought dishcloth/washcloth. Honestly, I can’t make them fast enough. If you’re unsure about Lion Brand’s 24/7 cotton yarn or if you’re unfamiliar with mercerized cotton, try a skein. Don’t judge the yarn until you’ve finished the project. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. This is my honest opinion from my personal experience with this product. I purchase all items at the posted price and do not receive any product or incentive for providing a review.

The best cotton yarn around! I wouldn't buy anything else unless I couldn't find a color that I wanted in this yarn

Good quality color true. Not sure would use to make dishcloths but I am making placemats. Like the feel easy to use. Did notice cannot pull from center of skein. Just a preference for me.

Love Lionbrand yarn, but this was mislabeled. It was supposed to be Aqua but as you can see it’s pink.

Soft, smooth and doesn't pill or split easily, but is a little expensive for cotton yarn. Also a little thinner than the average worsted-weight yarn.
