This book helped me prepare in 1 month. I bought the book after I took the GREs and figured I would give the MATs a shot. It was actually "fun" to go through the book- the writer knows how to have a sense of humor about boring topics. It takes every category that you may see on the MAT and tells you things you should study and how to study them. It was super easy to follow along with and nice that there is a diagnostic test in the beginning so you can see where you're scoring to begin with. Then, there are 7 practice tests at the end of the book to go through as you're studying. Overall, really helpful!!! Highly suggest buying as it will help you figure out whats important to focus on and vice versa. After just 3 weeks of having the book, I scored in the 69th percentile. Good luck!

Super helpful! Not a boring read. Tons of information so I would study/ plan to get into this book ahead of time. Breaks it down exactly how to figure out how to answer the question. Gives tons of tips and tricks on the tricky questions that could be either or. Got the score I needed to be admitted into the school! Would definitely recommend. Does have a huge vocabulary section and offers additional help online if need.

This was a fantastic review book! There were lots of practice tests which was really helpful in seeing different questions and topics. I liked how the book was broken down by topic with mini reviews of each so you got to practice in depth and broad questions. I also like that there were pages of information to review so everything really was in the same place. I scored a 440, in the 96th percentile so I’d say it’s worth it!

i just took my MAT and scored in the 90th percentile. I will say that almost nothing I studied in the book was on my test. No norse/roman mythology, no roman numerals, no word scrambles, no science, no historical figures (almost no names at all!). There was a good amount of math. Most of it was vocabulary. The real benefit of this book is the assessment test in the front, the strategies, and the practice tests in the back. In my experience, the MAT is more about understanding the format and realizing ways in which the test is trying to trick you. So focus on that and you'll do great! Also worth nothing: the test is administered digitally. I had a moment of anxiety when I realized I couldn't just come back to questions that i'd left blank. Try to take a digital practice test, too, or else you'll have to spend a bit more time finding your footing!

Y'ALL. I ordered this book intending to take my time and study for at least a month before taking the MAT. However, I ended up taking the MAT much sooner because of a misunderstanding on my part, and I only had three days. I carefully read through the beginning chapters regarding strategy, skimmed the remaining chapters and study lists, and took every single practice test as quickly as I could. I thought I was doomed....but I ended up scoring in the 98th percentile! In fact, after doing the practice tests in the book, I found the actual test to be much easier! I'm honestly BLOWN AWAY at how well this book prepared me for the MAT. I highly recommend it! Also, I found the author to have a great sense of humor, which really helped me push through. Seriously, if you're taking the MAT buy this book. Now.

I loved this! This really helped me pass my exam on my first try. These practice tests are much harder than the actual exam in my opinion. This book did a nice job at teaching you how to take this format of an exam and really prepped you for each subject area.

This was the only book that I used and it was very helpful. At first I was skeptical because the book is a little older, however it still works!

This was very helpful. At the time I bought this I only had 2 weeks to study for the test. I was nervous since the Grad School I wanted to go to asked for a certain score. After going through the book and taking only 3 practice tests I felt confident. I realized that this test wasn't as stressful or intimidating as the GRE. I love this kind of test more because it makes sense to have it standardized. Whenever tests add a writing section I hate it because you can't actually standardize it, even if you have multiple graders looking at it. The MAT also had a more reasonable amount being not graded (20 questions) while the GRE has an entire section that does nothing for you.
