I purchased this splitter so that I could have a mirror image of my monitor on my 42 inch plasma tv (which has a VGA input, obviously), and it works great. The image on the TV is definitely high definition and the monitor image quality was unaffected. Each cable running from the splitter is <15 ft, and I used gold plated VGAs. There is no lag between video and audio. Even streamed shows from fox.com (simpsons) come in beautifully. Email text on my tv is crisp and very readable, even from the couch. It truly delivered everything I expected. As for the unit itself, it is metal casting and seems very durable. The female connectors, and all three, are very sturdy and allowed for a tight, secure fit. Also important to note is that the unit has remained cool to the touch (so far). Overall, I am very satisfied. If you are looking to project the same image to two monitors, or one monitor and one high def TV, then this is your answer.

I know there are as many uses for these as one can imagine so I will just say how we used it for anyone applicable. Our church has a computer that outputs to multiple video cards. One feeds a monitor, another feeds the displays, and we always wanted to feed a second monitior and the back "foldback" screen a different feed. Thus allowing us to show the preacher messages, the time, previews on what was next on his slide deck, etc.. This unit works perfectly splitting the signal from a VGA port into two output signals. We did not have any resolution or quality issues. Our initial concern was splitting a signal (Monitor #2 / Foldback) and then having a good picture when it transmitted through a long cable to the projectors on the ceiling. As soon as we booted the system up, our fears proved to be unjustified. Thanks to this unit, we now have valuable tools to provide information to our preacher without disrupting service.

I had run an approximately 100' SVGA cable through a drop ceiling and was having trouble with electrical interference coming from florescent lights and other power sources running in the space. This item did the trick perfectly, and at a very reasonable price.

It worked beautifully to amplify the signal for one week (with only three hours total of usage). It quit working after a week of being installed; after contacting monoprice, they simply told me to return it for a refund, rather than offering to send another out to me immediately. So I've had to wait to get another amplifier in from another manufacturer with poor video quality in the meantime. Poor quality product, and poor customer service.

It didn't do the job I wanted. I took it to the storage area where it collects dust. The TV said it had no signal while the computer screen worked okay when the computer was turned on, but it read a message to check the connections when I left it in standby. The monitor didn't do that when this unit was not in line. It does put out two signals. I checked by switching the cables. But I'm not sure about the amplification or the quality of the signal. I was attempting to run a 50 ft. cable to the tv so maybe the signal deteriorated at that length. But that is why I bought this booster, so I could run the length. Maybe it's just my equipment that doesn't read it. I don't know. In short, it works but it doesn't do what I want it to do.

This video splitter works reasonably well for lower resolutions and low dot clock frequencies, and produces fairly accurate images (compared to directly connecting) for the lower resolutions and dot frequencies. It is far better than using a simple two-way split cable. However, it has ghosting that becomes very obvious as you get to higher resolutions and pixel frequencies. By the time I get to my preferred 1900*1440 or 1600*1200 at 85Hz modes (dot clock below 350MHz -- well below the 400MHz this device claims to support), the ghosting is almost as strong as text and over ten pixels horizintally offset, plus a little extra signal bounce just to make it blurry. I have tried to eliminate or reduce the ghosting by replacing the cables with better cables, shorter cables, longer cables, all to no avail. Using the same cables without the splitter results in an image that is ghost-free at all resolutions and frequencies. Using the same cables with another splitter results in ghost-free images. In addition, this device does not propagate (or provide its own) DDC information, meaning some operating systems (like Windows) are unwilling to consider the monitor as anything more than a 'generic' VGA monitor without specific tweaking (affecting available resolutions, frequencies, and colour calibration). This also tends to prevent (for example) a laptop from noticing that it has been connected to the splitter or disconnected from the splitter, so it does not automatically switch to the monitor when connected or to the panel when disconnected.

I'm running an 18' VGA cable ( actually two cables a 15' + 3') from the source to the splitter. I have a 6' cable from the splitter to one 19" monitor and a 15' cable from the splitter to another 24" monitor. The picture on both monitors is excellent. The splitter itself was a bit larger than expected (so check the dimensions) but the case is metal so maybe this allows it to run nice and cool and I was able to tuck it away out of sight. When you buy your cables make sure you have the correct connectors on the ends and double check the lengths you surely don't want to be caught short, it doesn't hurt to have a bit extra.

I purchased this splitter to install a second monitor for a security system 100 feet away from the dvr. Hook-up is easy; simply plug in the input cable and the two output cables and plug in power cable...that's it. The unit seems well made, it has a metal cover and the ports are nice and solid with thick connecting screws. Please note this is a splitter for 15 pin VGA cables, not the newer DVI plugs. Assuming this product lasts, which I am fully expecting it will, I would definitely not hesitate to purchase another if the need arises.
