Worked like a charm. Needed to watch a YouTube video to figure out what the lights on the front meant and what it would look like if the wiring was “correct” but after that was super helpful.

We recently finished our basement and I ran four network cables before drywall installation. This tool gave me piece of mind that I correctly had all eight wires in the right spot. Very easy to use.

Had to install half a dozen CAT 5E runs in the house as well as some custom patch cable and wanted something to test continuity and correct wiring end to end and this fills the bill nicely. It's not an analyzer just a continuity tester.

Works great, no issues. Antiquated RJ-11 seems unnecessary, but it's the best value I could find. Would recommend for a simple cable tester. This is a relatively 'dumb' device, but it gets the job done well enough.

Broken out of the box - doesn't show pins 6,7, or 8. Verified with new tester and cables.

I tested it on a cable I knew to be bad and it showed the broken line as expected. Tested a known good one and it's fine. I wish the LEDs were just a little brighter, it's hard to see when outdoors, but that's not a typical use I guess. It did show that a cable I made was good but then the cable still didn't work. Learned that the connection in the crimped cable was bad. It'd be nice to have a tester that actually tried to send and receive data to test as well.

Does exactly what it says it will. A must have for anyone making their own cable. I looked at a few that came as part of a kit but finally decided to go with the Monoprice model because I trusted them to sell a quality product. I was not disappointed. I have no problem with it using a 9V battery. This is the kind of voltage it takes to get a quality signal through a long run of Cat5 or Cat6 cable. It sure beats using 6 AA or AAA batteries.

For the price it works well. I use it commercially and the range is surprising for testing lines. Not as nice as a digital one of course. It is not heavy duty by any means but a good cheap back up tool to have
