- THE IDEA So my plan was to find a sub to place under/behind the couch to get a tactile feel of bass for example the feel of explosions during actions scenes, the feel when Godzilla steps down. Wasn't looking for soul-destroying bass, but enough to "feel" it go thu your body. -THE BUZZ I read thru other reviews saying they hear an audible buzz due to bad electronics but thought maybe they just got unlucky, but sure enough, I ended up getting the same issues others have. it's a buzz that's a bit high-pitched you can barely hear, but enough to annoy you. It's a shame that a company knowing these subs have these types of issues does nothing about it. I MIGHT have kept it if wasn't for that buzz but I wasn't having it..especially the wife. I went the "Earthquake Sound CP8 Couch Potato Slim 8-Inch" Good LORD! More on that later. - POWER I had to crank this sub all the way up to get SOME rumble effect but it didn't feel deep enough, especially for a 10-inch. - THE SOLUTION I returned this sub and took a shot with the Earthquake Sound CP8 Couch Potato Slim 8-Inch, and let me tell you, the bass that comes out of this sub is sublime. Quality bass and hits deep when it needs it. Testing this sub with: Battle of Los Angeles and Master and Commander, just incredible. The sound of the cannons rip thru you in a good way, making you feel like you're in the scene. The crazy thing is that I can't even go past halfway through the power level on the dial. I'm at 35% and the bass is crazy good. If you're looking for a sub for tight spaces get the Earthquake sub, it's an 8-inch that sounds like a 10-12 sub. - FINAL THOUGHTS I don't mean to bash this product but I wrote this so people don't waste their time like I basically did. If Monoprice fixed the buzzing issues and added a bit more power that could sell them at a $199 price point all day. I think people will like it barely enough to keep it, thinking they can't get better. The Earthquake Sound CP8 Couch Potato Slim 8-Inch comes in at $295 and is worth every penny, get this one instead! No, I'm in no way affiliated with Earthquake, I'm just an average guy looking for a good sub to throw behind my couch. Hope this review helps somebody make a smart purchase.

Just fits under the bed, making the TV at the foot of the bed sound almost as good as the one in the living room.

The Monoprice SSW-12 Powered Slim Subwoofer offers a compelling solution for those seeking robust bass without sacrificing valuable floor space. With its slim, low-profile design, this 12-inch subwoofer can be discreetly placed under furniture or mounted on the wall, making it ideal for apartments or rooms where space is at a premium. Despite its compact size, the SSW-12 delivers a satisfying low-end punch, enhancing movie soundtracks and music with noticeable depth. The inclusion of on-wall mounting brackets adds versatility, allowing users to position the subwoofer optimally for their space. While it may not compete with larger, more expensive subwoofers in terms of sheer power, the SSW-12 provides excellent value for its price, delivering quality bass in a space-saving package. Overall, the Monoprice SSW-12 is a solid choice for those needing a compact subwoofer that doesn't compromise on performance.

For "serious" viewing I have a full 7.1 10 foot screened home theater. But quite often, even for older films, we'll just leave vertical a 50 inch 4K flatscreen that sits on a coffee table between the theater seats and the screen, relying on a decent soundbar for the soundtrack. Easy, Convenient. and.... well, up to now lacking sonic fullness. This Monoprice 8 inch powered sub thus made a great addition to the theater for when it was not being used as a theater, but as a casual viewing place. Once set with the balance and crossover right for 'the bar' the sound went from TVish to filmish right nicely. No, it'll not compete in output or punch with the 2 large subs used in the full theater system, but for casual viewing -- for just filling out the sound spectrum for older media that lacks a truly deep bottom -- it works just fine. And it sits right under the table holding the flatscreen so out'a sight and out'a mind. The auto turn on feature is a plus here. Sound is reasonably deep and reasonably tight -- at up to fairly loud (but less than full theater) volume. Seen for what it is it is a good purchase. Nicely designed and built. Very fairly priced.

Just WOW. Did not expect the sound this put out. Just wanted to add a little bass to my kitchen after doing ceil speakers. This unit did not disappoint. Works as it states.

So, let's be realistic. This is a 200 dollar low profile sub. This is not going to shake things off the wall. (That's what my HSU VTF-15H is for, best home theater sub for the money.) I have a set of M-Audio 2.1 powered speakers for my computer setup and it was lacking on the low end. This sub helps fill in the void and it does so without taking up a lot of real estate. (Currently set up vertically, using the stands provided.) Acoustically, it's not perfect, but I still have some adjustments to make and give the speaker a bit more burn-in time. I really wanted the Monoprice THX 10" sub, but just couldn't justify the additional 300 bucks for the existing setup. As of now, I'm pleased with the sound and will be happier as I build my eq profiles. I would recommend this for anyone who has a small setup.

Me parece perfecto!
