I bought this book in more respects to a novelty. I thought it would help me speak with my teenage child. Not only did it help! They gave me new perspective in the difference between when I grew up and how I'm raising them son now. They're shared a lot of great stories with my children. This book helped and it was an awesome price

Love how it starts with the literal basics to get someone who doesn’t normally share get more comfortable through the progression of the book. I did have to order a replacement as the first one came damaged.

I had seen these journals via Instagram for a while now and I knew that I wanted to get one for my dad. I had searched relentlessly on here for one and I am so glad that I eventually landed on this one. Not only is this very well made, but it had such beautiful quotes throughout the journal, as well as very well and thought out questions. For somebody with a very militant and “non-emotional” father, I cannot wait for him to receive this because I know that this will not only bring up so many beautiful memories, but be beautifully therapeutic for him as well. Absolutely perfect and thoughtful gift for a father❤️

I got this and opened it up to take a look at the kinds of questions I can expect to ask my dad to get his life story recorded. I could practically hear my dad’s voice as I thought about the way he’ll answer each question. And I know my kids will treasure this record! I am so excited to get his life story that I immediately went back and bought one for my father-in-law to fill out for us, as well as the mom version for my mother and mother-in-law to out too! What a great way to share family history!!

Click to play video In my video review of this journal I marked each section beforehand so I could flip through the journal quickly so that others could see what it was like without having to spend too much time watching a review. I apologize for the length of the video but there is a lot to share. I do share that I thought this journal was tailored more toward a male than a female- only because when I think of the males in my life, when it comes to writing and journaling- this wasn’t something that they ever did. As I go through the journal, I share the many quotes in it and also the title of the section along with some questions inside the section, if I can. Please know that there are many, many questions I wasn’t able to share in the sections and some sections where I didn’t share any questions- as this video can’t be terribly long (and it’s five minutes with the little I could share). My favorite section in this journal is titled “Dad Trivia.” It reminded me of my dad even though we didn’t have dad trivia, per se, but we did have “dad jokes”. In my video review I do share some of the trivia things they ask about the dad journaling but please know that there were many pages I couldn’t- and they were all comprehensive and fun- only making me wish I had my dad around so I could give him this journal- or get a copy and sit down and ask him the questions and fill it out on my own (and many people with living parents and grandparents may want to do this, get journals and record this information while they ask questions as I wish it was something I took the time to do). I think that the author of this journal did a good job tailoring the topics and questions they have for the journaler (the dad), making them more, not interesting, but engaging for the writer. I thought that many of the things asked in this journal were quite unique and definitely things I’d never seen in any other journal before. In fact, I hope they have the exact same version for a mother as I’d love to be able to share some of the things they asked. In my video review I thought one of the most original things asked in the journal was what the individual's room was like growing up, (I believe it was in childhood and then young adulthood)- and it instantly took me back to how messy my room could sometimes be and all the books I’d have in it. Never have I had a journal entertain me so quickly as this one- also something I think might help for males who you might never find journaling outside this one. As I go through the journal in the video I did use paper to mark off the sections so please excuse me as I flip through the sections and remove the paper. As you can see I did this by folding a half sheet of paper over and putting the section inside it. So if you want to think about the size of the journal, know that all the paper I remove as I go through the sections in my video is a regular white size of paper folded in half.
