I am not savvy when it comes to electronic terms but I’m just going to explain it how I know best. I work remotely and recently relocated from my living room (decent WiFi connection) to my bedroom (absolutely no connection). A family member suggested the Orbi’s to me and I told myself if this does not work, they’re getting sent back the same day that I receive them. It’s been 3 days since I received them and I can’t tell you how much everything has approved. Still working remotely from my room but the coverage this system provides is out of this world. It’s extremely easy to set up (took about an hour) and the satellite’s work super fast. I also have a ring floodlight camera above my garage that could never hold a signal or wouldn’t connect to WiFi but that issue has disappeared since getting these. We placed one satellite in the master bedroom and the other in the laundry room (near the garage) and the quality for all devices connected works amazingly!

I had a older Lynksys wifi router which at its first offering was top of the line. However we started getting many dropped connections after a few years of using it. Its parent company is well respected, Cisco, and they do make a competitive WIFi model similar to this Netgear Orbi. But just for aesthetic's alone, the Orbi looks nicer in appearance and not square boxy like the Lynksys. I like that the Orbi app interface is easy to understand. It was easy to set up. You have one year warranty and free technical support which I did use once because I was confused during the set up asking to create two separate passwords. Basically one password is for logging into your router. The other password is if you want to log into the system on the internet. There are passwords pre-assigned that are labeled under the main router and satellite router ( I bought both). However I recommend changing the password as the pre-assigned passwords might be easy to hack. You also get one years free Orbi “Armor” protection that scans the routers periodically to make sure your system is secure. I didn't know it was advised to not only have anti-virus on your devices but also important to have security on the router itself. Because that is the first entry into your WiFi network once it leaves your modem ( from cable company) into your base router. This may be one of the reasons I was getting dropped wifi in my previous router because that is one the telltale signs of a possible hack in. Is it expensive? Yes, but I bought the second satellite router too because I live in a two story house. With many devices connected, Roku, Ring, computers, Apple devices, etc. You probably only need the base router if your in a apartment or smaller home.

My only beef is the ridiculous speed tests the system does for the first day or 2. My old system was around 40up/60down. This system after being up and running for an hour? 900up/950down. I was amazed, and skeptical. Another hour or two I did another test, which was 750up/750down. It took a day or two to finally even out at 90up/90down. It has been that way since (2 months so far). So its definitely an improvement over my old system. Coverage is waaay better. Speeds are better, but not 900up and down better lol. Makes me wonder how accurately its tests are, but whatever. Good system. Slick looking nodes. Little big though. Included a pic to show size. Would recommend. Shell out the money if you can afford it.

I'm giving a 4 instead of a 3 because this is the second set that I have purchased. 2 different houses. Setup and installation were simple, however, my app tells me this one is offline all the time, which is weird. The first set was 2 story 3500 sq ft and had no issues other than the occasional "purple light" that required a reboot or a complete unplug for 60 seconds. The second set is for 2 story 2900 sq ft house. Both are connected via ethernet to the main Orbi but for some reason, this one often goes offline despite showing no visual indications. Could be a user error since 1st works well.
