Great personal ice maker, purchased this for a pole barn “cabin” where we only have a mini fridge with a freezer compartment the size of an egg carton, just not as long. Pros: Makes ice fairly quickly. The controls are easy to read and the low water indicator is great so you don’t have to keep checking. Compact, easy to store, nice design. Ice basket comes out, making the scooper just an added item that most probably wouldn’t use, but nice to have in times you would. I have only used the large size ice maker, I would use small if I intended to crush the ice or make a blended beverage. There is a drain plug on the bottom, no need to tip the entire bucket over. Cons: It take up to two cycles for the ice to make the correct size (large). The handle is flimsy and would not depend on using it to carry the machine anywhere. Suggestions: Use filtered or bottle water, not tap. Start making ice about 30 minutes before intending to use, keep the machine going. Use an insult aged ice bucket to keep ice, or place in a freezer or cooler. * The ice maker does not keep the ice, if you want that you will need to pay a much higher price point. Let the maker cycle through at least 2 times to get the expected size cube. When finished making ice, drain well and dry the inside of the ice/water well, to prevent mold/mildew. Keep in mind this is a portable ice maker, not an industrial ice maker. It does the job very well at a decent price point. I would highly recommend.

Works well. We don’t have room in our kitchen for a refrigerator that has a built-in ice maker. This fits nicely on our countertop and doesn’t take up an obnoxious amount of space. I really like the plug on the bottom for draining and cleaning the machine. Ice fills frequently enough to keep up with two people pulling from it, but one bucket of ice is needed for a 20-32oz cup of water because so much melts when filling. We are also frequently refilling the reservoir, which requires removing the ice bucket to avoid overfilling. Important not to overfill so the ice doesn’t rest in the water reserve. The machine is kind of loud and it likes to work in short stretches. Some of this is due to ice making a narrow pyramid in the basket, which tricks the machine into thinking it’s full. I would opt for a bigger machine if you expect more than 2 people to regularly use it. But this machine is working well for us.

It has been three months since I purchased this unit and I could not be more happy with it. My previous nugget ice maker was a GE Profile Opal and it finally officially died after about two years. By the time it died, I was glad to see it go. The profile has a larger ice bin, but is indescribably more difficult to keep clean and maintain. The GE Profile also has a design flaw that allows metal shavings from the auger to build up into a sludge inside a hidden reservoir tank that is not cleaned with the regular recommended (extensive) cleanings. Only three months into this unit, but I have not cleaned it as often as recommended, yet I’ve seen zero signs. When I do clean it, it’s extremely easy and quick. Great unit so far, definitely recommend. Ice bin is small, but It replenishes quickly.

Makes high quality nugget ice and is faster than 15 minutes. I have used this for 2 years now, and it makes enough for all 4 kids to have ice for their water bottles before they leave for school. It’s worth the money. Not silent but the sound doesn’t bother anyone here.

[Review has photos with 12 inch rulers included showing ice makers size.] I purchased and have been using since June 11, and I love it. Followed all directions including letting it stand 24 hours upright before doing anything as well as doing a cleaning cycle. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this ice maker compared to others. This one fits my budget, countertop space, and ice making desires. (Some of the larger units are just too big for my countertop!) Several reviews mention it being noisy, but I find it’s no noisier than my fridge and its built-in automatic ice cube maker. (See exception note below.) Also others mentioned how the basket full light will come even though the basket is not, but I just use the scooper to even out the nuggets in the basket and clear the dispensing chute and it will resume. Note, I have the same problem with my fridge’s built-in automatic ice maker if some of the cubes are stacked higher on one side of its bin and blocks the sensor; I have to level out the ice in it too. I use distilled water in the Nugget ice maker to limit mineral build up since the water supply at my house has heavy mineral content. Although it makes ice fairly quickly. Don’t expect this ice maker to meet the needs of a houseful of people, but for 2 folks that use the ice throughout the day, it’s more than enough! I haven’t tried bagging the excess and storing in my freezer as some reviews suggest, and I suspect that would result in one clump of ice all frozen together based on experiences with bagged Sonic ice that I’ve bought in the past. Note: after about a month of operating, it started making a new noise, like a clicking noise that is louder than the fan noise. The machine still makes ice, and I tried thawing the machine, a cleaning cycle, but the new clicking noise seems to be here to stay. I knocked down my rating to a 4 out of 5 because of this otherwise was gonna give it a 5/5. This is a great buy for its capability and price, especially compared to some of the priciest countertop nugget ice makers out there that are $500-$700.
