I've had the the iO8 for a little over a month now, so here goes... After almost 15 years, my Sonicare finally bit the dust. It was a great toothbrush, but I used the opportunity to explore other options. When I bought the iO8, the iO10 was the latest and greatest, but the iO10 was over 200 dollars more, and as far as I could tell, the only inherent differences where a base that lit up, a speckled handle (super cool aesthetic - that's not sarcasm) and an extra tongue cleaning mode? None of these could get me to justify the price difference so I got the 8 on sale. Overall, I am VERY happy with switch over from Sonicare. The features I think are better than Sonicare are: • the weight and form factor (I know things have changed in 15 years - my wife has a new Sonicare, so even compared to that I think this guy has a leg up). • the LCD screen. This is really great. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it does some great things. It lets me know how long I have been brushing, it's visible while brushing from my peripheral, it tells me the percentage of battery is left, and the visual rewards when you finish (I live for the starred-eye happy face) actually must do something, because I shoot to get that guy every time. • the charging base is magnetic and heavier, which is not only more secure, but feels more modern. • the rotating brush action feels closer to the dentist cleaning which I dig. My teeth feel cleaner after brushing with this compared to the Sonicare. • the iO8 has more cleaning modes than the Sonicare. Granted I only use the intense mode, but that's me. • I like that the timer on the iO8 just keeps going. The Sonicare just turns off after 2 minutes, but the iO8 will let you keep brushing if you choose to. • while brushing, the iO8 will give periodic buzzes every 30 seconds. The Sonicare does too, but the iO8 will buzz a number of times to let you know which interval you are at. 30 = 1 buzz, 60 = 2 buzzes...resets after 2 minutes. There is one area where iO8 falters compared to the Sonicare, and it's not so much the brush but the iO brush heads. For some reason, Oral-B decided to put two little holes towards on the head close to the brush itself. I can't decipher any functional reason, so it must be for aesthetics? When you brush your teeth, these holes collect saliva and feed it down the interior of the brush head where it naturally leaks out the bottom. For a second, I thought, as a 42 year old person, that I had forgotten how to not drool all over myself. Seriously Oral-B, get this together. The iO8 also has an app that I have used a total of one time. I tend to brush my teeth in the shower most of the time and, even when I don't, I'm not going to watch my phone to determine where I have brushed well or not. So that's gimmicky. Also, and my dentist told me this before I got the iO8, Oral-B heads are taller than Sonicare heads. So if you have a tiny mouth (not me), you might want to reconsider. As mentioned before, I REALLY like this toothbrush. When I see the dentist next l, I won't have to lie about brushing twice a day.

Excellent product, I have always used other electric toothbrushes but none like this one, the ease of use, the information it gives me to improve my brushing and the feeling of feeling very good about my oral hygiene after brushing.

I've been using my Series 7 toothbrush twice daily for the past 3.5 years. It still works like a clockwork. Previously, my dentist always frowned upon the plaque on my teeth on every visit - I used a regular toothbrush. But now that I've switched to this wonder, my dentist only gives me compliments and "keep up the good work" encouragements! So I bought Series 8 toothbrushes for all kids as well. Now they love to brush their teeth and show us parents the smiley face the toothbrush congratulates them each time! Their dentist is happy to tell us parents that the kids' teeth look super healthy!

I gifted this toothbrush to someone in the dental field and they instantly loved it. The packing is superb, the toothbrush itself is great, travel case is really handy. Basically a great gift. They have been using the toothbrush from Nov 2022 until now and it has been excellent so far EXCEPT...the battery is not holding charge as long as before. It has to charge was more frequent than a year ago. I will provide an update once I understand if the battery can be replaced since it's still under warranty

I had another brand for a year. It was my first electric toothbrush, an inexpensive battery operated one which did okay. It had the round brush head and a scrubbing brush. I only used the round brush head part. I decided to bite the bullet and get an Oral B iO series 8. I love this toothbrush. It makes my teeth feel much cleaner than a manual toothbrush or the other electric toothbrush. They feel almost like I just had my hygienist clean my teeth. Hopefully my next dental visit will show some improvement. The code to register it didn’t work initially. I successfully registered it with the code three weeks later. Pros: quieter (buzz rather than a loud clacking sound), doesn’t wax and wane in power output, green light ring with proper brushing pressure, timer with 30 second pulses, stays charged for a couple weeks or more (I am still on the first charge from 3 weeks ago using it at night only), round brush head only, easy to hold handle, weight of the charging base so doesn’t tip easily, purple color (had to get that in there). Cons: really expensive, travel case isn’t a charging case, expensive brush head refills.

The Oral B io Series 8 has impressive technology. My dentist recommended the series 8 because it is better for my gums than the series 9. I recommend the Oral B io for these four reasons: 1) It gives biofeedback via a light on the handle that changes from light blue (not enough pressure) to green (correct pressure) and red (too much pressure) and displays a smiling face at the conclusion of proper brushing. One time I brushed too long, and it displayed a frowning face. 2) The Oral B provides a smartphone Bluetooth app that shows the biofeedback color while brushing, in case you prefer to see it on a phone screen. 3) The app shows you a drawing of a mouthful of teeth, showing which sections you brushed properly and tells you your total percent of proper brushing. 4) The brush head surrounds the tooth and gets under the gums while also brushing the tooth surfaces. With my previous brand of electric toothbrush (Sonicare) I had to brush each tooth with the edge of the brush angled to get under the gums and then do a separate brushing of each tooth with the brush flat against the teeth to clean the tooth surfaces. The time that I brushed too long (5 minutes) the Oral B io shut itself off and advised me not to do that again!

I was really nervous to use this toothbrush because I've only ever used a manual. When I received it, I read the instructions and sat a bit with my fear. I wanted to keep using the manual brush, but had thrown it out already, on purpose. Anyway, I picked myself up and decided I would give it a try. I felt a little uneasy and awkward at first, but then I picked up on how to use it and it was really easy afterwards. In the first photo, there are teeth stains that I couldn't remove before using Oral B iO Series 8. I also felt the difference right after brushing as well. That plaque residue was gone, the stains are disappearing and my teeth are the healthiest I have ever had them. I enjoy the little smiley face and the app, main reasons why I chose this brush. I don't use it to thoroughly clean my tongue (decided I'd get a scraper for that), but it doesn't do too badly, especially since it doesn't have the tongue cleaning mode on the model I have. All in all, this toothbrush 🪥 is amazing 😍, it's comfortable to hold and worth the money spent. It's a great investment and it's actually fun to brush my teeth now. It fits well with my lifestyle, totally keeping it until I absolutely have to upgrade it.
