I don't usually leave reviews, but this merits one. PAY ATTENTION if you want the totally wireless one. There is another (almost the same) one that has a wireless fountain motor, but the unit must be plugged in to work - that one is $35. It works great, but I ordered it thinking it was completely wireless and only realized that it still required a plug to run when I received it. I wanted the totally wireless version that has a battery and runs without being plugged in. This one is labeled as "battery operated" -and costs $70. I know that is a lot to pay for a pet fountain, but read on. Both fountains are almost exactly the same, except the battery operated feature lets you put the fountain anywhere you choose AND it has a couple extra features that are really convenient. 1) it has an automatic sensor that turns on when you pet gets right up to the fountain - other fountains I have tried have a wider sensor area that results in the fountain turning on and off every dang time you walk by it. This one is more sensitive and will not turn on until your pet is right at the fountain. Saving energy, battery life and annoyance. 2) it has an opaque water container, but it has a black base with two lights that will come on to indicate low battery or low water level - to let you know when to recharge and when to refill. Both fountains are SO QUIET. With no motor on the fountain, and a specific part that has a gentle slope for the water to run down, the only thing you will hear is your pet drinking. Other pet fountains I have tried advertise silence, but I could still hear the steady and constant trickle of water, because the fountain sensor would trigger anytime anyone got anywhere near it. My whole family thought something was leaking in the kitchen until we realize it was the fountain starting up all the time. If you are this far in the review, then I'm guessing you're like me and you've done a ton of research on the "best pet fountain" etc. You can stop - this is the one. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. And I recommend the battery operated version, because if there is a power outage while you are out of town, your pet will still have plenty of fresh water to drink, even if the pet sitter forgot to come check on them for 48 hours --> does that story sound specific? That is the whole reason I started looking for a battery operated pet fountain in the first place. I was able to get this "battery operated" wireless pet fountain used in good condition from Amazon, paying $45 instead of $70. But, honestly now that I have it I would pay the full price if I needed to replace. Hope this review helps!

Click to play video I think what I learned buying this fountain a couple months ago is that there is a larger difference between cat fountains and the enjoyment of it in your home than I was prepared for. We have a 7 year old Cornish Rex cat. She has always preferred what we call “human water” as in my water, my husband’s water, really anything but her water. We got her a cat fountain a year ago (not this one) and pretty quickly she started using it. She was asking for human water less, but would still steal our waters from time to time. After 6 months or so, our cat discovered something new… “sink water” and started developing bad habits around demanding water from every sink she could get to. She’d use the cat fountain when we weren’t home, and didn’t totally depend on sink water when we were home…. But it was clear: sink water is best water now. As the fountain i purchased got older it became clear that it was getting gross and dirty faster and faster, hard to clean and the motor was working a little haphazardly. It did not have a battery backup either, so when we’d leave the house for extended periods, I left the house like that girl from Signs with half full glasses of water all over the house in case the power went out. Finally I got sick of the constant cleaning of it, listening to it burgle at night, and decided to try replacing it with something else. Enter PetLibro. I figured the battery backup would be a cool option and was pleased that they offered replacement filters for all their products that weren’t too expensive. Also liked the look well enough, not as cool looking as my last fountain, but the integrated battery and other tech were a big plus. To say that this fountain was an upgrade would be an understatement. It’s easier to clean, the wireless motor is awesome, the tank is quite large and water lasts a long time, and my cat has COMPLETELY STOPPED asking for sink water and human water. The only thing she’s begging for now are treats and a thimble of milk from the fridge which, let’s face it, she was never gonna stop asking for that. She likes the fountain attachment on top as it mimics her love of the sink faucet. The unit is MUUUUUCH quieter than our last fountain, which honestly I thought was quiet but now realize how wrong I was. The battery backup is a nice piece of mind. Things to note that I have learned using this fountain: -You HAVE TO SOAK THE NEW FILTERS for a while, like 10min and rinse them before install. The instructions tell you this, but I tried cutting corners once or twice and the results are super gross musty looking water. Soak and rinse! -getting to the filter can feel like you’re going to break something. There’s no instructions on how to open the compartment, but it’s just a tight press fit that makes you feel like you’re about to snap the hard plastic. Just power through those concerns, it’ll be fine. -the battery only mode doesn’t fun the fountain all the time. It cycles on the water like every x number of minutes per hour. If you like the water constantly moving/filtering you HAVE to plug it in. -water will collect between the container and the battery base. It doesn’t hurt anything, the base is wirelessly powering the motor, but sometimes you can get suction between the base and container when you go to pick it up because it’s sitting in a puddle. TLDR All in all GREAT fountain. Thought it would be like any other but I was wrong, this has absolutely changed my cats behavior for the better. Very happy with my purchase.
