Updating my review as the seller updated the product record to reflect the superfluous piece on the umbrella not being needed when using this base. It looks great with the giant rocks (I recommend the extra large rocks, some of the smaller ones fall through the grate whenever I move it across the deck - but it's easy enough to toss them back in there). I was given the umbrella as a housewarming gift. I guess they bought the base separately because it arrived two days after I purchased and assembled this base. I chose it because of the wheels, as I will want to move this from location to location based on who needs shade front eh sun. It was simple to put together once you could make sense of the diagrams, but I wish there’d been a video online. The umbrella had two metal crossbar/feet that I can’t figure out what to do with, so I just put them in the garage and left the little space between each square where the rocks are. I don’t think this is going to affect the integrity of the structure, but it’s hard to tell. The Purple Leaf website doesn’t have an option to call or any videos to show how to connect the umbrella to the base, or I’d have given this a five-star review.

I bought a 13' round umbrella and was certainly concerned about the strong winds here in Las Vegas. Purple Leaf suggested this base. Whoa. First, shame on me, I did not look at the dimensions or the shipping weight. Thank god my son was here when it arrived, it was close to 120 lbs of steel & I would have had some difficulty moving the bulky heavy box out to the backyard by myself. Second, the dimensions are 38" by 38" roughly. Fortunately, I have room for that but it is large. The good part is the base assembled without any real challenges and it is rock solid. I loaded it up with left over pavers that I had, so it looks good and is very heavy. Off to a good start. The umbrella arrives next week so that will be the true test. Purple Leaf support was helpful and delivery was very quick from Amazon.

Heavy duty. Pretty large but perfect for holding umbrella down in an Oklahoma wind.

Built good but the color isn't black like the umbrella. It is grey

This umbrella base was suggested by Purple Leaf for our large square umbrella. The assembly was easy and the base looks good. There was a very minimal scratch on the powder coating when it arrived, and the purple leaf team was extremely helpful in providing the exact paint brand and color for a touch up. To be noted that this base is in metal and needs to be filled with ~500 pounds of stones for a 12fX12f umbrella. It has wheels and wheels locks so it can be moved. We are quite satisfied.

Purchased this for a 12 x 12' umbrella. Love it. We used large river rock in the base (about 16 bags from Lowes) and placed some plants in containers on top of the rock. Works well. One bit of advice, look through book before you start putting together. The round disc needs to be attached before you add all the bolts to connect the base...critical or the bolts do not line up. Highly recommend.

Click to play video Love this base! Such a unique feature for our backyard that we’re just starting to put together! I put weed barrier down, then pea gravel. Soil and succulents. No dirt leaking through when I water it.
