I read this and plan to read it a few more times! It is highlighed to death and has so many amazing points, stories, quotes and insights to walk as Jesus walked. I'm truly thankful for the book and have already gifted it to others. Perfect for new Christians or seasoned Christians. Beautifully written and researched.

Thorough examination of how to think, speak, and act as the Lord wants us to. Comprehensive but not overwhelming... informative but still very enjoyable. Explains the benefits and practical steps to being who He wants us to be.

This has to go in my top 3 best books I’ve read in a long time. I am not an avid reader, and am very selective. If a book doesn’t hold my interest I put it down and never pick it up again. This book covers a MOST important and ignored by modern Christian topic: daily obedience to Jesus and the way He wants you to live. He has changed symantics which really puts a better frame of reference on the subject; it is apprenticeship as a synonym for discipleship. The book is filled with quotes that are to the point and timely. I love the emphasis on historical Christians and their writings without it feeling like a dry history lesson. Overall the book kept my attention to the end. I found it thought provoking and I found my self putting it down to ruminate for a few days until I was ready for the next nugget. It also is extremely helpful, with practical things you can do, giving suggestions. I felt like I was gleaning from centuries of Christian thinkers, philosophers, apologists, without have to actually read them!!! I was challenged and inspired to be a better apprentice of Jesus. It is one of the key aspects of Christianity we have lost in today’s society, and MUST get back to! Like I said, one of the top 3-4 books!

After reading the book on my own and not being able to put it down, I ran the primer course with our Sunday School (Discipleship) class. Next week, we all our church small groups will be walking through it. This is rich content that many believers don't take time to soak in. I love John Mark Comer's approach and the guests he uses in the course - which is really just modeling our life after Christ's approach.

Another great read from JMC! Bought this book for my husband because he’d mentioned wanting to read it several times before it was even released but I ended up reading it as well. Not quite as directly applicable as some of his other books, but provides a great framework for practices/spiritual disciplines to incorporate into our lives to follow Jesus more closely and written with so much grace and humility! He directly quotes another preacher, teacher, author, etc. A LOT throughout the book, which was not my cup of tea and made the writing a bit choppy in my opinion. BUT, overall worth the read and I’ve already identified areas of my life I can surrender more to the Lord and practices I can work on adding to my daily rhythms.

My husband has read the book this book twice. I have listened to it and the accompanying podcasts and YouTube videos several times. It continues to be life-changing for us. Comer is genuine, insightful, and breathes fresh life into these topics. We have recommended to six or seven people. Everyone has reached out to say thank you.

I enjoyed every word in this book. I hope to reread the principles in a small group setting. It guides to a "Rule" of life, a trellis to sustain spiritual vine growth, to follow and be a true apprentice of Jesus.

In a world brimming with books clamouring for attention, it's rare to find one that captures your interest and enriches your soul. John Mark Comers' latest book is one of those rare gems that leave a lasting impact long after you've turned the last page. His ability to intertwine vast knowledge across different fields while maintaining an engaging and accessible writing style is nothing short of remarkable. What truly sets this book apart is Comers' adeptness at drawing from an expansive well of sources to deepen the narrative. The breadth of perspectives he incorporates broadens the reader's understanding and enriches the journey through the subject matter. As a Pastor, I paused at intervals, reflecting on the profound insights shared. His work serves as a reminder of the necessity to embrace and practice our beliefs amidst the whirlwind that often characterizes ministry. This isn't just a book; it's a masterclass in thoughtful reflection and practical wisdom. Through meticulous research and compelling storytelling, he invites the reader into a broader, more varied conversation about following Jesus. It's a conversation that not only educates but also transforms. To John Mark Comer, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your book has been a beacon of light in the complexity of ministry, reminding me of the importance of grounding myself in practice and faith. Your contribution is invaluable, and this Pastor thanks you for the reminder to navigate the whirlwind of ministry deeply anchored to The Way. I cannot wait to internalize this and share it with those I have been called to lead.

I’ve been thinking about Jesus’s practice of disciple-making for a long time, and this book lays out the key issues really clearly. He draws on the wisdom of others, especially Dallas Willard, but right across the spectrum of traditions and the history of disciple-making.

I must say I'm a fanboy of JMC but with good reason.. the honesty with which he approaches the subject matter is refreshing.. no quick fixes from know it all guru.. but true christlike honesty and humility If listened to most of the book twice on Audible.. some parts more.. and still decided to get the book as well.. a lot of the content needs in dept integration into my life.. It does align well with where I'm at in my current journey with Jesus.. The fact that every relationship requires proper maintenance.. also one with the Almighty Creator.. is not a very popular subject in the western Church.. but we all need to hear this.. and act on it like there's no tomorrow
