🦋 Dark Fantasy 🦋 Enemies to Lovers 🦋 Fae, Vampires, Witches, Humans 🦋 Top Tier Banter 🦋 TENSION 🦋 Grumpy Shadow Daddy MMC 🦋 Stubborn, Bad*ss FMC 🦋 Medium Burn 🦋 Fated Mates SUMMARY: Saeris Fane is good at staying under the radar in the unforgiving desert that is the Silver City. She has been picking pockets, siphoning water and sneaking out of the quarantined 3rd Ward for as long as she can remember. But her luck can only continue for so long. In a bid to save her brother from her own mistakes, she finds herself at the mercy of the undying queen. Saeris comes face-to-face with Death and inadvertently opens a gateway between worlds. She unwittingly binds herself to that shadow of Death and finds herself a pawn in his plan to protect his people. They say that the Devil is in the details — be careful of the deals you make. REVIEW: This book is quite a ride! The relationship between the FMC & MMC is exactly what I want in a fantasy enemies to lovers. She is strong and independent, he is grumpy and overbearing and their relationship is very adversarial for much of the book, which I LOVE. The banter between characters is very entertaining and the TENSION is top-tier. This is a medium burn that does pay off with some great, steamy scenes. There is a quite a bit more lore and worldbuilding in this book than I was expecting, but it does not occur up-front. At some points, the background information is mentioned after events occur as an explanation, but it felt a little like an afterthought. The interconnected background / storylines of the fae, vampires, gods, etc. became a bit confusing for me. There are certainly unfinished storylines that leave things wide open for a continuation of this series, so perhaps more will be explained in the next book. This book is single POV, but the audiobook has duet narration — the female dialogue is voiced by Stella Bloom and the male dialogue is voiced by Anthony Palmini. 🤌🏻 I’ll be honest, for the first 30% of the book, I would have rated a 3⭐️, 30% - 90% is a 5⭐️ and the last 10% of the book is a 4⭐️. With all that said, I really enjoyed this book overall. The premise was very interesting, there is quite a bit of action to keep you engaged and the relationships dynamics and dialogue were amazing. I look forward to reading the next book.

When I say this book shocked my brain, I'm not exaggerating. Although a slow start, the book engages your mind with familiar aspects of the genre but weaves in delicious twists and turns that are truly unique to this author and world. It only took 20 pages for me to cancel my plans, read between traffic lights (just kidding), read while cooking and ignore my husband for an entire two days. I even stayed up late reading, fell asleep, got a good 6 hours of sleep and immediately resumed reading. The world building, division between races and political power plays just captivated me! Oh and don't forget the spice, which was oh so nice! The characters are all likeable and the villains are truly villainous but you oddly like them for exactly what they are; destined to be destroyed for the atrocities they committed and in no way redeemable but also formidable. The banter among characters is fun, witty and sometimes has just the right level of smoulder. Saeris and Fisher are lively and colorful but also so conplex that I can't wait to dig in more to their story in the future. Carrion and Ren, too, have bigger roles to play and I'm anxious to know more because I'm always 100% here for the loveable right hand man and the rougish, loveable scoundrel. The book has the right level of mystery and well timed breadcrumb reveals as well as HUGE revelations that were sometimes shocking and sometimes a fantastic pay off for early on fan theories. ( I love when I guess something correctly but how it plays out surprises me; the best of both worlds). Although the story ends with somewhat of a nice tied up bow, it leaves you wanting more and more especially now that the pieces are moving, villains revealed, gods out of play and characters tied together by love, fate, blood and power. October 2025 please come soon!

I don’t really know how I feel right now. Is a mix of emotions for sure. I do feel this book was really over hyped but is definitely not a bad book. I won’t talk about the story and it’s characters but the book in it’s whole. The story does have a nice flow. Most of the book is not fast paced but not boring slow either. About 90% of the story I had more questions than answers and then you get hit with tons of information in the last 10%. So much was going on that made my head spin and I got confused. I had so many questions that didn’t have an answer to it. I might have to go back and reread the last 10% again. Probably another day when I have pulled myself together. Would I recommend this book? I certainly would. And I’ll certainly be waiting for the next book.

I loved this book! I listened to the audiobook, but was so sucked in I had to buy the Kindle version so I could follow along. I really liked the characters, even the side characters. Saeris is witty, fierce, snarky and such a badass! I loved the banter and tension between Kingfisher and Saeris, and the spice was 🔥🌶 I loved Lorreth and Rendis. Carrion is hilarious and had me rolling! The world was interesting and I thought well-written. Adventure, romance, danger, found family, Alchemy, Fae, witches and VAMPIRES! Truly enjoyed this read and look forward to book 2!

This book is everywhere and I finally got around to reading it. I really, really enjoyed this, it was a different type of journey. The world is unique, exciting, welcoming and at first complicated. It's full of unknowns and the reveals just keep coming. The story unfolds slowly, always leaving you wondering. I loved that! The characters are well written, they are passionate and complex and they really grew on me. I kept thinking about them. The intimate scenes in this book between Kingfisher and Saeris were just unforgettable. In my opinion it was so powerful and emotional at times. ✨️ The last chapters of the book were a wild ride! I am sad that I have to wait nearly a year to read the second book. It does end with a cliffhanger but not a very big one at all. It is just setting the stage for the next book, that's all.

Kingfisher.

What an absolute ride! This book was INCREDIBLE. It had everything we could ever want in a romantasy. Callie writes characters so well. I definitely had visceral and definite reactions to so many characters. Quicksilver had the perfect balance between plot and romance. Neither outshined the other. The battle scenes were pretty good, with just the right amount of gruesome details to get the point across. Both MCs are amazing, the banter is out of this world. The sides characters are also fantastic, special shoutout to carrion and his wit and crude humor. I kn ow this is a long book but honestly I could've read 500 more pages of this story. Can't wait for the next book
