This is an excellent camera with great picture quality. Even in suboptimal lighting conditions, fine details can be made out easily. The construction is solid as well, with a thick outer shell and hard plastic camera cover, fitting for a vandal-proof camera. You can choose to run the power and ethernet cables out of the back of the camera, say, through a hole in a wall, or you can remove a rubber insert to divert the cable out of one side. I was worried about range of motion, but the camera can pivot along a wide range, up and down, and nearly 360 degrees around. The wide FOV allows you to see a lot from any position. This camera easily connects to AgentDVR, and AgentDVR is even able to use data from the camera's AI motion and object detection to tag videos (with keywords including "detected", "vehicle", "people", "animal") or trigger recordings. FTP recording also works very well, although I had trouble with Auto/PASV transport and had to set it to Port to get it to work properly. The only problem I've had, along with other Reolink cameras, is switching between day and night modes. I guess my porch is just a bit too dark. In the morning, the camera won't switch to day mode until at least 3 hours past sunrise. It also doesn't switch over when my porch light is turned on at night, and it's a really powerful bulb. This doesn't significantly affect clarity, it just means it doesn't show colors when it reasonably could.

I purchased three of these cameras to upgrade from older Reolink products. The cameras were easy to install, simple to adjust to monitor the desired area, and they connected effortlessly to my existing Reolink apps after scanning the QR codes. As one would expect, the existing app now reveals many more settings and features than what was available with my older Reolink cameras. The image quality is excellent and the cameras are well worth the price. Two suggestions top the manufacturer: It would have been better if the ethernet cable on the cameras were in the middle of the base to make the upgrade even easier. Finally, the cameras came with what appears to be a silica gel package inside the housing. It was stuck on with glue, but I assume this should be removed before installing and not be left in to absorb moisture. I would recommend this be made clear in the installation instructions.

These work great. We had someone set them up. I’ve had cameras before and these are definitely better quality. I don’t know about zoom quality because we need a tutorial with the installer - I don’t fare well with written instructions. Night vision is good. We walk our dog nightly and the camera automatically lights up bright.

Camera works ok but image quality is subpar. Doesn't cope well with high contrast situations like bright objects in the sun that appear completely washed out (including people) and indistinguishable from light colored pavement. Closer to the house with indirect light it's fine. Night vision is so so. For the price I was expecting more. Would not purchase again just based on this. As other reviewers have mentioned installation is unnecessarily challenging. Camera has a non-circular shape which might look cute but doesn't fit any standard junction boxes. Wire comes out to the side of the camera making it eve more difficult to route under. Attached wires are also very long (why can't they just put an ethernet plug on those PoE cameras and call it a day?? Would make everything so much easier). You need to use the reolink app to activate the http port first in case you are wondering why you can't access the web interface out of the box. Not officially supported by Synology Surveillance Station (yet). ONVIF works but gives me a jerky stream. Hopefully this improves once this model is added to the device pack.

I haven't extensively tested night vision or motion detection, but the camera works well in its indoor application in my basement. Picture quality is quite good. The Reolink Client software works well with Windows 11 PCs, IOS devices, but fails to work with my MacBook Air running the Sonoma version of MacOS. It failed with the previous version, Ventura as well. Two different Mac's (also a MacMini 2018) showed the same result. Given that two different PC's worked fine, I can only conclude that the Mac version is not ready for prime time. The Mac problem exists with two different Reolink camera models including this one. With IOS and Windows 11 as well as logging into the camera via the web, the RLC-1240A produces good results. I have installed micro SD storage in this camera as well as a different Reolink model - storage works well. In all, a good camera. But suggest that Reolink fix the Mac Reolink Client.

Updated my rating. The camera worked great for three months, then suddenly stopped working. I reached out to the manufacturer but haven’t received a response in over two weeks. I own two other cameras from the same brand, so I’m hoping this was just a one-off issue—but it does raise concerns about quality control if some units are failing after only 90 days.

I had purchased a 12mb, eight camera set with a recorder that will hookup sixteen cameras. I wanted to slowly add cameras where I need them and this one was on sale ten dollars cheaper than the non security ones. It is how ever a very nice camera. The only difference in this one and the others I got, this one is vandal proof. It does have a good picture. A person would have to carry a small Allen wrench (included with camera) to remove the dome cover to expose the camera. After you get the cover off you can adjust what the camera sees. Still have a few more to buy so I wouldn't be apposed another one of these if price is right.

Switching from another brand, this camera is my first Reolink, a trial. Wide view covered cars from eave. Lots of adjustments to picture and detection, detection adjusted easily and detection area adjusted easily to reduce false triggers. Picks up humans at a real good distance. Ordering 4 more and an NVR to complete system. Very impressed with tech support, question completely answered quickly unlike other manufacturers. Overall very happy with purchase.

Very clear to see the picture! A little bit difficult to change the angle compared other models. But it is very normal situation.

Camera can be manually adjusted on both x and y axis, mounting holes are 88mm apart, I found an aluminum base to mount camera to so it could be mounted outside to a single gang box.

I like the resolution and ability to set size parameters for person, vehicle, animal detection. I like that it is 24/7 recording on the Reolink DVR and the unit is easy to setup and point (as long as you have a Cat5e/6/6e/7 or other cabling to the camera's location). I like that it is domed with anti-tamper glass. I like that it can be installed horizontally (under soffits, etc.). I like that it can be installed vertically (on side of house's exterior walls). I like the features including auto IR, auto lighting, motion recording, playback filtering, auto colour mode (switch to black and white if not enough lighting). I like the reliability of these domes (I have 4). I don't like that exposed domes (side of exterior house wall with no cover) can have an IR reflection issue at night - IR beam bounces off accumulated dirt on the glass dome and creates smudge spots on the video output. I now have to remove the glass domes every few weeks to carefully clean the inside of the dome with a lint-free cloth and no-streak glass cleaner or water. This is the argument for the turret or bullet style cams whose lenses seem to stay clean without all this extra effort and fanfare. I don't like that the glass domes seem to 'attract' dirt when mounted in exposed spots with no cover/shade protection (much like a soffit provides). I've had to clean the exterior of each exposed dome every month. I don't like that the glass dome is clear. A darker tint that reduces reflection and also camouflages the direction the camera is pointed would be my preferred choice. But I do like Reolink's product line including its 4:3 doorbell though 5MP seems dark compared to these and other 8MP and 12MP cams. I will continue to buy Reolink cams for my use.

I have many Reolink cameras and doorbells. Purchased this one for the wide angle and it did not dissapoint. My only comment/design flow, compared to other Reolink cameras is that due to the dome design, the nigh vision LED glare light through the dome glass back to the camera, which makes the bottom part of the picture blurry. I ended up turning off the night vision light since the sensor is quite sensitive and ambient light from street lights is sufficient for good quality night vision recording. Otherwise, very good quality product.
