Two months after the first book. Rune is with Cressida and the rest of the witches. Gideon has caught up with them. He gets caught by Cressida and tell him her plan. Once Rune finds out she decides to change the plans Cressida has. Can her and Gideon work together to stop Cressida. Absolutely loved this book.📕 Very faced paced, and so good.😊 I loved that the plot was very easy to follow, even though a lot was happening. And that you had the romance 🥰,but it didn’t over took the story. The characters growth was great, and the side characters had some growth too. The ending was perfect 😍. And the secrets 🤫 were great 😊 when revealed.

Rebel Witch is a fast-paced, slow-burn fantasy that masterfully intertwines the lives of the hunter and the hunted, creating a compelling and immersive experience. Ciccarelli delivers a thrilling narrative with short chapters, making it an easy and captivating escape into a world of witches and witch hunters. The duology is highlighted by beautifully crafted world-building, a classic slow-burn romance, and well-developed characters, leaving a lasting impression long after the story concludes.
"Kissing Gideon was like coming home. A steadying force, reminding her of who she was, and where she belonged."

I love when the second book of a series is just as good if not better than the first! Rebel Witch was everything I wanted from this series and more!
Heartless Hunter ended on a cliffhanger and I was afraid we might have a long period without seeing Gideon and Rune interacting with each other. I was pleasantly surprised to see how soon we had scenes with them together and how much of the story they crossed over even though their motivations were opposite of one another. The banter was BANTERING in Rebel Witch and it filled my Enemies-to-lovers heart with how well it was written!
The world-building and magic systems aren't complex, making this a great series for someone who wants to dabble in fantasy and doesn't know where to begin. I also love that the magic used in this series has a cost and a symbol for its use so there's some thought put into how it should be used and the timing and consequences for its use.
Politics and too much power are a big theme of this series and they played heavily on this second book. Being forced to make difficult decisions with very little options forces you to really look at what is most important.
I was really happy with the ending although I would have changed one tiny little thing!
Some favorite non-spoiler moments:
"Next time, you're going to tell me the entire plan upfront!"
"If I'd told you the entire plan up front you wouldn't have agreed to it!"
"Men with guns are chasing us Gideon. Well-fitting clothes are the least of your concerns."
"She was like a magnet sending the arrows on his moral compass spinning. Making him forget who he was and everything he'd committed himself to."
"Rune is worth everything" (ch. 51)
The tropes were TROPING in Rebel Witch:
Enemies-to-lovers
Cat and mouse games
Fake wedding
He teaches her how to shoot
One Cabin, one bed
One horse
He gives her his last gun!!
Romance Content: 1 open-door scene (ch. 71) easy to skip. Very little language. They market this as a YA book, but I recommend 16 yrs & older!

Let’s be honest, this story cast a spell on me. Seriously, I was entranced by it. I stayed in a constant state of anxiety working my way through each page with an insatiable hunger to know what happens.
In the book, Kristen Ciccarelli introduces new characters, keeps you held in suspense, and rights what I consider “character wrongs” that take place in the first book.
That said, I think you spend the entire book hanging by a thread and then when it gets to the cataclysmic point at the end, it wraps up too quickly… and I’m not saying I don’t like the way it wraps up, because I do, but it felt faster than the pace of the rest of the story.
I continue to be pro-Rune, I think she’s one bad witch, and Gideon found redemption in my eyes.
I fully expected there to be another installment, but unless it picks up at the start of the new world, then this may not lead to another book.
Either way, it’s worth your time, and will truly steal you attention.

I have been waiting for this book for a while and couldn't wait to read it as soon as it was released. While the first book is still the favorite of the two, there were so many good things in this book. I loved the beginning: the pace, the dialogue between the main characters, the direction. The middle lost me a bit, the mmc did a lot of back and forth which bothered me only because the fmc seemed pretty steadfast in her emotions and what she felt was right.
Spoilers ahead
The ending though whewww, once the mmc knew he was going to save the fmc I was back on board when he mentioned that he would stay because she wouldn't love someone who would run!! love.
Also, the fmc's sacrifice and the twist at the end was good, the last chapter left me wanting more to the story or to see one of her ~visions~ become reality. <3

What a fantastic way to conclude a story! Kristen Ciccarelli put the perfect combination of heartache, hope, love, courage, and strength together to make this an irresistible tale. Through the conclusion of Rune, Gideon, and their friends’ stories, I found moments that made me chuckle and moments that made my heart ache for these characters. Ciccarelli has a stunning talent for making you fall in love with her characters and root for them, even if you’re unsure what side they are truly on. The journey each character takes to reach their ultimate end is beautifully written and powerful in the message it sends. I can’t recommend this book enough. Heartless Hunter was one of my favorites of 2024, and I can say that Rebel Witch is on that list for 2025.
❤️Chapter 43 is my favorite. Happy Reading!❤️

I’m so sad this duology is over!
The way Kristen writes is just magical! She pulls me into the world she’s created right away and I can’t help but love the characters.
I loved Heartless Hunter so much and Rebel Witch was one of my most anticipated reads for the year and it did not disappoint!! I loved the Rune and Gideon were brought back together right away and how even in their “hatred” they still worked together but they just work so well together!!! Gah! I love them so much!!
I really enjoyed all the side characters and their additions to the story as well! Hate Cressida but she was a perfect villain so it was a love to hate you vibe.
I can’t wait to see what Kristen does next!

L’ho adorato.

It is a long expected suite. The first book was a stunning discovery, and it takes a little time to find in this book the author’s « touch ».
It’s like a strange ride, too slow, too repetitive in the beginning, wonderful in the middle and oddly wrapped up in the end, but it’s a great ride anyway.

Very well written!💜
However...whoever handled my book left permenant fingerprints on the cover.😡 not nice.

This is the second book to Heartless Hunter and it did not disappoint. The story, characters and plot line were excellent. Real depth with imperfect character flaws, love that doesn't work out perfectly every time and some character losses that really break your heart!
The magic system was excellent and something new, which was refreshing.
The book arrived in great shape - no damage to the book or the dust jacket.
