This lens is in very good condition and works great for all focal lengths from 50 to 200 mm but focus for close up objects is not very fast.

coming form the Nikon world, this lens feels like the Nikkor 55-300, but way better on video. Despite this is not Samsungs's NX VideoPro lens, it does delivers in my opinion a softer zoom and focus as well. It does not make the sound of Nikkor lenses and despite its small size it delivers very sharp images. Together with my NX1, I use this lens for wildlife photography and environmental studies since it is a faster lens than the more high-end NX Videopro 18-200mm. Samsung provides a very good diversity of NX lenses, even a prime lens that produces 3D, but still I miss a more powerful telephoto lens on their family. Being the NX1 a top camera on image quality, super fast hybrid autofocus and a weather resistant body, you would wonder why if these are features of a camera that should be able to work on outdoor environment, does not have a "serious" NX telephoto lens? Prime NX telephoto lenses are just til 150mm... so all you have left is this 50-200, that is a good lens at a very reasonable price. If you are on nature photography with a NX camera, you need this lens despite it will not fully replace a much needed telephoto around the 400mm. update: Samsung has a telephoto NX 300 f/2.8 ED S OIS that has not reached the market. Moreover, Samsung has its entire NX line on standby despite it got the highest standards (e.g. NX1) and left pro-customers stranded. However, I keep my hope the NX line be resumed. While that happens, SAMYANG has produced plenty of addition lenses for NX cameras.

Like I did with my review for the NX30, let me prefix this by stating that by no way am I a "photographer". I literally purchased a camera with having no photography background to see if this is a hobby I'd like to pick up so my experience is solely from a non-technical/new user experience. I picked up the NX30 that came with a 18-55mm lens and was looking for a lens that would give me a little more zoom power as the kit lens wasn't enough for some shots that I wanted to take. I picked this lens up and it's great! The zoom on it is great in my opinion; I'm going to be looking at Mars anytime soon with it but it does give that extra little bit of zoom that the kit lens did not bring to the table. The weight on the lens itself is not too bad considering it's a decent length. The thing to remember with this lens is that it's strong point seems to be the zoom on it. This is not a lens you will want to use on an everyday situation as it will have trouble focusing in on small things when there is no zoom and you're trying to do a macro type of shot. Yes I understand that the lens is not built for that but I just wanted to put that out there as it took me a little bit to figure out why I shouldn't use it as my everyday instead of my 18-55mm. If I can figure out how to upload images to the product review I will certainly do so! I personally love this lens, it's my 1st lens purchase for my NX30 and I have zero regrets!

Good optics, not too much light degradation, bayonet mounting, haven't figured out the "iFin" function, not as close as my Nikon cool pix 520 gets so I am spoiled with long long zoom, the price is more than say Vivitar and for an amateur like me the value is not there. I really think that I am not sophisticated enough to realize how good (if it is) this lens is. I also had trouble focusing if I got within 4 feet of my subject, even manually. I need to be educated to be more proficient with the lens. It has been years since I used a SLR and must have forgotten how limited the zoom of a smallish lens can be.

Good enough considering the money. It adds a lot of size and weight to my small and and normally lightweight NX500. (lens weight is about 15oz) If the lighting is sufficient, focusing is quick however this is not an indoor lens. I find the OIS works well and the images are sharp with the good color I expect from NX lenses. If you are (or were) a DSLR shooter, you will likely find this lens to be as good or better than the common 70-200 f4-5.6 lenses that are in a similar price range but, as with all things mirrorless, it's a bit smaller and lighter which is a very good thing. For a general purpose telephoto lens for NX, this is your puppy.

Purchased this lens for my NX300, and it is exactly what I needed to get the most out of my camera. Title says OIS, but I actually recieved the OISiii, which is pretty awesome. The iFn button, as with any Samsung lens with this feature, is not only awesome and easy to use, it's also quite flashy when others notice its usage, and always receives praise. Also near the iFn button is the switch to choose between AF & MF, which is just plain badass. This particular feature is my favorite. Switching to Manual Focus lets the user choose exactly what to focus on, and what not to, which is ideal for aperture shots. {Also, while in MF, an on-screen scale pops up, which makes it easier to find the perfect focus} Construction and Design are both excellent, and I appreciate the metal locking ring. Solid feel, smooth zoom, and decent weight. Grips around Zoom and Focus Rings are perfect. I chose to get the lens in white to match my NX300, and I always get compliments. {I'll admit, it brings a much 'happier' feel to these paparazzi-style lenses. Also, it seperates from the mundane} Package included caps for both ends, as well as a lens hood, all of which are of high quality. Must say, it's a must-have for any NX!
