I have always been than person mosquitos prefer. Maybe it's body chemistry. It's been a pain many times in my life. When Avon's Skin So Soft came out, I loved it, because it actually repelled biting bugs; however, I didn't want to be greasy all the time. So I bought the lotion Avon made at the beginning of this century. Avon abandoned their original lotion, though, and the current version is weak and a poor comparison. This is relevant, because picaridin is the active ingredient that repels mosquitos in Avon's Skin So Soft. This product works wonderfully for me, and I seem to be mosquito prime rib. There is a slight learning curb to use this, so as not to waste it or use too much. Hold the can about a foot away from your skin and use short bursts. You can smooth it out with your hands, if covering your legs, or forearms if you are spraying on your arms. I will also spray a small ammount into my shirt sleeves. It has not stained our clothes. It works up here in prime mosquito real estate (Pacific Northwest). More, I am a fairly serious aquarist, and with minimal washing, I can clean my tanks (elbows in) without worrying about hurting my fish: there is no residue on the water surface, and the fish don't show stress. We also use it for our dogs by spraying it on our palms and then rubbing it on their fur. It comes off well enough with a pet wipe. Really, I don't have a complaint about this product. The price is doable, it works, it doesn't damage clothes, and it doesn't appear to have adverse effects on our pets. If Avon worked for you, this will also, absolutely.

So sometimes you wonder if a product really works, or if you are just lucky and not exposed to the thing you're trying to avoid. Well, I can tell you with 100% certainty that this miracle product works! Twice in the past 2 months, I have been in a nature class (botany and entomology) with about 20 other people. In a very tick-heavy area. With my classmates finding 2, 3, 4 or more ticks on them while out in the field. Me? Zero ticks! Today, I found one teeny tiny tick when I removed my sock. Would you like to guess the 1 piece of clothing I didn't treat with this spray? If you guessed my socks, you win! I'm also a mosquito magnet, but zero mosquito bites with this spray! I have 10 months of classes to go, so I'm going to stock up!

We had plans to hike in a foreign country, so we started looking for a picaridin insect repellent spray. We came across this product which is a perfect size for travelling. We applied this to our skin area that was not covered by clothes (including face, ears, and neck). We did not notice any skin irritation, and the bugs (that we could see) were avoiding us! One down side is that this product has a very strong chemical-y smell.

After contracting Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever I did a deep dive into tick repellents & learned Sawyer lotion was the hands down winner. Consumer Reports wasn’t wrong. Years later I had to take over management of the fam farm & added the Sawyer clothing gear & tent spray, treating my clothes - even my shoes, socks, & hat. Now I’m hiking thru deep woods, wading into creeks, and waking through tall grass without a bite. Some of my fam resisted and relied on deep woods off. After finding 1+ tick after every farm trek they’ve joined my Sawyer cult and no more ticks! It’s expensive and a PITA to drench everything but trust me, it’s a heck of a lot better than RMSTF.

I've spent years as the designated "mosquito magnet" in my family - I can be covered head to toe while others remain untouched, and I'll still end up with dozens of bites! After trying countless repellents with disappointing results, Sawyer Products 20% Picaridin has been nothing short of miraculous for me. This spray is seriously the only mosquito repellent that consistently protects me. A thorough application before heading outdoors actually keeps those persistent bloodsuckers away, something I had almost given up hope on experiencing. The protection lasts for hours too - I can spend an entire evening outdoors without needing to reapply constantly. What I particularly appreciate is that unlike DEET-based products, this doesn't have that harsh chemical smell and doesn't leave a greasy, sticky residue on my skin. It applies clear and dries quickly, and doesn't damage my synthetic clothing or watch bands like some other repellents have. The continuous spray feature makes application quick and even, ensuring I don't miss spots. The two-pack is perfect - one stays in my backpack for hiking trips while the other lives by the back door for impromptu evening gatherings. For fellow mosquito magnets who have tried everything without success, I can't recommend Sawyer Picaridin spray highly enough. It's genuinely changed my outdoor experience from constant swatting and itching to actually enjoying nature!

Works great, repels mosquitos, but doesn't repel our voraciously hungry Yolo County black gnats. Almost nothing does. I used this on a recent river fishing trip where there are a lot of mosquitos, and it worked great for that purpose. Can be used for a short period for gnats here, but has to be reapplied often. Apple cider vinegar works better. That said, it can be sprayed onto skin or clothing. To me, the smell is fairly decent, compared to DEET, which I find obnoxious.

I found 2 ticks on me after clearing brush in my yard. I ordered this product the next day and have been using anytime I am outdoors. I have not found a single tick since I started using it. It sprays on easily and dries quickly. I have not had any skin irritation from it. It does have a strong odor when you spray it but after it dries I don’t notice the smell anymore.

Very effective in warding off insects, including sand flies, more effectively than DEET

I have used this product in both Thailand and Indonesia and so far it has worked brilliantly. It's probably the first time I've holidayed without the nuisance of itchy bites! It seems to last all day unless it is washed off, I didn't think about this when I went for a foot massage one evening and ended up with a couple of bites on my ankle; it's probably a good idea to carry it with you in such instances. What I really like about it is that it isn't sticky and oily like the formulas on sale in the UK. Be aware that you will need to allow around 3 weeks for delivery from the USA so order it early. It really is worth that little bit of extra hassle - highly recommended!
