Okay so this thing makes ice crazy fast, and it's such a good thing to have. We have it to use for tailgating, imagine being the life of the party because you didn't just bring the ice, you can MAKE the ice lol. It's also great to have to be able to use with your car battery for after hurricanes when there is no power and you need to keep things like insulin and other medications chilled - this can help you make that happen with a good cooler and a power inverter plugged into your car's cigarette lighter. Impressive little machine that makes ice fast and reliably.

Since we are prone to getting hurricanes, tropical storms, and other weather events that can knock out power for an extended period of time, I'm always on the lookout for products that we could use with our portable generators when the power is out. This ice maker did fit what I am looking for (DC power), so I got it. It's compact and has a handle which makes it easy for me to pick up and move. The package also included a 7 ft. AC power cord, an 8 ft. DC power cord, an ice scoop, and an Instruction Manual. It's easy to operate, and the water tank will hold about 32 ounces of water. I tested out how fast it would make ice and I found (Whether I used AC power or DC power) that it will make a batch of ice (9 cubes) in 7 minutes. Also, it does produce two different cube sizes, and took about 1.5 hours for the ice bucket to be full. During the timed ice making countdown (On the LED display), the machine operates rather quietly. There is some noise when it drops the ice in the bucket and also when water is being added. Since the battery was not included, I can't say how it operates with a battery. With that being said, I'm happy with this machine because it will be useful to my wife and I during power outages.

This ice maker feels large and fairly heavy, even without the battery (sold separately), but it does have a carrying handle. It actually does make 9 small ice pieces in as little as 6 mins, but for large ice, 8-12 mins is more likely when first turned on. It uses about 4W when running and 0.01kWh to make a batch of large ice. Pieces are easy to crunch. The ice maker's feet left rubber residue on my desk the first four times I set it there, then it seemed to clear up. The ice basket is janky and hard to click back into place. I worry how often the manual cautions against contaminated ice and descaling is required every 2-4 weeks. To avoid ice contamination, the manual says to leave the maker set on its feet for at least 24 hours if it's been tipped and then to discard the first 4 sets of ice if it hasn't been used for awhile. This just makes me wonder what sort of contamination could be present and is it still there in small amounts even if you follow the directions? Can you carry it in a car and use it without leveling it again for 24 hours? The manual talks a lot about cleaning regularly and implies the machine will develop hard-water residue that requires cleaning with vinegar or ice maker cleaning fluid every 2 to 4 weeks. It comes with a map of how hard the water tends to be throughout the USA to decide between 2-4 weeks. It also has a self-cleaning mode to run water or cleaner through the mechanism. To make ice, the manual says to press the mode button to select ice cube size (large or small), then press and hold on/off to start making ice. This is backwards, because you can't press mode to select size until you've held on/off to turn it on. Large/small just controls how long the ice rods remain dipped in a pool of water. Large forms bullet-shaped ice pieces with thicker walls by letting them form longer. To get ice in 6 mins, you need to select small. The machine seems to measure water temperature and adjust the time to make each 9-piece set of cubes accordingly, showing a countdown before the water is drained from a pool at the top and cubes are dumped into the output tray (see video). The actual thickness of large vs small seems pretty variable. I did a large, then small, without much difference, then my second large was far thicker. The manual says results will become more consistent with each batch. The output tray is removed by pulling at a release lever along the top of the tray. It removes easily, or it can be partially slid out and rest on hooks, but it's not so easy to get it on the hooks. When pushing it back in, you need to push firmly on both sides of the tray till it clicks into place, and the way it resists and feels like you might break something while needing two hands is not a good design. Overall, I dock a star for the poor ice tray design and feet leaving rubber residue, especially given the high price ($300). I dock another star for whatever contaminants might get into the ice and all the cleaning the manual implies will be required. Personally, I'd rather just use safe and simple ice trays, but this is useful if you want ice on the go, though it's not clear if carrying it in a car is considered tipping that would require sitting flat for 24 hours.

Was really excited in trying this out. There was one problem with it though at least with the one i got- the small ice icon in the control panel gives out big ice and vice versa. Maybe that's just a quirk. Anyway, setting up the whole thing is easy. Mine didn't come with battery though but that's an option. Used a regular outlet for power source. The MAX line in the water receptacle is hard to make out wish they made it more visible. When it starts making ice, takes 6 minutes for either big or small sized. Filled the ice container after 4-5 cycles maybe. But two cycles for me is enough for my glass. So that's 12 minutes. Not bad. It will keep on making ice until it runs out of water. And keeping the ice there would melt and the water will just drip back to the water compartment. it didn't overheat or anything, it's not very loud but a low-medium hum. The unit has a handle making it easy to transport- it is heavy. And with a battery can be used outdoors. Great product.

First of all this icemaker is extremely easy to use. It does require to be plugged in. If you don’t get the battery added it says built-in battery, but it’s not exactly built-in. You have to purchase it. It seems this package does not seem to come with it besides that it’s absolutely awesome. It has the ability to be plugged in solar or into a car or into your wall. It does come with a wall and car plug in adapter. It takes about two full glasses of water to fill up the water tank. I’ve been running it for over a day straight and it automatically stops when it fills up. The ice will melt right back into the water reservoir so there’s no wasted water. You are able to make two different sizes of ice cubes very easily and there’s not a whole lot to the functionality. It’s super simple and straight to the point while this is kind of an expensive piece of equipment. You have to understand it’s quite a luxury You can have this on your boat your RV in your car is you’re driving. It really just opens up the ability to get fresh ice. It contains quite a bit of ice on its own and can easily be dumped and refilled. It seems very efficient with its water use And I personally really love these ice cubes.
