This is strong and heavy not light and cheap. Works well. I was dragging 10k+ lb logs with it and it had no issues at all.

Works well with a tractor boom. If you are skidding from your tractor 3 point hitch (lower hooks) you will need a helper to hold tongs in place. Would have been good to know that before I bought it. But, overall works well, sturdy. I'm pulling large logs. Also helps with holding large logs up off the ground for cutting. Recommend for larger tractors if you use a boom.

These are HEAVY DUTY I used them to load 40 diameter maple blocks on and off our wood wagon with a large tractor front loader. They dig right in and hold tight. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is serious about firewood production as I am

These skidding tongs work exactly as they should. They’re heavy, well made, bite well and will last a very long time if they aren’t abused or used in ways they weren’t intended (lifting for example - they’re not shaped for lifting and would be dangerous if used that way). The complaints I’ve read must be from people who don’t know how to properly use them or want them to do things they can’t. In brief, find the approximate centerline of the log, make sure the tongs are far enough onto the log to give the points enough material to bite (6” at a minimum), jab them in one at a time (tap them with a hammer or a club if needed to get them in a bit) and keep tension on the tongs to keep them in place until you start pulling. Once they’re under load they’ll stay in the log and only bite deeper as resistance goes up. The only time I’ve had them come loose was when a log started sliding down a slight slope faster than I was pulling and lost all tension. Setting the tongs in place can be tough to do by yourself the first couple times you use them, but you get the hang of it very quickly. The toughest part is the weight - these are very heavy so work smarter rather than harder. Or get a helper. Either way works.

They work very well and the points come together into a very nice point. I was able to pickup some boulders as well as some very large tree trunks.

i had a couple of fence posts that rotted off leaving the 150 pound concrete there were set in buried in clay mud that was like a vacuum. i tried breaking with an air hammer, the concrete was too hard. Digging it out would have been very time consuming, and with the wet clay, hard to lever out. So i figured, tongs would work great with the confined access. As you can see in the pictures, i fashioned a crane from some cinder blocks, the old fence posts and a car jack. i was pleasantly surprised at how easily the concrete blocks lifted out in less that 5 minutes. The tongs latched on under a lip of concrete on either side. The tongs are very heavy duty, the steel gauge was thicker than anticipated and more than adequate for the task i used them on. i imagine they'd work great with their intended use of trees as well. :-)
