Snoop did a television interview about this project. He stated that his grandmother always took him to church as a child and he always remembered the teachings. He got older and the world stepped in, and then came the gangs and the rap career, and he always wanted to embark on a gospel project. Now that he's older and financially set, he wanted to put together a gospel cd and dedicate it to his grandmother. CLEARLY, he did that! With this 2 disc release, he drafted the best in the business and put together a MASTERPIECE! He recruited John P. Kee, Fred Hammond, Faith Evans, Ev3, Kim Burrell, Rance Allen, Patti LaBelle, Ty Tribbett, Charlie Wilson, Jazzie Pha, K-Ci, Mary Mary, and so many more, and created a sound of pure gospel and a resounding thanks to the one above. To make it even better, he rapped on some tracks and gave spoken words on others for a more personal touch. After popping this in, I couldn't find one track that I loved more, because I loved them ALL! This should be a Grammy nominated and winning release, because he put his foot, heart and soul in this release and letting the world know that he is more than just shades and cornrows. He's a man who NEVER forgot where he came from and how he was raised and what he always learned. He did THAT! On a side note, even though I loved and constantly had it on repeat, there were two tracks that I was drawn to. Both performed by Snoop & B. Slade, they were PAIN & WORDS ARE FEW, the latter being Snoop's more personal track. To anyone that was a Snoop fan and took this in, then WELCOME to the offering of Snoop's willingness to release onto the world his past now reinvented and being willing to embrace this project as willing as he was to release it. To anyone that was a Snoop fan and totally turning their backs on it, then see you the next cd and take care. Snoop, me and the rest of the world GOT THIS, and right now, I'm not that willing to let it go. CONGRATS AND THANKS BROTHER SNOOP!!!

Its a good CD but I wish there were more fast songs. But BEWARE it does have an advisory because 1 of the songs mentions smoking weed, uses the "B" word & the "N" word. I don't find it offensive but those who are very religious may.

I can hear some saying, 'A Gospel CD, by.....Snoop?'. Thankfully, I saw a segment of a show called UnCensored where Snoop discussed this CD as a tribute to his mom and grandmother raising him in the church. Then, my sister-in-law let met listen to her copy; and I immediately fell in love with it, and purchased my own. This is a complilation of old and new gospel arrangements by people with whom you are familiar (The Clark Sisters, the Rance Allen Group, B. Slade/a.k.a Tonex) and new songs by people like Charlie Wilson. I can definitely 'hear; the influence of growing up in, leaving, and then perhaps returning to the church. When you've really been rooted in church...it always stays with you. That's what this CD/collection of songs does-it reminds you of that foundation.

This is a great CD, filled with very talented and soulfull singers. It is very well directed and produced, and that is the magic that really makes this CD great. The overall tone is somewhat mellow, but not boring at all. Snoop is on it, but just enough, not too much. That goes for the album as a whole, it is tastefully done. I was also very skeptical when I got the CD, but now I highly recommend it. All of the songs on this Gospel CD are good, I haven't heard one I didn't like yet which is Amazing for having a mix of Gospel artist on a CD, how did Snoop do it? I must admit I would like to see a Gospel CD of 100% Snoop Dogg, perhaps that will be his next! One can dream!....

Sieht man mal von den Gospel- lastigen Stücken ab, die auch „weiß Gott „nicht schlecht sind, läuft Snoop Dogg wieder zur alten Hochform auf!! Sehr Empfehlenswert!
