I live in VA, so we don’t get a lot of snow. (Not like Upstate NY!) For context, I bought this several years ago and I’ve only used it up to five times. I used it again today and it really did a beautiful job. I live in an apartment so I’m only clearing one spot, but with a bad back, that’s a lot. We got about 5” overnight. It was kind of wet underneath, but on top was pretty light. I ran this thing like a vacuum cleaner between cars without worry. I moved my vehicle out of the way and I swear it was just like vacuuming a rug. It did bog down with the heavier snow, but if you take your time and don’t try to choke it, it is more than capable. Also, if I bogged it down too much, it just stopped until it could move again. This only shoots snow straight ahead, which is great for use between vehicles, but the back of the spot collected a lot of heavier snow. That’s where that second handle becomes a brilliant idea. I can lift the machine (in pretty good balance) to skim the top of the snow, making the snowbank much more digestible. Half, or a quarter overlap and you’ll be fine. Highly recommend this for small applications like mine. Decks. Sidewalks. Perfect!

2024 Update: This is the second season with the Snow Joe Cordless Shovel. I have an 18" Snow Joe Blower, corded, and now I only use for snow accumulations over 10 inches. Otherwise I just grab the shovel and make short work of the light snow accumulations. I am mobility challenged, but I can use and manipulate this much easier than the Blower. It is powerful, light weight, and quick, and while I have two batteries, I've never had to change batteries mid-stream. I bought it to use on my wooden decks, but I tried it on a 60 foot driveway, I love it. However, you do need to be wary of small rocks, and larger branches, which will jam, and stop the blades. ============= I bought this mainly to help clear snow from three wooden decks. I've used it twice after two snow storms. I gave it four stars because you have no control over the direction of the blown snow; generally, it is up, and slightly forward. Because of that, on a deck, your blown snow will be packed against the posts, and pickets, etc, and under the lower railing (if you have them.); and against the outside walls of the house. So, be advised that you will still be doing a fair amount of shovel work, though not the usual amount of bending, and lifting, and throwing. It works best with new, shallow snow, and it takes a little more work if the snow is deeper (say 10"), and heavy. It will jam, and stop if the snow is packed too much; (be careful, the blades are plastic). (With the deeper snow, I found it works best if you just work the edge instead of the center, and make more passes.) Overall, I think this snow shovel, along with my Snow Joe Snow Blower, will make my snow clearing much easier.

This product is no joke. It throws snow easily and makes shoveling a breeze. You can even take on heavier snow as long as you do it in layers. I successfully shoveled out about 6 inches of snow from my driveway. Battery life is good enough, I don't have a huge house. My old gripe was that putting it together was a bit of a pain but honestly its not too bad.

Update 12/29: customer service was easy! They sent a pre-paid UPS form and I boxed it up and sent it back and they will send a new one. I will use it for smaller areas and will update after a few uses if we get more snow. Bought in Feb as it was discounted, and did not use until today (Dec 26th). Battery life was great, unit is lightweight and easy to maneuver. I knew it was not meant for heavy snow and we just got about an inch or so of dry snow. It really is a glorified snow shovel as it pushed more than it blew. I had to go over each area twice as it would just blow it back where I just used it. Having to push the safety in each time is a huge PITA. After using it for about 30 minutes, I noticed smoke coming from the engine and a burnt rubber smell. The battery was low, so cleaned out the snow and let the battery recharge, when I came back out to use it again, it did not start. The burnt rubber smell was still there, but not even a sign of power...its dead. As the picture shows, it was not heavy snow, nor deep snow. Deeply disappointed and will reach out to the company to see what they say.

Well it’s good for a little snow but not deep and it blows in front not any way to adjust it to blow to the side also after you do a lot your arm aches because it is on the heavy side and another thing you have to bring it in can’t leave it sit on the porch because of the battery so you have to have a place to set it because it leaks a lot of water from all the snow that gets up in it and if you would leave it out somebody probably would steal it and it’s not too easy to put together the wires that are in the handle you have to put a screw through and push those wires around and I had to get my husband to help me most things I do by myself but this was a little harder overall this is a good little shovel for 1 to 2 inches of snow maybe a little more but when you get up to 9 inches doesn’t work too well

Purchased this product for my brother because he had one awhile ago. He used it and realized that it wasn't what he wanted. So I decided to keep it myself. I'm very good at shoving and I thought I try it for myself. Once I started to use it and got the hang of it I was very excited about it. This product does a great job for light snow and not so deep.

Lightweight and works excellent. I’m disabled and my mom is elderly. We have no problem using it. It’s a lot stronger than you think but light enough you can throw it in your trunk and go to the your grandma‘s and do hers too..
