Worked amazingly well through carpet on the upper level of home. Loud, obnoxious squeaks gone or barely there. In really loud areas you had to place the screws about 4” apart. It takes some work but if you follow the directions it really fixes squeaky floors.

I bought this product because my floor, specifically the entryway to my bedroom, was literally driving me mad. It just kept getting worse and worse, being a high traffic area due to the pandemic...and hey, I just like lazing in bed as much as possible. I am not what you would call handy, nor do I have any real experience with fixing things around the house...but I gave this a shot. It hasn't completely solved my problem, but the squeaking went from so loud I was internally screaming to being just a soft, barely noticeable noise. PROS** - Comes with everything but the drill! - Very easy to understand instructions for even the most inept - Plenty of screws to use, no 2nd pack to buy necessary! - The heads really do snap off under the carpet, very easily. Nothing has come up through our carpet! - This is literally so easy to use, and there's plenty of youtube videos to watch as well before your attempt. - Works very well at greatly reducing to completely eliminating squeaks! - Great price for peace of mind! **CONS - Doesn't 100% work garunteed, could be other technical issues with your flooring that I won't even pretend like I could explain what that could be..just read the other reviews. Overall, 1000% recommend if your floor is driving you insane. It's so, so easy to use!

There is nothing more annoying than a squeaky subfloor, especially in a house that you paid good money for. Imagine my surprise when our relatively new home ended up having the squeaks and groans of a turn of the century barn house. The main floor creaks were easily dealt with, as I had access to them via the basement. For the 2nd floor squeaks however, they were not as easy...initially. Let me first say that I have purchased this product twice. The first time around I was not impressed at all, and although it seemingly took care of my floor noise in the master bedroom for a day or two, the ruckus quickly returned and I was so angry that I returned the product. After spending several hours and putting tens of screws through your carpet, you expect the problem to be fixed. Lo and behold I eventually discovered that it was not the subfloor that was doing most of the squeaking, but rather the baseboard/wall to floor connection! (see image) Apparently over time it is very common for the fasteners that secure your walls to your floor to get a little loose, especially in climates with drastic temperature fluctuations. THIS problem is easily fixed by hammering shims in between your carpet and your baseboard...it really works!!! So please check and see if that is the problem before you decide that this product doesn't work. On to my review... The system itself is pretty straightforward and the kit comes with everything you might need to be successful. These screws really DO break off under the carpet & padding and you will never know they are there! I have very close pile berber carpeting (see image) and I had no issues. Just make sure that you drive the screw down until there is only barely enough room to get the break-off tool onto the head of the screw and I promise you that you will be fine. Everything seems to be of high quality and I haven't had issues with anything breaking. Protip: When using the floor joist finder screws (there are two), make sure that you alternate every couple uses because they can get extremely hot and would probably break if used repeatedly many times in a row in a short amount of time. Finding the squeaks is generally easy. Finding the floor joists themselves can be a little trickier. Get down on your hands and knees in the general vicinity of the squeaks and press down hard with your fists moving perpendicular to your floor joists...eventually you will get to a point where when you press down, it will be silent! This is probably where your floor joist is and you have moved on to another piece of subfloor. Then you can use your joist finding tool to make sure that you are on the joist. The kit explains exactly how to use them properly. Keep in mind that you will probably need to use at least 2-3 screws for every squeak, as it is difficult to exactly hit the edge of the piece of subfloor and secure directly into the joist at the perfect spot. You can use a tape measure to get the distance from the wall to where your floor joist is (going perpendicular once again) and drive a few screws into the joist, staying as close to the edge of that piece of subfloor as you possibly can. I usually vary by 1/2 inch in either direction to make sure that at least 1-2 of my screws is in the exact position it needs to be. When snapping off the screw heads make sure that the screw is driven in AT LEAST as far as the tool will let you go. Going a little further will not hurt anything; but make sure you have some vice grips handy to snap the screw head off if you'd like to go a little deeper than the tool will allow. I generally go another full rotation sans tool very slowly to make sure I'm getting the best contact possible. I can also still use the tool to snap off the screw head going to that depth. YMMV. All in all, this kit successfully quieted many of my random squeaks throughout the house. Some are still there, but are so faint that only I would notice them; which I think is an acceptable solution considering I did not want to have to pull up carpet to re-secure and entire subfloor. This kit is not 100% effective, but is probably 80-90% effective at quieting your typical subfloor squeaks and noises; which I think is fantastic. O'Berry has done a very good job with this innovative kit.

Used this in my 1953 Florida bungalow with original hardwood floors. It did reduce a couple of the worst squeaks temporarily, but a few months later, I’m starting to hear some minor squeaks creeping back in. I made about a dozen holes to install the screws, which I then had to fill and colormatch, so it’s not exactly mess-free. It’s definitely cheaper and less invasive than hiring a flooring company to shim from below—if that’s even an option—but don’t expect a permanent fix. A decent short-term solution, just go in with realistic expectations.

I used this for a carpeted floor. I found the joists near the wall, then screwed in deck screws on each end, just enough to hold. Then I tied a thin string to both, giving me a line down the middle of the joists. I found it best to insert the break off screws into the sub floor, just enough to hold it, and then put the guide over it. Turn down the speed on your drill, and screw it in slow and steady with even downward pressure. I screwed in all 50 with no problem, and they all easily broke off. Highly recommended.

When my wife mentioned that there was a product that could fix squeaks without having to raise the carpet / underlay, I didn't believe her. Now I do. This product is brilliant - it really works! Whoever invented the screw (2 different threads and a deliberate weak spot to snap off) is a genius. The hard part is finding the original joist to drill into, but thats a different issue - using the (included) joist finder screw worked best, once I had a rough idea of where to start. Its not the cheapest, but much cheaper than paying a carpet fitter / carpenter etc.

I have a finished basement so could not access the the upstairs floor without ripping down the ceiling drywall .. so any fix from underneath was ruled out. Talking with flooring professionals they are wanted to rip out the hardwood and put in engineered hardwood - for my house of 1300 sq feet that would be 17,000$ . this product worked wonders and has eliminated most of my squeaks in the main areas of concern - mostly hallways - heavily travelled areas. I recommend ordering the package with more screws as I ordered the one with 50 screws - that wasn't enough .. only enough for one long hallway - but I do know now that this product works so I will be ordering the 250 screw package to continue my de-squeaking of my maple hardwood floors 1958 vintage.

I had a squeaky subfloor in my walk in robe that drove me crazy for 4 years. After watching a few YouTube videos, I decided to buy Squeek no more. Note I also used my Ryobi stud finder to find the joist. One screw in and the squeak was gone. Yes the screw does break off cleanly in the joist and can't feel anything through carpet. No holes noticed in the carpet.

the concept works and stops the squeak. my only reason to give 4 stars is the drill bit that you need to use to find out if there is a joist or not (where you want to screw and stop the squeak coming) has very small head for power drill to grip to it. The reason this needs a bigger head is because once you drilled through the layer off the floor and if there is no joist, the drill bit should slide up and down which means there is no joist and that is where my power drill losing the grip to it and makes it impossible to move the drill bit up or down. I hope "O1Berry" will take that into account and make some changes to make it even better product. As I said it does the job once you managed to find the joist :-)
