This (semi) dumb phone was super easy to set up with T-Mobile. has limited apps; which is great for a teenager. The camera is actually better than I thought and have had no connection issues. A definite score if you are looking for a dumb phone.

phone arrived locked. after installing SIM, the phone wouldn't let me change the carrier Access Point from T-Mobile US 240 to mint. False advertising Amazon Refurbishment Center or poor quality control, as the carrier found the phone was locked with a simple lookup of the IMEI. You are a trillion dollar company, step up.

Click to play video Hubby and I were looking for a dumbphone for our digital detox without spending too much money. After some research, we decided on this one—the TCL Flip 2. It’s not the Alcatel My Flip 2 (or something like that). They are similar but not the same. I dare say this one is better because it runs on Android, whereas the other, as far as I know, uses the KaIOS system. Since it’s an Android phone, I had doubts about whether it was truly a dumbphone. To my surprise, it actually is. This phone doesn’t have the Play Store, so you can’t simply download apps and end up failing your digital detox. It’s a very limited device, but it still provides enough technology to function in daily life. I believe it’s made of plastic, which is great because I don’t have to worry about breaking glass or damaging aluminum. I’d say the material is decent and serves its purpose well. It’s lightweight, even though it has two parts (it’s a flip phone, after all). It supports 4G, WiFi, and Bluetooth, allows group text messaging, and even displays emojis (which many dumbphones don’t). The call quality is just as good as my iPhone 13 Pro, text messages work as they should, and it functions with Mint Mobile (so I assume it also works with T-Mobile, since Mint uses their network). You can even insert an SD card and listen to music. It has a headphone jack, but you can also use wireless earbuds thanks to its Bluetooth capability. The battery is amazing—it lasts about 3 to 4 days, depending on usage. It has a browser, but it’s inconvenient to use—which I love because I don’t want to waste time mindlessly scrolling on a screen. Hubby and I love this phone. I just wish it had maps and at least WhatsApp. Because of this, I carry my smartphone when I need navigation and check WhatsApp on my laptop. I know you can customize it using apps from Apps4Flip.com, but I still don’t know how to do that. I think it’s a great device for the price, and if you’re more tech-savvy than I am, you can probably get even more out of it. The seller, EKings (I think that’s the name, but if not, it’s something similar), was really good. The seller you choose on the Amazon Renewal Store makes a difference, and I recommend this one. They shipped it quickly, and the packaging was excellent—every piece was carefully stored separately in the box, which I really appreciated. I believe it wasn’t eligible for free returns, but since I don’t intend to return it, I can’t comment on that aspect. I’m completely satisfied and highly recommend it! I updated my iPhone to iOS 18 and experienced severe headaches. So much so, the device became unusable and have been unable to use a smart phone since. I purchased this phone as a last resort, and it worked out for me (praise God). I was able to insert my sim into this phone, and it worked in a matter of seconds. Coming from a smart phone, this phone is extremely basic, but it does what it's supposed to do. I am able to make calls, text, add my music, and I use the calendar and stopwatch feature time to time. The picture quality is poor, and I was unable to link my email successfully to the phone. I rarely text ever now (due to it taking so long to key) but I am able to if needed. However, the sound quality is fair, the calls are crisp, and I can play my music. So, it has its pros and cons. But for the price and for what I can do it's a good phone. I would recommend. Oh yea, the battery life is good too. I can go probably two days w/o a charge. But take in account, I'm rarely on my phone like that anymore. But overall, if you're looking for a work phone, back up phone or just have unfortunate situation, I recommend.

Pretty good basic phone for my young teens. I got US Mobile service for 10 bucks a month and overall I’m pretty happy. Charges fast and holds a charge. Well built and looks like it’ll last a while, not like other expensive flip phones they have owned in the past. So far 10 outta 10!

I purchased this for an elderly friend that lives alone so she could take this phone with her in case she fall down and needs to call for help. Everything has worked great with the phone. It was her first mobile phone and it was easy for her to understand it. No issues to report.

Vendor said it was unlocked. It was not unlocked. The phone appeared ok, but who knows without it working?

Working features: 1. Rogers SIM works fine. 2. Bluetooth works well - Bluetooth headphones or earphones. 3. Works as a mobile hotspot - other wifi devices can connect. 4. The music player sounds quite good, and the MP3s work well. 5. Asian characters (such as Korean) are displayed correctly. 6. Can connect to a PC and transfer files just like an external storage (both main memory and microSD card) Trouble: 1. I could not connect to popular email servers (Yahoo, Gmail, and Outlook). All in all, I like it. It is much easier to answer calls (you can open it). It's lighter to carry in your pocket, too. By the way, I'm not a senior. This phone makes sense to all.

Looks good and works well. It was bigger than I imagined, but that was my bad for not checking out more pictures of what it looks in the average person's hand. Appreciate the addition of a charger.
