I bought this as I already do small soldering projects and other small projects where I need to magnify things significantly. I have an older very expensive Bausch & Lomb stereo microscope but I have to shove my face against it just right and it's very awkward, needless to say. That and an LED-lit magnifying glass but that's a fixed magnification and not enough to do some of the really small stuff. With this unit, there's a nice display - and if I need a bigger display I can hook up a larger monitor to it via HDMI (even includes the cable!) Records video and stills to the included SD micro card as well. Heck, it even includes a remote so you don't disturb the unit trying to take a picture or video! The display itself is nice and clear, the extra little lights help plenty but the camera is pretty good about adjusting to brightness on its own. Focus is super easy to do and gets plenty clear enough for me to do my work. Geared riser works excellent and can give you an overall big picture or get down pretty close. Very helpful for soldering small surface mount electronics or working on watches. Runs off USB (doesn't include an AC adapter but I bought myself an extension cord/surge protector that has some USB outlets on it so I don't need a wall wart.) The ONLY complaint I have (and it's extremely minor) is the bolt used to tighten the geared riser is extremely tough (without a wrench.) I designed and 3D printed a simple knurled knob that gives you enough leverage to tighten/loosen the bolt without a wrench. That way I don't have to go run and dig in my toolbox for a wrench just to adjust it (if even necessary.) I will say that the base where the lights are has it's own battery, so you'll have to charge that separately (again, cable included at least!) but it's something you'll need to be aware of when using it. Best part is, I was able to show my 9 year old how to solder and he took to it like a pro after watching me do it on the microscope.

Item is very well worth the price. The 7" display is a perfect size and the focal range is outstanding. The display is clear and crisp. You're able to view entire coin and take pics/video for your collection. Solid construction, professional look and feel instead of something that appears like it came from the toy section. Cons: 1. Can't rename pics and see them on the playback mode. The file name must list "PICT" followed by a 4-digit number (PICT0010). Any pics imported to SD card, must be renamed into this format too, plus also be set for the same resolutions or the pic will be distorted. 2. If you disconnect USB or HDMI cable, the unit shuts down, thus you have to power it back up to continue using. 3. Unit should come with a dual USB-A Charger Block (unit only comes with cables).

Click to play video The camera scope is an amazing tool and has helped me learn and do lots of small soldering projects. Pic 3 is a picture of the screen quality. Pros - can zoom in sooooooo close it's wild. Love how close I can get. - when given proper light the image quality is very good. 7/10 - plastic guard around the camera keeps it protected from your iron - includes cables and internal battery so it can be portable if needed. -robust and easy adjustment. Cons -screen quality is poor. 5/10 some times artifacts hot lighting spots are present. (Resolved by using external monitor) -camera sometimes will have a banding effect that can make it difficult to see. Playing with the amount of light or zooming slightly more really helps. - I wish the working pad area was larger and slightly heavier. - the included LED lights have short adjustable arms making it hard for them to stay directed. If they were just two inches longer each you could manipulate them any way you want. Overall I really like this tool. It has some quirks but it's a budget version of a very expensive and helpful tool. If you need it for just a few jobs this will work. I have modded a few devices now and have it set up with an external monitor and a desk lamp for extra light and clarity.

I’ve been using the microscope for about 1.5 months now and quite pleased with my purchase. The scope arrived well packaged and requires a little assembly. You’ll want to have an adjustable wrench on hand but no other tools are required. The collar that the Vertical Support sits in has a bolt to secure the support in place and you won’t be able to loosen/tighten it by hand. When the scope is first turned on it comes up on video mode which has a slightly lower magnification level than the camera mode. You’ll notice the difference immediately when switching between the two modes. Overall, operation is simple and easy. I mostly use the scope in camera mode to examine coins but other uses are only limited to your imagination. Note that the scope assembly can be used without the mounting assembly, just takes a steady hand to keep it in focus. Pros: Small, light-weight, good magnification, portable (can be used in the field), has an HDMI connection to display the image on your PC screen, 32Gb micro SD card included, includes remote control. Cons: No micro SD card adapter (my PC won’t accept the small micro card), no way to attach the remote to the camera body for storage (see Improvement suggestions below). Improvements: I added a cardboard ‘compartment’ to the underside of the platform. This allows me to slide the remove into the opening and avoids losing the remote. See pics. Not really an improvement but a way to squeeze a little more magnification out of the lens. The lowest downward vertical travel of the camera is limited by the vertical support bottoming out in its holder. By placing the object to observe on a raised platform (say a book at least 1/8 inch thick), you can lower the camera body closer to the object and still be able to focus. Removing the lens shield you can get even closer but be careful not to allow the lens to touch the object or you’ll damage the lens.

This works great but wish I had bought the 10" screen model.

I liked the easy setup. The instruction booklet was expertly done and following the written instructions that accompanied the brilliant photos made for an easy and quick setup. The only negative thing about this item is the power sources. No where in the online description or the online photos does it mention or show external power sources. For the unit to work you need two separate power sources which you have to find. This is only mentioned in the accompanying booklet. Therefore the rating.

This amazing Microscope, is about the best tool for anyone into analyzing coins. I love the fact that we don't need special drivers to connect it to the computer. This is my fifth microscope. All the other ones, have not been as efficient as I needed them to be, and so wasn't the quality. The Worse of them is that, I couldn't even connect them to the computer. So, I definitely recommend this amazing Microscope and the company as well.👌
