Still cant believe i scored this AX3000 on black friday, used, for $50. setup was a breeze and functionality is off the charts. paying for 500mbps fiber and i constantly am getting 800+mbps. Coverage was as expected, speed went down about half-ways 2 rooms over on 5ghz, but holds up a little better on 2.4ghz. If you get this router used, and on sale you'll receive great value for your money! cheers!

Great condition. No scratches. Speeds are there. 450mbps on LAN. And my WiFi doesn’t lag. I used the TP link app to install it. Super easy.

Overall, it's not a bad router. I have a specific gripe with this device and, despite my desire to rate this at 2-3 stars, I will give it the benefit of the doubt as the router does perform well in its primary directive: that is, to provide fast and reliable wired and wireless speeds over 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections. That said, my issue is with the USB port on the back. Between these asterisks is my rant about that issue. If you don't care about network USB storage, you can skip past the second row of asterisks. ********************* Unfortunately, there are not many reputable router brand names in the United States that you can trust. Amazon's pages are flooded with third-party brands with very little track record or Chinese manufacturers that either A) have a name you could never pronounce; or B) don't even have a brand name. So, I went with TP-Link. I had been using a Google Mesh Router for several years and recently upgraded to 1Gbps service but was disappointed in my download results from Google, maxing out around 750Mbps. I was also looking for a router with a USB 3.0 port so I could attach an external m.2 SSD drive to quickly transfer files around the house. I was really excited to get the USB port fired up ... but then I hooked it up. It's not USB 3.0 speeds, not even close. I'm not even sure how they're allowed to advertise USB 3.0 speeds on this device despite it not being even close. And if you think I'm just doing something wrong or being conspiratorial ... read on. While searching for answers as to why I was only getting 20MBps transfers to my m.2 SSD (which is rated at 1,400MBps but still should get near 500MBps over USB 3.0), I found this response from an official TP-Link moderator (Sunshine) on the official online support forum for the company: "Due to the limit of the CPU capability ... the USB 3.0 port on the router could not reach the speed. ... According to our test result, around 30MBps for USB 3.0 port on this router is the actual speed. So, the USB 3.0 speed of your router is normal." (end quote) That's right. Even though this is listed as having USB 3.0 speeds (up to 500MB/s), in the "real-world," the most you can get is about half of USB 2.0 speeds (60MB/s) or around 30MB/s. Mind you, USB 2.0 is technology from April 2000 -- 24 years ago. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in that. ****************************** OK, now that my attached storage rant is over, I will detail my thoughts about the rest of the router's functions: It's brilliant! Yes, even though I'm extremely dissatisfied with the USB speeds, the basic functionality of this router is great. SETUP It's very easy, and you have the choice of using an app called "Tether" or using your PC's web browser at http://192.168.0.1/. The user interface is very clean and intuitive (see image). I've used many that were cluttered and not very organized, but this is laid out very well. Access to things such as port forwarding, Alexa/Google assistants, QoS, wireless settings and, ahem, USB port, is straight forward, and so far, all of the functions I've tested and worked good, with the exception of the USB port (read between the asterisks if interested). SPEEDS I'm getting consistently fast download speeds from my 1Gbps service of over 900MBs and WiFi speeds, depending on device, approach 800 or even higher. CONNECTIVITY The range is good and much better than my previous Google router. I went from getting a signal of 58 to a signal of 47 on my Ring doorbell camera with the TP-Link router (lower is better), which is in the same exact spot that my previous router was. I also use a Wi-Fi extender in my apartment as this is a brick house with a lot of walls and the switch was seamless by using the same SSID and password. OVERALL As I mentioned previously, I'm giving this 4 stars despite my desire to leave a lower rating because of my issues with USB. However, since I feel the primary purpose of this router is to provide fast and reliable internet connections via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, I feel it would only be fair to judge this device mainly for that function, of which it does well. I'm definitely knocking off 1 star for the USB speeds, but overall, I think I'd still recommend this, especially if you can find a good deal on it as I did here with the refurbished version.

I am a bit stymied why this unit performed so dismally. Of course it has lots of the latest new tech features like beam-forming and MU-MIMO. It was easy enough to set up and the Wifi signal was sufficiently strong. But here's the thing, the baffling thing: while it showed stellar results on any basic internet speed test, such as the Ookla test or its own built-in speed tester, when the unit was put in to actual practice, especially doing tasks that are (I presume) heavy in 'protocol' and 'hand-shaking', such as emailing and such as streaming, it faltered HORRIBLY! I could write an email that simply said "hello" and when I hit Send I would have to wait a good 30 to 40 seconds for it to complete!! And I had previously enjoyed tuning in to MSNBC.com, to watch that news channel, but with this router it would consistently falter and the stream would break/abort, sometimes after a mere minute, and sometimes after 10 or more minutes, but failure was 100% predictable! Much of my Web surfing activities seemed sub standard. I don't understand it. I returned the unit. Though technically a bit slower, I went back to my previous single-band router and everything was fixed and right again. I am still hoping to acquire a good dual-band 2.4&5GHz router but I have serious doubts. My next purchase will be the cheapest on the market and I'll be poised to quickly return it if it falters.

I purchased this router to use as a Wireless Access Point. I have an AX55 as my primary router, and the AX50 as the secondary router. I have a ranch home and I have the two routers at opposite ends of the house, giving me great signal strength throughout the entire house. I have 500Mbps internet, and I get the full 500Mbps speed on my laptop (wireless). When I first setup the router, I got the full 500 WiFi speed. However, after a few days, the WiFi speed dropped to around 85Mbps. Rebooting the router didn't help. I called Amazon customer support and they put me in touch with a TP-Link tech. After doing a number of different tests, we found that even the wired ethernet port was not giving the full speed. After verifying that the cable going into the router had the full speed, I plugged everything back together and the speed has been great since. I don't know if I plugged the input ethernet cable into the same LAN port (I wasn't using the built-in WAP configuration). I'm guessing that perhaps one of the LAN ports was bad, and after testing, another LAN port was used. Whatever the reason, it's been working great for over a month now.

My apartment is 2000 square feet and this router can barely cover half of it. My older tp-link ac1800 did a better job. Now I have to decide whether to get a whole new router or start adding extenders.
