Honestly this is the best router I've ever owned. I've had Netgear, Linksys, and whatever garbage Xfinity rents out. This takes the cake in terms of performance. The range is only slightly less than my previous Linksys router but it makes up for it in speed and stability. Also, the range might be slightly less but it performs better in the areas with weaker signal. It also covers areas better than my Linksys router so I think the beam convergence is much better. The icing on the cake is the Tether app. Makes setup and settings incredibly easy to set and change. Love it! I know recently there are worries about it being a Chinese company and cybersecurity issues and what not but honestly for me, it doesn't matter. The only thing they are going to see if they spy on me is Tik Tok videos and google searches to dumb questions. For me the $80 is worth it.

This is a very popular router for many reasons. It is easy to install, configure, and use, is reliable, has a good track record, performs well, and looks good. It also has one other feature which is very rare in routers these days, and that is a hard-wired switch to shut off the wifi radios. Now, I know that most people love and drool all over themselves because of wifi, but I don't really care for it. I don't like adding even more RF radiation to my environment, and I prefer the security of wired circuits. Yeah, I know I'm old school, but that doesn't make my reasons for avoiding wifi any less true. I like the physical switch because software switches can be compromised more easily. A physical switch requires a physical presence to engage the switch. It can't be compromised from an online or otherwise software based attack. On some occassions, I have to use wifi (phone updates, etc.), so I like having the option to turn it on when needed. This is the only router I have found which has that capability. I think it is stupid that others don't have this capability. When I have used the wifi, it has worked well. I found setup very easy with plenty of instruction available online. It was instatnly compatible with my Spectrum cable modem, and I have have absolutely no issues with it in about a year of use. I cannot speak to the extra security features, as I also have a hard-wired cuttoff switch to air gap the router from the modem when not in use. I also turn the router off when not being used for long periods of time. The display LEDs are very simple and make it quite easy to monitor the status of the router, its connection to computers, its connetion to the modem, and the on or off status of the wifi radios. Simple and effective. I have just bought another one on sale for future use in creating an internal network which will not connect to the internet. I find it to be well designed, functional, and so far pretty much trouble free. Your mileage may vary. If any US company wants to compete with TP-Link for making a really great router, they would do well to study the design of this router. And, for Heaven's sake, put mechanical switches in for critical functions like shutting off various radios like wifi and bluetooth. Good job, TP-Link. I highly recommend this router. (Possible devious backdoors notwithstanding, IF they even exist).

No better than my 8 year old router. Looks fancy with 4 antennas and range is good but I see no difference in day to day operation over my older unit.

What a great way to update an outdated combo modem router. I’ve experienced very slow performance with my 8+ year old Arris 3.0 unit. After much research, adding a separate router appeared to be the way to go. I found this TP-Link Dual Band model on sale that had terrific reviews. While not a computer neofile I haven’t dealt much with setting up routers and modems and I was hesitant about doing so. The reviews made it sound easy. The directions and process was even easier than I expected and I was up and running in no time. My speed has doubled and there are no issues with interference with the old system and modem. The only thing remaining was logging all my devices into the new network which was easy and without any problems. This router saved me hundreds of dollars and substantially upgraded my network’s performance.

Excellent Router! Extremely user friendly, never drops WiFi connection (unless scheduled to auto reboot in the Router's App), and has had zero issues handling the 15+ PC's and services that my family constantly adds to it. Initial setup was easy as expected (I'd say even for someone with little to no networking experience, in my opinion). The included Tether app is extremely informative, very helpful with adding and removing devices from the network, and overall VERY easy to operate and execute what you're wanting to get done. The ability to boost specific devices and add parental controls to ones used by kids is a nice touch, and can be extremely useful and easy to execute when desired. Don't see myself needing a new router anytime soon, but assuming technology will continue to upgrade and change, I will definitely be going with a newer model of the same if available when the time comes!

Setting up the router was easy: start with admin password change/set new password configure name for SSID and choose to leave both separate or combine to smart switch. I selected smart option setup internet connection or skip. I choose to skip so I could copy info from my old router logged in to my old router from another device & setup internet side by sides Bandwidth, Speed, Coverage: wow it had long range with good bandwidth. I curranty had one main router and an extender as the main router could not cover my full house. I just replaced both with this one single router. even to the ends of my house I get 40-50MB bandwidth, which is like 2-3 walls behind. Multiple Network for isolation and protection plus Mesh: the router can be configured with network separation for more security. each network has 2.4 or 5G option Your home privet network can be combined with Smart option which broadcasts s single SSID but switched devices between 2.4 or 5G based on coverage or reach There are 4 network options and all can be managed or kept separate Home/privet network, IoT device network, guest network and LAN network (via cable) you can easily setup one mesh by adding more LP-Link mesh devices to extend you network if required (support only TP-link devices) Security option, Parental control and Tether app: the router comes inbuilt with basic security that checks for your router configuration if week or if you have a less secure configuration or password for your Wi-Fi network isolation, where you can isolate IoT devices from your home network it has paid upgrade to prevent intrusion, web filter and IOT device protection (monthly or yearly plan) the router can be managed over the internet via the tether app, you need to link it to your account to use it. parental control creates separate profiles per home user so you can add all their devices to their own profile & configure it separately. allow or block access using Tether app made easy. Over this router is a great option if you are looking for an upgrade with wifi 6 with inbuilt basic security options.

This router is the end of my long journey down a rabbit hole of trying to find a solution of "adding" more storage to an Android device that I felt does not have enough free space. My router before this in terms of wireless coverage wasn't bad, and its internet speed tests were usually 'fine'. However, the issue I realize it had was when I began to set up networked storage in my home and its local file transfer speeds over Wi-Fi were abysmal. After dealing with numerous settings on that router, going through two TP-Link extenders that ultimately did not resolve the issue, I ended up just getting this router instead. And I have to say, this fully solved my issue and easily surpassed all expectations that I had. For starters, my previous Wi-Fi 6 router only managed around 30Mbps when doing a wireless-to-wireless local file transfer between two devices. Whether doing a local speed test or deploying an SMB share. This router? Easily managed between 750-850Mbps, entirely over wireless. It was such an unbelievable increase in performance that that alone makes this worth it for me. Setup is as simple as any other router can be, possibly even easier with the ability to set it up with the mobile app that guides you through the entire process if you don't want to set it up via a computer with a web browser. Giving it the same SSID and password as my prior network allowed all of my devices to reconnect to the network as if nothing happened. Wi-Fi 6, 160MHz channel support, QoS, built in SMB, VPN, Access Control, ability to set it up as an AP, IoT isolation, this router has SO many features for its price, it's insane. The mobile app is great but you do need to go into the gateway on a browser to access its full host of features. There are new features being added to the router still in the form of firmware updates, that the router is still seemingly frequently receiving. This completely solved my goal of wanting to add networked storage in my home. It's so nice to be able to transfer files between all of my devices without ever needing to physically connect them again. Transferring files completely saturates the 1GbE NIC whether wireless or wired on all of my devices, and still leaves plenty of bandwidth on the router itself to allow other devices to function normally. There's not even much to say about its internet performance, it's great, of course. If you have a gigabit internet plan, you will have nothing to complain about whether wired or wireless utilizing this router. There are no less than a combination of 15 wired/wireless devices connected to this router and none of them experiencing any issues. I am very happy with this router!
