This is by far the best WIFI extender I have ever used. I have a multi level house and wifi is challenging. Full signal in some parts of the house and in others,..there is none. I have tried MANY MANY wifi units similar to this. I'm very tech savvy and pride myself in figuring stuff out with out directions. However, that is very different with some wifi extenders. They are complicated to set up and do not work good at all. I had good luck with the TP-Link light sockets with the echo and setup was a breeze. So I decided to take one more shot at yet another wifi extender. Choosing the TP-Link in hopes it would work just as good. I really don't understand these other reviews that state how hard it is to set up. This wifi extender is truly easy to set up. This is what i did,....Quick instructions right on the side of the box. Plug in the TP-Link, close to your router, the green light flashes, press the WPS button on your router, then press the signal button on the extender. The green light flashes, goes solid green, goes solid red then after 5-10 seconds the light stays solid green. The unit is now paired with your router. Now, Unplug the extender, walk to a midway point in your house close to the dead spot and plug it back in. It will blink green again, then solid green, then solid red, 5-10 seconds it turns solid green. Open any device you want to use for wifi, go to wifi settings and find your wifi name. Except the word _EXT will be after the device name. So if your normal wifi is GOOBER616 for example. It would now show as GOOBER616_EXT, Choose the Ext one and enter your normal password for wifi, and BOOM, FULL wifi signal. I now have wifi in every room in the house. If you plug the unit in and the light stays on solid yellow? Then move it to another socket closer to the router. Hope this helps anyone who has or has had a problem.

First things first, I paid full price for this because I needed it. I didn't get it for free and I'm not getting any incentives for reviewing it. I can't stand fake reviews and lukewarm "This was free so it's great, five stars" time wasters any more than anyone else can. My bedroom is a finished enclosed porch that was an addition onto the side of the house after it was built, so WiFi signal in here is horrible. And horrible WiFi signal combined with taking seven online classes due to the pandemic of 2020 is not a great combination. I get somewhat decent signal right next to the door, but in the ten or so feet it takes to walk to my bed the signal drops to the point of being practically unusable. I got sick of having to choose between sitting on the floor up against the door, or sitting comfortably in bed while my Zoom connections constantly lagged out and disconnected. I had been considering buying a WiFi range extender for quite some time, but I never got around to it because there was such a wide selection of them and none of them had particularly great reviews. I wanted to get the fastest best one on here but then I couldn't bring myself to pay $100 for a range extender with 3.5 star reviews, so I never bought one. I finally decided to go with this one because it was one of the cheapest ones on here, I have had previous positive experiences with TP-Link products, and I figured if it didn't work I could just return it. It's really easy to set up. I was under the impression that range extenders had to be plugged into the router with an ethernet cable but no, this is completely wireless. It has two antennas, and it picks up your router signal with one and extends it with the other. It plugs directly into an outlet. You get on your phone or computer and go to the website that is listed in the instructions and connect the extender to your WiFi network. This one only works on the 2.4 ghz band. When you're setting it up they tell you to do it right next to your router, then unplug it and move it to where you want it to go after you've got it set up, but I didn't do that and it still works just fine. I have my extender plugged in right next to the door, which is the place in my room that gets the best signal, and it makes it so I can get a good connection throughout my whole room. You need to have reasonable expectations before buying one of these. It's not going to magically make your network super fast, it's just going to make the signal reach a bit farther than it already does. I do not stream Netflix or play games or anything over this, I mainly just browse websites, stream video lectures, and attend Zoom video meetings, and it works great for these purposes. Personally I am extremely pleased with this little device and I really wish I had bought one months ago, it would have made my online classes go much more smoothly.

Original Review: First things first. I bought this thing a month before I wrote this review, so this is not the out of the box I got it and love it but have no idea how it really works kind of review. That being said, this has fixed the deadspot in my bonus room above the garage. I had an old D-Link router that used to work, but I think more and more 2.4 GHz devices in the neighborhood drowned it out. So, I bought I a high gain antenna. Problem solved, for about 6 months, then it quit working in the bonus room again. Bought a TP Link USB adapter for my computer and went away from the nano-receiver I was using. Problem solved for another year, then it quit working again in the bonus room on my PC. Went ahead and bought the ASUS RT-N66U mac daddy router. Problem solved, for about 2 years. Then it slowly quit working again, just got spotty and unreliable. I had had it. I finally gave up and tried an extender. People always seem to have problems with these things, but I had run out of options. I'm a review reader, I read lots of reviews. I want a WiFi appliance, plug it in, never touch again. The TP-Link one had some dings in reviews, but so did the Cisco one. I figured I'd go with TP-Link and rely on Amazon's return policy if I had problems. Once I got the unit, I was able to watch a couple videos online for setting it up (over wireless from my phone) and had it up and running. The place I wanted to put it didn't work. The second place I wanted to put it, the signal to the main router was weak causing light to turn orange, so I moved it across the room even closer. Simple, just unplug it and then plug it in somewhere else and watch for green lights, only green lights. No problems since that time and the light has always stayed green. It has been plugged in, operating 24/7 for over a month now with no problems. I stream movies through it to an Amazon Fire TV Stick with no issues. I use it to browse on my PC. I had 2 kids with iPads streaming videos on PBS Kids while I watched something on Netflix all through this device, no problems. Maybe it will crap out tomorrow, who knows. But it's doing really well so far and I've had no issues with connectivity on either side. No need to power cycle. Update (October 14, 2016): So, this little guy still does the job, most of the time. I do have to unplug it and plug it back in occasionally. Not terribly often, but often enough that I find it irritating, maybe once every couple weeks. Also, the signal strength on it isn't consistent day to day. Somedays it's green light all the time, no problems. Next day, it's orange or red. When it is orange or red, if I unplug it and plug it back in, it comes back green. Not sure if I blame my router (ASUS RT-N66U) or this extender. Just not sure what to think of this now. All in all, I still think it's a pretty good solution for how often I need to connect to it, which is once or twice a week. If I depended on this device daily, I might be singing a different tune though.

After using this product, there is an improvement of Wifi signal strength. But internet is still slow. I supposed that could be due to my network issues.
