Needed a switch for my patio that could handle being exposed to the elements and didnโ€™t need an electric socket near by. This fits the bill perfectly and since Iโ€™m already heavily invested in the Omada ecosystem, it fits in perfectly. My only wish is that they would just bump the price up a bit and chuck a POE++ injector in the box. I had to buy one separately since my switch doesnโ€™t support POE++ and all my spare injectors are POE+. Anywho, this thing appears to work perfectly. It was painless for my Omada controller to adopt it and update the firmware. This is a very nice little switch. For my uses this will power two POE cameras, a POE access point and will provide a wired data connection to an outdoor smart TV.

This switch has been a game-changer for my network setup. With its handy features and solid build, it helped me effortlessly tackle my connectivity challenges. One standout aspect of this switch is its four PoE+ ports, which provide power to compatible devices like IP cameras and wireless access points. The 65W power supply is more than sufficient, ensuring reliable and consistent performance. Plus, the plug-and-play functionality made the installation a breeze, saving me time and hassle. The sturdy metal construction and shielded ports are worth mentioning, as they enhance durability and protect against electromagnetic interference. The fanless design keeps things quiet, which is a major plus for those seeking a noise-free environment. In terms of performance, this switch excels. The QoS (Quality of Service) feature ensures smooth data flow, preventing bottlenecks and optimizing network efficiency. Additionally, the IGMP Snooping functionality has been invaluable in managing multicast traffic, allowing for seamless streaming and video conferencing. While the switch has a lot going for it, there are a few aspects that could be improved. One limitation is the number of ports. With only five ports available, it may not be suitable for larger network setups requiring more connections. Additionally, some users have reported occasional issues with firmware updates, but I personally haven't encountered any problems. Overall, the TP-Link TL-SG1005P V2 is a reliable and efficient PoE switch that simplifies network management. Its robust design, easy setup, and useful features make it a solid choice for small to medium-sized networks. Just keep in mind the limited number of ports if you have extensive connectivity needs.

Solid and reliable. Have run it for a few months, and never had to reboot it. What more could I want out of a commodity residential PoE switch?

I acquired this for my home to replace a Netgear PoE switch that died and stopped delivering power. One of the things I particularly liked was the separate uplink (non-PoE) ports, which left a full 16 ports available for downlink connections. I hooked everything up, turned it on, and everything began working, including some ethernet ports that had previously not been getting power. (The specs say it supports 802.3af/at, make sure your devices are compatible.) The fan in the device makes a little bit of noise, so this is ideally placed in your basement or equipment closet, not your office. It's also quite big, so make sure you have enough room for it (or rack-mount it). No problems observed in the first few days of operation, so I'm a happy customer for now. And as long as it works without trouble at least 3 years, I'll remain a happy customer. Note that there are some operational changes you can make with dip-switches: I left them all off, but advanced users may want to look at a manual before buying, to make sure the options meet the needs.

Plug and play. Used to power a POE device. Can also simultaneously use non PO3 devices.

I recently picked up the TP-Link SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE Switch to upgrade my home network, and itโ€™s been a fantastic addition. Hereโ€™s why this little device stands out: Setup and Design โ€ข Plug and Play: This switch requires zero configuration. Just plug in your devices, and youโ€™re good to go. Perfect for those who want hassle-free networking. โ€ข Compact Size: Measuring just 3.9 x 3.9 x 1 inches, it fits anywhere, making it ideal for small spaces. Performance โ€ข Gigabit Speed: All five ports support Gigabit Ethernet, ensuring fast and reliable connections for all my devices. โ€ข Power over Ethernet (PoE): Four of the five ports provide PoE, delivering up to 15.4W per port. I use it to power my IP cameras and a wireless access point without any issues. Power Management โ€ข 65W Power Budget: With a total PoE power budget of 65W, it easily handles my networkโ€™s power needs. Even with multiple devices connected, I havenโ€™t faced any power shortages. โ€ข Port Priority Function: If the power demand exceeds 65W, the switch prioritizes ports to ensure critical devices stay powered, which is a smart feature. Operation โ€ข Silent Running: Itโ€™s fanless, so thereโ€™s no noise, which is perfect for my home office. โ€ข Durable Build: Despite its small size, the build quality feels robust and reliable. Overall Experience This switch has greatly simplified my home network setup. Itโ€™s powerful enough for small office environments too. If you need an easy-to-use, reliable, and efficient PoE switch, the TP-Link SG1005P is a solid choice.

Worked right out of the box and was installed quickly. Good for a small setup with up to four POE wireless access points.

I had to buy this to connect up an access point, I didn't know I needed it but the price was good and the install is easy. Works really well with the unit I bought.

Sold a lot of TPLink POE Switches over the last few years under my previous employer. Under my previous employer, we have set them up on larger network where it was mostly populated by POE Phones and WAP's. Never seen one die after 5+ years of constant use. Excellent product to my experience. TPLink rackmountable hardware is extremely durable.

Quality product. Solved a problem with POE power to a group of security cameras.

Good quality, robust and simple - plug in all your network devices and connect to a router and away you go โ€“ no stuffing about, just works. I like the robust steel chassis/case and the large power supply. Often with these types of devices, the included power supply is absolute rubbish and fails within the first couple of years. However, judging by the size of this power supply, Iโ€™m expecting years of trouble-free service. I bought this switch to power my POE (Power Over Ethernet) security cameras and to allow connecting multiple cameras to the last available network port in my router. Thus far I have 2x security cameras connected (Amcrest IP8M-T2499EW and IP2M-841EB) with both cameras working well and more cameras on the way. Amcrest offer a similar switch for a similar price, however the speed is only 10/100Mbps. This switch is 10/100/1000Mbps, which should ensue longevity for future upgrades. Just a note - if youโ€™re going to all the trouble to run network cables through your roof and down walls, make sure to use Cat 6 or better for future upgrades. My cameras only have a 100Mbps network interface, however the next generation will likely have a 1000Mbps โ€“ so Iโ€™ll be right to re-use my current network infrastructure.
