I recieved my TP-Link the same day which was great. I put the router about 100'ft from the central router. I set it up which is fast, but have your passwords on hand and make sure you clearly read and follow the directions. Once I had it on and working I was suprised to see that it also boosted the signal at that distance, through walls ect. and I also used it to create a network on another system I use and it really worked good. Very good quality boxing and and parts!!

We're using this in our RV for over six months. We have all our TVs and phones set up to connect to the router and then connect the router to the campsite WiFi in hotspot mode. This way we only have one device we need to set up on arrival at a site. The router set up is very straightforward. The connection is very stable and we've had no issues. Where necessary I've also connected to my phone's mobile hotspot. Speed has been excellent. I also used the router to work on the road (again in the RV).

This is a capable "travel" router, with TP-Link's typically-strong router management software. I collect data from in the field, so I often power several portable MiniPCs with a large Power Station battery out in the middle of nowhere, controlled by a laptop in the car. Despite the lack of extendable antennas, I've never had connectivity issues (though the bit rate can drop substantially when going through the steel car, particularly in 5/6gHz bands). The one downside is the cable provided with the router is confusing. It's a USB A-to-USB C cable, but you can't use it to power the router from a laptop, miniPC or battery power bank via their USB A ports. USB-A ports deliver 5V, not the 12V needed by the router. Their power adapter has a USB-A port, of course, but it delivers 12V. So... you either need to power it with the power adapter and cable included, or with a separate USB-C-to-USB-C power cable plugged into a Power Delivery (PD)-compatible port on your power bank. Unfortunately most USB-C ports on laptops/PCs are not PD-compatible, so you can't power the router by the PC that's connecting to it.

I have used TP-Link's predecessor to this router for several years with great results. I'm happy to say that this new version is even better than the previous versions. As a Ham Radio Operator, I often travel with gear that requires an Ethernet Port and does not use wi-fi. This device provides an Ethernet LAN Port for just such needs. It's super easy to plug in a "dumb" network switch to the LAN Port to create even additional Ethernet Ports. The router's ability to use the new wi-fi protocols is icing on the cake. However, one of the best features is its ability to handle "captive ports" that are often used at hotels, resort, etc. Briefly described, a captive portal is what hotels and resorts use to control and verify that a user is entitled to use their wi-fi network. To do so, requires a "sign-in" which asks the user for specific information such as their name or room number, etc. So if you intend to share their network among several devices, it can become difficult or nearly impossible to interact with their sign-in process through some devices that don't know what to do with such login processes. This device's captive portal function is super simple and allows you to view and interact with such sign-in processes. Once done, the resort/hotel wi-fi is accessible through the TP-Link device as your own wi-fi network(s) [2.4 & 5GHz] OR via Ethernet. It works perfectly. No more leaving useful or needed gear at home because there is no practical way to connect it. This TP-Link device solves that problem and produces and excellent wi-fi resource for you. This is an absolutely wonderful device to have and can also be put to good use at home when you have devices that need Ethernet but the room they're in doesn't have it. This is a tremendous tool to have available as you travel or for home or business use.
