For some unknown reason, Roku did not include an ethernet port on their Smart Soundbar. I mean, why in the world would you want high-bandwidth, low latency connectivity for a high-definition streaming device, right?!? Sheesh. Anyway, they *do* include a USB-A port, and they do support a limited number of USB ethernet adapters, including this specific one. I plugged it in and it worked immediately! Great throughput, no wireless lag, and no saturation of my wifi network with streaming. Note that the USB-A port is the old, rectangular, only-plugs-in-one-way technology and is also has lower throughput than modern-day USB-C ports, so the throughput on this ethernet adapter is limited to a theoretical maximum of 100 megabits per second (mbps). In reality I get around 70-80 mbps, which is more than enough for very high definition content streaming. Highly recommended.

The reason I bought this, and the reason you are probably looking in the comments is to find out if it worked for anyone using a Roku Streambar (I can only speak for the Streambar. I don't know if it works with the Streambar Pro or the Streambar SE). I can say that it did work with the Roku Streambar. Worked perfectly. Well done. A+

This review is for a specific use: Connecting a laptop to a Server's ILO so there's technical jargon that may not mean much if you're just using this to adapter to connect your computer to a network. I use it to plug into the ILO USB jack in the front of HP ProLiant ML350 Gen10 servers. You don't need Gigabit speed for this so 10/100 is fine. You can connect directly to ILO5 interface without having to plug the regular ILO network port (in the back of the server) into the LAN and do any other setup on the server. 1 - Plug the USB end into the ILO USB port in the FRONT of the Server 2 - Plug a network patch cable between this adapter and your laptop's ethernet network port 3 - Set your laptop with a static IP address of 169.254.1.3 / 255.255.255.0 / 169.254.1.1 4 - Open up Chrome and go to 169.254.1.2 and you're immediately connected to the server's ILO5 web interface. Super easy, works well, built solidly (enough for this use) and inexpensive.

Works well, but sometimes it will just quit working and need to disable/enable the device to make it work again. Typically every couple weeks. MacOS - M1 Series.

I was looking to purchase a USB>Ethernet adapter for my Series2 Tivo. Since the Tivos are known to be a little picky about the adapter used, I did a lot of research to find out what was out there. This adapter kept popping up, so even though it's not listed on Tivo's website ([...] I decided it was worth a shot. It had gotten great reviews pretty much everywhere. The adapter (TU2-ET100) arrived yesterday. The USPS shipping was a bit slow, having actually PASSED my house in route to another hub before coming to me. But the packing was good, and it was in a nice box with a CD and fairly basic instruction book. I did not need either. The adapter itself is pretty light weight, but not fragile. It's a little boxy, but that actually is a good thing as I want it to sit flat. Within a second of plugging this in to my Tivo, it had obtained an IP address from my router and was churning away with full-duplex speed! The world of networked Tivo has opened lots of cool doors, thanks to this simple little adapter! According to the box, this adapter WILL work with the Nintendo Wii, as well. Note to those looking... BE CAREFUL not to mistake this with the TRENDnet USB to 10/100Mbps Adapter (TU-ET100C) adapter, which sells for a similar price (slightly cheaper) and looks more "modern", but only operates on the USB 1.1 specification. Also note... don't waste your time going to Best Buy. They don't sell these, and the guy who offered to help me find it told me matter-of-factly that "there is no such thing as a USB>Ethernet adapter." Sure thing, buddy.

The chipset included is the Realtek 8152B not the preferred 8152BG (updated version). See the attached pic. Slow read speeds, less than a GbE connection. Write speeds inconsistent. Another reviewer claimed it was 8152BG, which was not the case. Purchased 2 adapters both with 8152BG chip from other manufacturers, both adapters running at the correct speeds with consistent performance.

The photo showing this adapter is of an older version. The functional specs are the same. The new version is just as solidly constructed, and the USB cord is permanently attached now, which I consider a better design compared to the older version. The cord can't get separated from the adapter and lost - or accidentally pulled out of the adapter. The RJ-45 ethernet port is solid and seating/locking of an ethernet cable in it is positive - it's not going to fall out unless the plug on your ethernet cable is broken (and that's your own cable problem, not the adapter's port). Plugged it into the USB ports on a couple different computers. Both WinXP SP2 (32-bit) and WinXP /x64 SP2 (64-bit - aka 2003 Server /x64) recognized and loaded the drivers for it without any hassle or having to install drivers. Older versions of Windows (e.g. Win98 and possibly WinME) would require driver installation for it - these kinds of things didn't exist (nor did their chipsets) when those O/S's were created. Gave it 5 stars because this is about as easy as it gets - true Plug 'n Play in WinXP - and mechanically well constructed. You do have to configure your new ethernet port, but you'd have to do that regardless of what kind of network adapter you installed.

Works great! Adapter has a a small ROM containing the drivers built in. Makes it very easy to install and no hunting for a driver. Works so well, I bought another for the Wife's PC.

Top!
