As a star wars fan just getting back into tomagotchis after 25 years of lapsing... I love this

He is my new son. And when the Jawas took him away I had to do it all again. My heart has been torn from my chest. I yearn for my R2 unit to return, but the new one will never be the same :,,,( I thoroughly enjoy this toy, the price is a tad steep when I consider the technology it must actually take to work, but I love the beeping sounds it makes, sounds like a gentle ringtone, and the minigames are kind of fun once you learn them. The Key Unlock minigame was the hardest I played and took about a dozen tries to finally get 5 in a row. Love this.

The first time I walked into my boyfriend's office I realized I had a problem. Knowing he was a Star Wars fan, I thought he'd be easy to shop for. But alas, the day I witnessed his own personal Star Wars Museum, I knew he already had everything. Until I found this little guy. A trinket that he didn't know existed. And it scratches the nostalgia itch for him as well. The smile on his face to get a Star Wars gift that he didn't already have was the best feeling!

I loved these when I was a kid so I thought It would be really fun to get one for my kids and they love Star Wars. Unfortunately the battery didn’t last too long. I probably could’ve replaced it, but they didn’t play with it enough to make it worth the hassle.

For the people that might be reading reviews about the tiny size, or if you should spend $20 on this thing, I got to clear this up the informative way!! I'm a virtual pets nerd, so read on! Also the picture is boring I took, but you can see it from an angle. R2 is currently sleeping as I write this review. Ok here we go! I got mine recently and opened it up today. Unfortunately there seems to be a little scratch on the screen which I guess I'll return this and get another one. So far, it's been day one, and as a fan of virtual pets, I think any Star wars dork, and person that just likes virtual pets would absolutely love this because they already know it is a tamagotchi nano version. They already know what they're getting into. Tamagotchi nano series has smaller buttons, lower frequency of care needed, an egg-shaped design, and it's just smaller in general. It seems that when tamagotchi merges with another big company they tend to do it with the nano devices. The regular tamagotchi is what people are used to. But when you look into it, the nano series is also its own thing entirely. Nintendo collaborated with Pikachu and Eevee, obviously Star wars, Pac-Man, and I'm sure there's like some Japanese one that I forgot. I hope it clears up any frustration from other reviewers that say this thing is too small. Tamagotchi just has a much more diverse ecosystem that you might have never known of. If you want to check it out, there's at least the tamagotchi mini, the tamagotchi nano, the regular tamagotchi, that most retro people will know. The nano series has a special place in most people's hearts that love virtual pets. Which if you are a dork like me, and you don't have the Pac-Man one, I HIGHLY recommend it. It was really fun! So far this R2 is worth $20 to me. The sounds are a big sell to me. The bleeps and bloops make it adorable. You just have to understand that there is a whole different series of various models of tamagotchi. If you think the nano is small, check out the mini series. Even smaller. And I love the mini. It's very simple. Think Ages 4-7? The nano is the in between series. 7-12. The regular tamagotchi is 13 and up to understand them. The newer ones with color screens and cameras are intense to say the least with what you can do. If you have a busy life as an adult and can't take care of the demands of a regular tamagotchi, have a kid who's like 6 and up, and / or obviously love the Star wars series, it will add a smile to your day, and that's what matters most to me. I hope that helps clear up confusion on size, expectation, and general feel for the software experience. 👍🏻

Got this for my boyfriend and he absolutely loves it. The visitors are fun on it and the sounds and games are adorable. Easy to use and it's responsive as well.

I was recently feeling nostalgic for my old '90s Tamagotchi, and when I went looking online for one, I discovered new Tamas exist and promptly ordered a few (in addition to replacing my old one with another original of the same color for nostalgia's sake). I got R2 a few days ago and took good care of R2 for his life cycle (3 days), and I was pretty happy with him, but I am really annoyed that it just reset itself at the end. It was only a few minutes after the last time I tended to R2, and I was at my desk with my headphones on while working. As soon as I realized he was beeping, I looked at him and saw the screen fading from black, and a new/unevolved R2 appeared on my screen. So my R2 ended and reset without me even getting a chance to see the ending screen or getting a choice about whether I was ready to begin again. (At least I assume that is what happened since it was about time for his life cycle to end.) I wanted to take a break between life cycles. I'm not sure if this was a fluke/a glitch or if this is really how these new Tamas are designed to end, but I am annoyed that I was deprived of seeing an ending and that I had no way to just leave it alone for a while on an ending screen to take a break before resetting him. (I'm going to see if it works to take a break by leaving him in clock-set mode.) Maybe it's possible he got kidnapped and carried away by Jawas or something, but again, it should have some sort of ending screen remain on the screen until I reset it. I got zero indication of what had happened. Now for my review other than the annoying ending (or lack thereof). R2 and his little beeps are quite cute. The mini-games are pretty fun, especially playing chess with Chewie. You'll unlock additional games a couple of times when he evolves throughout his life cycle. R2 doesn't seem to require much care compared to some other virtual pets. There's no meter to check on how charged he is or how happy he is, so it's unclear how often you should play with him. I played with him often to be safe. He often said no to me charging him, so he doesn't need charging particularly often. It does indicate visually when he needs to be cleaned. I sort of wish there was a little more to it, but he's still a fun little Tama and enjoyable for Star Wars fans. It's fun to see the various Star Wars characters and scenes that pop up at different times of the day. It's also nice that you can alternate between playing a few games with him instead of only getting one game like with classic Tamas. Lots of people comment about the size. It should be obvious before purchasing that this isn't a classic-style Tamagotchi. This is a nano (my first nano). Do a little reading, folks! Takes a few minutes to research Tamagotchi types. I do prefer the classic size and shape, but I don't mind this one. It's pretty cute. It's not quite as tall or wide as original Tamas, but it is rounder/thicker. I'm including a photo for size comparison. Two stars subtracted mainly due to the ending issue, plus I wish there was some sort of status meter to see what he needs and to have an idea of how often you should play games with him. Editing to add later: can confirm after running him multiple times that he simply resets himself every time his life cycle ends. No ending screen, nothing.

My son is super excited about his new gadget. Especially he is also a Star Wars fan. This item will surely stay over years in his Star Wars collection.
