The TP-Link Tapo C110 offers a compelling entry point into home security with its notably low price point, making it an accessible option for budget-conscious consumers. Setting it up, particularly for those looking to integrate it into an existing system via RTSP, is surprisingly straightforward, which is a significant plus for users wanting more flexibility than the standard app provides. However, while marketed as a 2K camera, the typical recording resolution of 2304x1296 falls short of the standard 2560x1440 resolution often associated with 2K, and the overall picture quality, while adequate for basic monitoring, isn't the sharpest or most detailed available on the market. Despite this resolution discrepancy and middling image fidelity, the ease of RTSP setup and the attractive price make it a viable choice for simple surveillance needs where high-end video quality isn't the absolute top priority.

These are fantastic cameras and the 2K puts out an extremely clear image compared to 1080p during the day. And the night vision is very good. You could make out all the details in your house in the middle of the night with no lights like people and faces. And the app is extremely simple to install. It gives you other options like water leak detection and even lighting. It is a complete package with even more cameras and options still available. Like an alarm and contacts for doors and windows. And you don't have to use their cloud if you don't want to.

Amazing quality. Easy setup. So many features for the price. The night mode quality is impressive for the price. Definitely getting more for your buck. Wish it was wireless but besides that it’s worth it! I like the alarm on the 1080p quality one better than this alarm tho. I loved the camera so much I got the higher resolution. The two way talks works amazing for what it cost. If you want instant perfectly smooth everything buy a $60+ camera. For this price it’s amazing.

Bought these for some quick internal cameras to link to my NVR via ONVIF. Setup was simple enough and clarity is decent. Only grip is that without setting up the auto reboot the time seems to drift.

I'll give it 5 stars because it deserves more than 4. Easy set up, video quality is excellent, excellent for the price. Waaaaay better than Blink. The cons are propriety power cord, not USB C like more expensive Tapo cams. The cord is long too. Also if you are going to force a propriety power cord and the plug in is on the bottom of the camera body, why not make it a right angle plug? Very satisfied with every Tapo cam I've purchased so far. App and UI is also head and shoulders above Blink and Wyze.

I now have 8 of these cameras for home security use, for 16 dollars you can't beat the price. I purchased these knowing the risks of ordering inexpensive cameras manufactured in China and the serious security risks that come along with some of them. These are labeled as being manufactured in Vietnam which is not currently on the list of banned IT products by the DoD. I have not had the time to Wireshark then to verify that no personal information is being sent to any unknown servers. I chose these because they supposedly support both ONVIF and RTSP streams over a local network. Pros: - These cameras DO support the ONVIF protocol and also RTSP streaming, and it works very well. This allows you to integrate them with other 3rd party software, NVRs, and custom applications. They can also be streamed using VLC media player. - The image quality is great for such an inexpensive camera. They can be set up on a flat table surface or ceiling mount. - They are lightweight and cheaply put together, however sturdy and can take a bit of a beating without breaking. - The TAPO android app is far superior to other apps I have used. It provides lots of features and initial setup was relatively simple. - Once the cameras are set up on the TAPO app, they will continue to work when connected to an air-gapped (no internet access) LAN. The TAPO app will also work without an internet connection, so these can be placed on a VLAN without internet access. Cons: - Although ONVIF and RTSP are supported, you DO need to install the TAPO app to set the cameras up initially. As mentioned, they will work on an air-gapped network after initial setup. - The base shaft of the cameras are not removable (only the base itself), so if you are building custom stands or mounts, this will have to be broken off. - Ceiling mounting these can be slightly painstaking, as the screws that are required to be removed to mount the base are the same screws that provide tension to the ball-in-groove adjustment. - Unlike most small cameras available, these are powered by a 9VDC plug-in transformer and not a standard USB-C or Micro-USB phone charger. The charger IS included, but ceiling mounting these can be an issue if no local receptacle is available to plug into.
