This is a very-easy-to-set-up and very-easy-to-use home security camera. I got this camera to help my wife and I keep an eye on her elderly and sickly mother, who lives with us. We can’t be with her 24/7, and since she spends most of her waking hours in our den (where the large-screen TV is), watching her in case she falls is very convenient with this camera. The picture is great, in daytime or at night, and the fact that it has 2-way audio is very handy. We also very much appreciate how it has a built-in smoke and gas alarm, especially since our den is right next to our kitchen. Before this camera, we had never heard of these features being part of a security camera. Inside the box there is an easy-to-read Quick Start Guide that helps you get the camera up and running with the help of an easily downloadable app. We are very grateful for this security camera, and only wish we had gotten it a lot sooner. It’s made quite well, and so far has functioned flawlessly. Five stars all the way!

For the price point, it's fantastic. I use it as a door camera as I didn't want to dish out the dough for a ring camera. However it isn't really 1080P, more like 720p if the wind is blowing right. As it's inside facing out, it has a few issues. You can't use the IR mode on it as the lights blind the camera. And unfortunately my unit faces east, so the sun blinds it for a short period of time. When the sun is past the roof, the color quality is decent. Again, probably more like a 720p quality feed though, still good though to be honest. However at night with the "day mode" on, it struggles a bit with the parking lot lights. Somehow lights that are 20-60ft away severely starburst. But knowing it was meant to be an indoor facing camera, I am willing to overlook this. The vehicle / people sensing is a bit iffy. Pick one or the other to be at 6 and leave the other lower. It tracks stuff close to the door fine but at 20ft it confuses cars with people a lot and vise versa. Setup was incredibly easy. I opted to use 2 sided tape to mount it instead of screws. Took all of 5 seconds. Connection to my wifi was also incredibly easy. You do have to reset the camera if you want to switch to a different network though. The app apparently allows you to view 36 cameras if you were so inclined to secure your place like Fort Knox or make your neighbour's think you're... Cautious Tldr, for the price point it's great. The cable length is adequate. Feed quality is eh. Sensors work but not well for specifically cars or people. Bright light bad. Don't use IR if it's mounted facing glass.

I bought one of these to replace a more panoramic double lens Reolink camera on my Blue Iris-managed security system in hopes it would not drop connections the way the Reolink cams (I have three of them of various models) seem to. So far, it has been working great. Dropouts are rare but the camera is little less wide angle. Full disclosure - I'm using a TP-Link mesh system and there could be some compatibility benefits beneath the hood that I'm oblivious to since Tapo and TP-Link are from the same source. There are some concerns about TP-Link being a Chinese company, but you'll have to resolve that issue in your own mind. This cam was easy to set up with the Tapo app initially and took only a bit of tinkering with video parameters in my Blue Iris NVR software to make it work. There are subreddits and TP-Link postings to help with this. For your reference, my setup uses software running on Windows, not the separate hardware NVR. You may find the Tapo app sufficient but I have a mix of camera brands and some of them have much worse apps than Tapo, so a unified management system works best for me. (I'm looking at you Amcrest, Foscam and Reolink.) If you go all Tapo, you may not need anything else, and a cloud storage subscription is an option they offer. The C120 has excellent night views and works best for me with the IR disabled to avoid rain and fog issues and because there is already some help from street lighting. The night color is beautiful and clear. The camera's own motion detection seems to work well enough (continuing to evaluate and will post updates if there are findings) although I rely on Blue Iris to manage motion detection events and video clip storage. I'm also working with an indoor Tapo C100 with similar experience so far, although this may be the topic of a separate review. I strongly recommend using optional microSD cards in these cameras, even if you use Blue Iris for your primary motion detection and video clip cataloging. It costs very little extra for, say, 64GB cards and they backstop your main system.

Great for watching our elderly dogs as they've become more restless overnight during these cold winter months. Clear picture, can adjust motion sensitivity so you won't get notified every time they blink or raise their head, and it very clearly picks up audio from the room as well. The only drawback I've been consistently frustrated with is the "talk" feature. Often if I use that button to soothe the dogs or tell them to lay back down, only the last half second will transmit, confusing the dogs and making them more agitated instead of soothed. I've also experimented with this by having my partner speak to me from the living room through the talk feature, and it's just as spotty/mangled in what actually comes out. Besides that, it's a great camera and has given me SO much peace of mind overnight when I'm upstairs and wonder what my senior dogs are doing downstairs. Well worth the price! Edit to add: Discovered another. "downside" to this camera. We learned how to share the device across both of our phones to monitor the dogs better. My partner is now VERY aware of how many bad jokes I tell the dogs. But that would be true of any camera or home surveillance device, so it's not really a true downside. PS: What do you call a dog that does magic tricks? A labracadabrador. You're welcome.

Only issue some times while reviewing the recording in app you find few seconds of interrupted like cutter off recording ! Not much of deal for me as I use it internally so I know what it missed !

I’m really happy with this Camera. For the price, it’s a fantastic deal and offers everything I need for basic home security. What I Like: - No Subscription Required: Unlike many other cameras, this one doesn’t push you into paying for a subscription. You can store all your footage locally on a memory card, which is a huge plus. - User-Friendly App: The Tapo app is intuitive and packed with features. It’s easy to set up and control the camera, and I love that I can check the live feed or recorded footage directly from my phone. - Good Quality Video: The 1080p resolution is clear enough to capture all the details I need. - Affordable: It’s budget-friendly but doesn’t skimp on functionality. Minor Considerations: - It only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, which wasn’t an issue for me, but it’s something to be aware of when setting it up. Overall, this camera delivers excellent value for the price. It’s reliable, functional, and doesn’t lock you into extra costs. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a simple and affordable security camera!
