I started reading Lucinda Berry books about a month ago and have now been through 6. Every single book is gripping and pulls you in to the extent that you lose days of your own life from being so engrossed into each story. This book has some trigger areas as many of hers do, but if you can get past those, they will keep you reading and wanting more.

Dani, Kendra, and Lindsey have been friends since elementary school. They have faced many difficult things together as they grew up,but nothing like this! This is unimaginable! Their sons, who are also very close, have had a terrible accident. Or was it an accident? One boy is dead, one is in a coma, and another is traumatized so badly that he can’t even speak. What really happened the night of the accident? One thing is for certain: things are not as they seem! This is a wonderful book, a real page-turner! The characters are all quite authentic, and they take the reader through their tumultuous emotions as each faces the unimaginable. The plot contains many surprises, the kind that makes the reader say to herself, “I should have seen that coming!” This is a fun read!

This is one of the best books I've ever read. From the very first (and I kid you not) page it grabs you like a pitbull that won't let you go. You had to keep turning to find out to what was going to happen next to Kendra, Lindsay, and Dani. And the way she laid out the characters was nothing short of genius. I totally enjoyed this book and wondered what was going to happen to poor Jacob and Caleb and their parents. I have never cried over a book like people say they have before, but by the end of this book I was balling in the kitchen all by myself. Thought I was finished and then there was a prologue. Surprise! But I can tell you no more. Don't want to spoil it. Absolutely loved it. All I can say is wow!

The Best of Friends” by Lucinda Berry is an engaging and entertaining read. The story revolves around three best friends Linsey, Dani, and Kendra and their teenage sons, Sawyer, Jacob, and Caleb. One day, while the boys are hanging out, a tragic incident occurs, leading to the death of one of them. As the parents and police work to uncover what really happened, long-buried secrets come to light, revealing their friendships might fragile and untrustworthy after all. The story was interesting, but I had trouble keeping track of the characters, especially which son belonged to which parent. This is the second book I’ve read by Lucinda Berry, and I think she has a habit of making it a bit tricky to follow. Overall, it was a good story, but the ending wasn’t satisfying, which seems to be another trend with this author. I’m giving it 3 stars, unless there’s a second book to continue the story.

I liked this book! Flips between a few different friends, sharing each of their perspectives throughout the story. Some surprises along the way

Wow, this is my first Lucinda Berry book. Her writing style is similar to Jodi Picoult, in that she reaches into the depths of each character to weave a story that touches the soul. Her insight into human nature and behavior is impressive. I had a hard time following the book at times because she jumps around and bounces back and forth in and among her characters, but at the end it all comes together. A very touching read.

I started reading this book this morning when it was recommended to me on a list of good reads, and the sample drew me in enough to buy it. The book itself drew me in enough that I finished it in a day. I haven't read anything that captivating in a while, so I'm impressed! I expected things to be harder to follow or confusing based on the other reviews, but I simply never felt that way. You basically just have to learn the three families involved in the story, which isn't that difficult. By the end of chapter 5 I had them all down. I started a notepad file and had been prepared to take notes to keep it all straight but it really wasn't necessary. The ending comes all at once and feels a bit rushed but I think the main story was concluded nicely if simply, and it wasn't necessary to wrap up every single thread. In fact, it contributes to the feeling the author gives throughout the book that this is only a brief window into the multi-decade friendship of Dani, Lindsey, and Kendra; just as their lives were happening all intertwined for decades before this, their lives will be happening for decades after this as well. All in all, a great distraction and I would certainly recommend it.

This book really kept my attention. Once I got down what kids belonged to which parents and who the couples were, I found myself pretty invested in finding out what happened. The ultimate answer was less climatic than I had hoped but it was still an interesting storyline. The final twist at the end was surprising. One annoyance was that (unless I missed it) there is reference to the 4 girlfriends doing something regrettable on the night of junior prom and then never speaking of it again. It’s only mentioned near the end of the book and then never brought up again. I was expecting that plot point to be revealed at some point but, to my knowledge, it never was. Other than that, a solid 4 star read.

Muito bom! Li em 3 dias. Fiquei tentando adivinhar o que tinha acontecido. Depois de ‘A paciente silenciosa’ queria algo na mesma pegada. Amizade descrita de uma maneira real, com fases, erros e acertos.Reviewed in Brazil on August 2, 2023

Gostei da maneira que a amizade foi tratada. De maneira real, com erros e acertos as vezes uma certa inveja. Li em 3 dias.

Loved every moment of the story . The smooth writing by the author just makes the plot flow that easily. It's most definitely a must - read if you are one of those peope who just never get enough of dark mysteries and thrillers

The authors background gives her a unique insight into childhood trauma which made this book both a super uncomfortable read but also unputdownable. Very intense. I'm glad I read it but I wouldn't be able to read it again.

Loved this book with its phenomenal emotional ups and downs . The ending kind of surprising, but good. I enjoyed it insofar as a gut-wrenching tale can be so.
