This is a great educational book on teaching/learning DBT skills. I love the ability to make copies easily with serial bound and added section on addictive patterns as so many folks who struggle emotionally often compensate with some kind repetitive behavior that becomes unhealthy or unwanted at some point. This book has taught me how to explain DBT concepts and skills to others and has helped me learn how to use the skills in my everyday life too.

I’ve used this manual several times with clients and it’s definitely worth the money. Due to it being spiral bound, it’s easy to print copies for clients.

I learned DBT using the original Linehan tools, which included a lot of clunky acronyms and awkward language. While the skills were incredibly useful, the approach felt incomplete and difficult to use in a self-help context. This DBT Skills approach is so much more user-friendly, comprehensible, and complete. The inclusion of DBT for Addiction, and application to social media, expands its usefulness exponentially since so many substance abuse treatment programs use DBT. I highly recommend it to both clinicians and regular civilians as a powerful, trauma-informed way to cope with big emotions.

DBT is a hard concept to apply.

I bought this book after attending a training with the author. I am not sure if its because I almost can hear his voice when I read it or just because I really like his way of explaining things but this book was so good!! I bought it to use with clients but I ended up using it for myself. It has been life changing. I hope the author gets to read the reviews in amazon :)

The practice of DBT has changed my life. 70% improvement of symptoms of anxiety and depression. Better than any medication. It has to be practiced or it won't work. I highly recommend this book as well as taking a class with a qualified therapist who teaches it.

Another great investment for therapists to use in both foundational and advanced DBT programs. I purchased the first addition and found it to be difficult to make copies of the "applications". This second edition is worth the investment. I love the new chain analysis and solution analysis as this will allow individuals to discuss more about problem behavior(s). The sticky judgment worksheet is very useful during individual sessions. Also, further exploration of dialectics could be used with the second edition of Marsha Linehan's DBT manual. You are able to download the worksheets which is a big relief. I plan to take his 8 week online course to become DBTC. Currently, I am using this manual at my job site with the Advanced DBT patients.

I've worked extensively with Marsha Linehan's original DBT skills workbook, but often found the presentation somewhat scattered, terse, and `black box-ish', which interfered with my ability to absorb and utilize the skills. Lane Pederson integrates the material into something that feels unified and interactive, providing a welcome fresh perspective. I find that his presentation also fosters a deeper level of insight, with some bang-on analogies that help the user not only `get' the skill immediately, but also see it in a broader life context. While Linehan's original book is a richer source of worksheets, I prefer Pederson's presentation. I highly recommend this book as an invaluable addition to any DBT enthusiast's library.

As a therapist, I took Lane's course on DBT. I bought this book after, and it does not leave my side. Great reference as well as worksheets and information to give to clients.
