Believe it or not I buy this Bible every year as a gift to myself! I get the New Living Translation because it makes for easy reading--and because I like to highlight verses/passages and make notes, I need a fresh copy each Christmas. It's interesting to look back and see what caught my eye, from year to year--as my faith matures, I learn more, retain more. The Bible is the greatest adventure, and it never gets old! I highly recommend this one. (And if someone tells you it's wrong to write in your Bible--they probably attend the wrong church!)

You can read the bible in a year with one. I love it read it everyday. Short 10 to 15 mins a day . I have tried many times but couldn't get through it this makes so easy, understandable and a joy to read.

My wife and I have read this Bible three years, over and over. Strangely, the words have come to life as the Daily Word parallels current events often. Recommend!

This was a great purchase. My husband and I both used this to read the bible in a year, and then when the new year started, I began it again.

I am so impressed with this version of the Bible that I have bought numerous copies to share with people so we can all be on the “same page” at any time! Plus it’s helped me immensely in comprehension of the Bible after reading it 3 years in a row (twice out loud). I actually get excited about knowing what is coming up next and finding reoccurring themes! Plus I find it helpful to apply to my life now that I am consistently reading it.

Even though my preferred version is NASB Updated for studies and sermons, my simple daily devotional reading is from NLT The One Year Bible. And I must say, it is a delight to my soul. 1. NLT The One Year Bible is arranged so that you could either finish the whole Bible in 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year span. This gives a flexibility to the reader. To finish the Bible in one year, it only takes 15 mins. a day. Because it has arranged the daily reading portion for you, you do not have to worry about it. 2. Because the NLT is so much easier to read than other versions of the Bible, it is enjoyable and you can soak in the content of the Bible more readily. NOTE: NLT is not the most literal Bible, therefore you might need to supplement with more literal translation of the Bible (NASB, ESV, or KJV). This has been the practice for me, and it works well. 3. Fonts are crisp, sharp and large enough to read the Bible comfortably without straining your eyes. 4. Even though it is a softcover and the pages are glued to the spine, it is well glued and sturdy. I do recommend that you reinforce the cover with ,to reinforce the sturdiness. 5. Pages are thin, but they are opaque enough and strong. 6. This particular edition is from 2004 (NLT 2nd edition), it has been reported that 2nd edition has corrected some of the inaccuracies of the 1st edition (1996). The 3rd edition (2007) has been published with minor updates, but as of now, NO 3rd edition of NLT One Year Bible has been published. 7. One thing I do miss from the 1st edition of is the place of footnotes. In the 1st edition, the footnotes are placed at the bottom of each page, so you can quickly refer to them, but in the 2nd edition (OYB), the footnotes are placed at the end of each day's section, so you have to flip a page or two to get there. A minor annoyance. Overall, I enjoy reading NLT One Year Bible. It has been for many years. Highly recommended!

I love this version NLT of the One-Year-Bible because it is absolutely accurate and easy to understand along with having clear notes and additions showing the etymology of the texts. I use it in my personal studies and, as an Elder, provide and recommend it to others to help them.

This NLT Translation is clear and simple to read. I like how each day you can read a portion of the Old Testament a smaller portion of the New Testament a Psalm and a verse or two of Proverbs, because the Bible is written by God through his people 40 different men, over a period of 1500 years, it always amazes me how the different portions actually tie in together and compliment each other. You don’t get bogged down with geneologies and Old Testament laws and ordinances because you also read about Jesus on the same day. Just a good way to start your day..
