As an adult I enjoyed reading this to my 1 year old niece. I think she was waaaay too young to appreciate the words or the graphics. I'll try again in a few years.

My little girl and I read this poem at Solstice. So well done.

Illustrations by Carson Ellis add depth to this beautiful poem, which has been at the center of many a performance of the winter Revels, a show that honors the winter solstice, with participants of many ages and ethnicities.

I gave this book to my sis for her birthday which is on the shortest day of the year. She loved it very much and will be sharing it with her book club next year.

we focus on the solstice in our holiday rituals and celebration and this is such a sweet solstice book, the best one I have found. it is a lovely poem for the grown up to read too--it reads well and we all get calm and contemplative when we read it. highly recommend

Although ranging in ages from 4 to 11 years, my grandkids all liked this book being read to them. The pictures go well with the poem, and there is an extra section at the back with more explanation about the winter Solstice and the many ways people have celebrated it over time.

Hermosas ilustraciones y casi no hay libros de este tipo para niños. Nos encantó a toda la familia, ya que celebramos el equinoccio de invierno y la navidad de una manera diferente

I bought the book to read and teach my kids about pagan traditions. This book is a poem. Not understood by kids (2, 4, 6, 7, 10 years old) there is a page at the end with a few paragraphs describing solstices and equinox’s but even this requires a lot of explaining and the kids still don’t really grasp what the book is about.
