Do not wait to read or listen to Amy's beautifully written, touching story of innocence and love of family and friends while showing the reader bravery, vulnerability, and perseverance. This memoir will touch you, inspire you, break your heart, and give you hope simultaneously. The Tell was emotional; it brought me to tears one minute and made me smile the next. This book is a gift to anyone struggling with something deep within their soul. Hearing the audiobook in her voice was especially powerful; hearing her truth is beyond measure. Amy, thank you for sharing your story with the world.

Amy Griffin’s The Tell is more than just a memoir—it’s a testament to resilience, a raw and unflinching account of survival, and ultimately, a story of freedom. From the very first page, Griffin’s honesty and vulnerability pull you in, making you feel as if you are walking alongside her through the pain, the secrets, and the long road to healing.
This book is not an easy read, but it is an important one. Griffin writes with a rare kind of courage—she lays bare the wounds of her past, exposing the weight of abuse and the burden of silence. But in doing so, she also reveals the power of truth, the beauty of release, and the strength found in letting go. Her journey is heartbreaking yet hopeful, painful yet empowering.
What makes The Tell so powerful is not just Griffin’s story, but the way she tells it—with such grace, wisdom, and an unwavering belief in the possibility of healing. Her words stay with you long after the final page, reminding us all that even in our darkest moments, there is light to be found.
If you have ever struggled with the weight of secrets, if you have ever needed a reminder that freedom is possible, or if you simply want to witness the incredible resilience of the human spirit, this book is for you. Amy Griffin’s story will break your heart and then put it back together again. I cannot recommend it enough.

This book was well-written and such a page turner. I really wish her story had been corroborated by other people who had seen something or who had also been abused by the same person. Unfortunately, the only proof she had to back up her claims (outside of her own reflections) was an anonymous postcard. I don’t believe an abuser of this magnitude only abuses once, so if no one else comes forward after the release of this book, it will remind me of another of Oprah’s bookclub picks, James Frey’s “A Million Little Pieces” which was also well-written book with important themes - that turned out to be false. There won’t be any way to disprove Ms. Griffin’s story, but a cursory Google search shows that MDMA can bring out false memories. I was excited about this book until the end when I realized I would just have to trust the storyteller that it was true reality- something I can’t do. I hope further proof will come out.

This story was so honest in how girls are taught to be nice and perfect…and quiet. I read it thinking of the trauma of abuse, shame and blame and lost childhoods exist in the world, especially for girls. I learned so much reading it, about suppressed memories and trusting your true inner self and voice. I have lived my long life believing I was abused by a relative, and cannot “remember’. Thank you

This book is life-changing. Amy Griffin’s The Tell is a powerful testament to vulnerability and resilience. By bravely sharing her story, Griffin reminds us there’s far more to every life than we realize—and she challenges us to approach ourselves and others with greater compassion. I finished it in one sitting on a flight and couldn’t put it down.
Her writing is heartfelt and deeply engaging, making this book a genuine page-turner. I believe this book will be a catalyst for countless women on their healing journeys, showing that even in life’s darkest moments, hope and perseverance can shine through. Every woman can relate to Amy's struggle in unraveling a secret so dark that even she couldn’t face it—until she finally did, transforming her life forever.
