I’ve had the tractive XL for about 9months now and I love it. My Labrador retriever wears it 24/7 and it’s like it wasn’t there. The GPS works well, I’ve had to track him once after my dog started chasing a rabbit and the live feature was very precise and responsive. It alerts you when your dog leaves the “home” perimeter that you can set (either a circle or multiple points) as a virtual fence. I have tracked my dog from across the globe and even took him abroad and it worked flawlessly. The battery life is excellent, I decided to go for the XL for that reason and it was WORTH IT. I charge this thing maybe once a month and that’s it. The battery saving feature when connected to wifi works great. As for the health tracking, I love it , you get to see how many active minutes your dog gets everyday and you can set goals and compete worldwide with all the other tractive users. It also tracks sleeps and rest and it gives you a good idea of how well your dog is doing. It’s like wearing a Garmin or Apple Watch but for your dog. As far as solidity, it’s a solid little box, my dog has chewed on it and it held up just fine. A little tip: if your dog is super active like mine and loves to run and roll around I would put a zip tie around the collar and the GPS just to make sure it doesn’t come off as the little rubber holder tends to fall off from time to time. But if you have a calm dog that shouldn’t be an issue. Over all I love this product and would definitely recommend anyone with a dog to get one.

Way better than just a AirTag because you don’t have to be in a certain distance for it to work and it has live tracking. I trained my GSP to come back to me if he gets too far by turning on the sound in the app. It’s very durable. No issues Life saver, great app, I use it every single day. You can set zones for your pet to stay within

We absolutely love tractive. It's a must have along with a chip and tags. A chip is good however if you're Dog or cat decides to wander off and somebody decides to take your furry friend in then you're at the mercy of somebody doing their due diligence but with tractive you can chase them down right away and get them as soon as possible and keep them away from danger!!! There are other benefits to having it as well such as the health portion and the activity monitoring. The price is really inexpensive compared to the peace of mind you get! My wife would be devastated if something would ever happene to Buddy if he got away and he does like to take off. (He's just a puppy).. I also have it set up so other family members can also monitor his whereabouts if needed. The dog XL unit battery is really good as long as you have it connected to Wi-Fi in the safe Zone the battery lasts over a month however.. If it's not connected to Wi-Fi the battery will last maybe 2 weeks so keep that in mind but charging is straightforward pretty quick. The use of this app is also straightforward and continues to get better, it's pretty accurate on GPS however... If you wanted to track the unit within a safe Zone while its connected to Wi-Fi you are out of luck. If the Wi-Fi is on you would have to shut the Wi-Fi off to get the device to come online. I ran into an issue where buddy slipped out of his collar and his tractive was somewhere in the yard but not outside the "safe zone" I was able to successfully locate it using the Bluetooth range "radar" function however I couldn't connect to it until I was close enough so I had to walk around aimlessly in the yard until I finally connected it once I connected it it was really easy to find. In this case I didn't need to turn my Wi-Fi off but if I was having more issues that would have been my next step Do keep in mind once you're furry friend leaves the safe Zone it takes about a minute or so for the notification to pop up in the tracker to be online. I don't see that is an issue although it makes sense the tracker has to wake up out of power saving mode and then connect to a cellular network and GPS satellites, it's a process that has never failed us! These are one of those things that you will regret one day if you don't get it. It's essential!!!

Works surprisingly well despite hills and woods and poor cell coverage. Bought two of these for my Chesapeakes and they have given me peace of mind when one of them wanders a little too far on the farm or on hikes. Have held up despite daily swims for almost a year, but lately one of them has started dropping its GPS signal. Very frustrating when I am trying to live track my dog and the tracker will no longer work. I am not sure if it’s a wear and tear issue, I have had them for 11 months and my dogs are very active. The other tracker still works without problems as of right now. Either way, this tracker is smaller and less cumbersome than gps collars typically used for hunting dogs, and they don’t have the antennae so I like that, and if I have to replace them once a year to keep them working right for the price difference it’s ok. Before finding Tractive I was going to get Garmin gps collars that were $800 each. I decided to give these a try and figured I could return them within the 30 days if they didn’t work right. They sometimes take a little bit to pick up signal for live tracking but seem to be pretty accurate once they pick up. I don’t see the need to spend $1,500 on two trackers when I can get these for a fraction of the cost even if I have to replace them from time to time. The rubber harnesses that hold the tracker on the collar need routine replacing and one of my dogs kept dropping his tracker until I duct taped it in place. Also, one of the brackets on my other tracker snapped off so may need some refiguring on attachment mechanism. Giving 4 stars for one of trackers no longer working right. Not sure if there’s a warranty.

Works well, this replaced a pitpat which was just not fit for purpose, anything down to 24 hours battery life and fatal flaws in the app that leave you staring at your phone instead of looking for the dog. Tractive (admittedly the xl version) at this moment has 50% battery after 12 days and every time I open the app it just shows me where the dog is. The reason this works is that it uses your home WiFi to know that it doesn’t need to be active and using significant battery, so indoors it is just ticking over, it just rings in and tracks when it can’t hear your WiFi, which in most cases will likely be all the time it’s at home and not escaped! I imagine it would be a lot worse if you spend all day away from the house with the dog, but it’s able to have multiple WiFi networks set up so I can add the ones where I regularly go and it just works.
