It's impossible to go wrong with the current Blue Note series. The attention to detail and the quality pressings are just the best jazz experience you are going to get for under $50 per record.

As usual, Blue Note reissues are high quality and come pretty clean with descent inner sleeves.

Released a year after Think, this 1969 album is a very natural step further for Lonnie in his Blue Note career. Hornsection with Lee Morgan, Julian Priester and Bennie Maupin gives this album the right power for funky tunes with Lonnie trademark of B3 playing. The only "standard" tune is Eleanor Rigby, and I guess both Lennon / McCartney would smile to Lonnie's interpretation and arrangement. The good news is that Blue Note evenually released this album outside of Japan for a normal street price. A must have album for B3 collectors!

The domestic release sounds better than the Japanese release, I waited years for this, one of Lonnie's best...Jag

Later work is better.

Turning Point is organist Dr. Lonnie Smith's second release on the Blue Note label (Think! being the first). This 1969 recording features a few noteworthy performances (Slow High, Eleanor Rigby, and Turning Point). The remaining tracks are largely forgettable.
This recommended for fans of the organ combo in general and Dr. Lonnie Smith fans in particular.

Es una maravilla para todos los que aman el Jazz con el groove que aporta un Hammond como el de el Dr. Lonnie Smith.

The venerable organ man does it again, giving us some classic jazz/soul/funkish fusion from the late 60's. This album does not disappoint. Looking forward to other releases from this period of the immortal Dr. Smith.

... aber eben nicht so great wie der vorgänger THINK, der für mich sowieso einen ehrenplatz im regal hat. sehr schöne pressung, guter sound.

Lovely album from Lonnie even if ive had to convince myself the Eleanor Rigby cover is OK! Not a given that a BN Classic pressed by Optimal will come good 1st, 2nd or even 3rd time but my 1st copy is a total winner. Totally defect free, lovely quality vinyl as advertised! I like the gatefold and the continued use of a decent poly lined inner. Well mastered by KPG as per. At £19 a total no brainer!
