This review is for a 2pc set of strainers for a GE Opal ice maker, sold as Amazon ASIN B0DMCXRGVG by seller YullSorom. Note that the same ASIN can be purchased as one or two pieces, and I ordered the two piece set. TL;DR: they seem to be an excellent replacement for the original I think the description is a little misleading. The filtering function that these pieces perform is minimal at best. As seen in the product picture, they comprise a metal mesh inside a plastic housing, which is exactly the same as method as in the original GE part. However, this function is better described as a strainer, because GE (and other vendors) also sell an actual filter for the ice maker that replaces this part. While it is true that this product will stop large particles, animal hair, or other contaminants from going into the ice maker's innards, it doesn't stop smaller particles or chemicals such as chlorine from entering and affecting the taste of the ice. For that, one needs an actual filter, such as the GE filter which will filter carbon. GE even offers a more expensive filter which helps prevent scale. That difference aside, this product from YullSorom appears to be a good replacement for the GE strainer on our Opal 2.0 XL ice maker. It has the same dimensions and snapped into place just as easily as the original. According to the seller, it also fits the Opal 2.0 and Opal 1.0 ice makers, which I can't confirm but that makes sense because the GE filters also fit all three. The color also appears to be an excellent match, although I'd point out that since the strainer is hidden inside the bottom of the water tank in normal use, the color match doesn't matter that much. Note that as of writing this review, the 1pc set and the 2pc set are almost the same price, so if you think you need to replace this part, the 2pc is probably a better value because then you'll have a spare for next time.

I recently replaced this filter piece in our office's GE Profile Opal Ice Maker with the Upgraded Filter Piece Replacement. The old filter had become clogged and was discarded, but this new part snapped in effortlessly underneath the ice container and has been working perfectly since. We’re thrilled to continue having a reliable smooth ice-making process. Plus, the set came with two filters, so we now have a backup for the future. The strainer feature on the new filter seems to be doing its job well. These filters are indistinguishable from the original filters. It fit my Opal 2.0 Ice machine perfectly and it seems to be doing a good job. It's handy to have replacements on hand so I can wash the screens out and still have one in there.

Perfect replacement for the standard screen that came with my Opal 2.0 ice makers. I'm not really sure what is upgraded about them - they seem to be exactly like the OEM versions. Installation is a snap. I have not noticed any issues with restricted water flow or change in flavor since installing this filter. These should hold up a long time. They are much less expensive than the GE versions.
