We bought this to replace a different brand of ice maker that stopped working after a year and a half. The instructions are good - let it sit for 6 hours before initial use, or after tipping, so the refrigerant settles. Also use water with less than 50ppm’s. It has a larger water reservoir than our old machine and makes 9 ice cubes at a time vs 6 on our old machine. It makes ice quickly and yes, it makes noise, but less than our old machine, so we’re happy!

I'm very impressed with the speed at which this makes ice. Less than 10 minutes per batch is great for a unit this size. The cubes come in 2 sizes as shown in photo 4. The bigger one fits into the neck of small plastic bottles, making them great to put in an open water or soda bottle, but still be able to drink from the bottle itself. It holds enough water for 3 or 4 batches of cubes, which is reasonable. The one thing this unit lacks is built in freezer functionality. The cubes will melt, and do so rather quickly. I think the increased surface area of the open middle is the culprit. The good thing about the design, however, is that the ice basket sits directly above the water reservoir. This means any melting ice will just add to the water supply. The motor is pretty quiet but there are some clicks and mechanical whirs from the freezing plate and associated plastic tray. It's not too annoying and only really does this at the beginning or end of a cycle. I would definitely recommend this item. Just know that you need to either use the ice right away or stick it in a freezer pretty quickly. Also, keep it in the shade to minimize melting.

Click to play video When making ice, and starting at an empty basket, you can get good quality bullet ice from this machine. Leaving it on all the time, and taking ice as needed, generally, has you scooping half-melted fragile ice. It's not terrible, but not great either. I think the box would need real refrigeration and an insulated top to do better. The machine is a bit loud. It has ~120mm computer-type fan on the side that runs full speed when making ice. There are times in the day when it just runs for long periods even when it isn't producing any ice. I'll need to turn it off and on again to reset it. I tried to set this up with a smart switch so that it'd auto turn off at night and in the afternoon, so I'd have fresh ice when needed. Unfortunately, I'd have to also hit the power button on the machine. A programmable version of this would be better.

Wow. I really LOVE this ice maker. It is simple to use, not very noisy and such a great thing to have. The ice can be small or large bullet shape with the small indent on one end. The ice is dense and lasts a long time in drinks. I bought a plastic ice bin from a local store and can make enough ice to fill it in no time. It shuts off on it's own when full, so even if you walk away or forget about it, no mess. If the ice you made melts, the water go through the collection tray and goes back into the water supply. There is a plug on the bottom to empty it if needed. It comes with a removable ice bin, a plastic scoop and paper instructions.

This is a nice quick working ice cube generator. The cubes are rather small, even when the large size is selected. The production of the cubes is quite fast so it can generate a lot of cubes in a short amount of time. The cubes tend to melt quickly and they will stick together in clumps even if you remove them from the machine quickly. It is a nice machine to make lots of ice cubes, though.
