I love this little honey extractor. It's very convenient to have my own extractor rather than borrowing one from my beekeeping club. It works great and I was able to successfully harvest my first batch of honey with it. Great quality and very sturdy. Keep the box and use it to store the extractor when not in use. -------- Process: wash extractor and allowed to air dry use a sharp serrated bread knife warmed in hot water to cut the cappings off comb (collect cappings in a stainless bowl and strain the honey out later with a metal mesh strainer) extract two frames at a time starting the rotation slowly flip the frames once before gradually increasing speed to (protect the comb from blowing out) flip the frames again until the comb is clear give the empty comb frames back to the bees for them to refill strain honey through a double mesh strainer and use a stainless bowl or bucket to catch the honey ladle honey into sterilized glass jars using a canning funnel cover jars with clean sterilized lids Last steps: admire jars of honey and eat whole spoonfuls of honey! appreciate the bees and their hard work :-) ---------- It's tough to get the last bit of honey out of this extractor, but by tilting the extractor and using a silicon cooking paddle it was possible to remove most of the honey. The clear lid is a tight fit, but I got used to snapping it into place pretty quickly. The handle needed to be tightened a few times while I was using it and I don't exactly love the handle design- but, hey it still works. Clean up was simple and I washed it out on my deck using the hose, a rag, and some enviro-friendly dish soap. A bottle brush designed for cleaning water bottles helped to scrub out the bottom.

Pros: It's affordable It seems like it will last a few years Quick shipping Great customer service Cons: The speed controller is not very smooth Difficult to get the last few pounds of honey out It is a little wobblier than I would like (unmounted) Originally I had planned on buying a Maxant extractor but by the time I got around to ordering one I had capped frames and Maxant had a 6 week back order, presently 8 to 10 weeks. So I looked for something else and found this for less than half the price. It arrived quickly but was damaged in shipping. Customer service was quick to answer my emails (which included pictures and the order number) and had a new drum shipped out to me in less than 24 hours. After getting it all together I've used it a few times and it works pretty well for the price. I'll be satisfied if it lasts me 3 or 4 years. The speed controller for the motor is not very smooth. The motor doesn't move until I turn the dial to ~10, jumps up to speed if you turn the knob too quickly and you must have the dial at 0 before flipping the switch to ON. If you forget and leave the dial up the speed controller tries to get to speed as quickly as possible. The basket instantly accelerates to a speed faster than you have selected before slowing back down. This is easily remedied by turning the knob to 0 before turning ON or OFF. From what I've seen there are two main types of extractor, the kind that is designed to hold some honey below the basket and the kind that flows directly out of the honey gate. This is designed to hold honey under the basket. The pros to this are that the extractor gets a little more stable after extracting a few pounds of honey and if you start with the honey gate closed the motor won't be damaged by some honey in the bottom of the drum. You should not let honey fill the drum until the basket is dragging though. The con is that it is difficult to get that last bit of honey out of the drum. After turning off the extractor I have been putting wood blocks under the back leg to drain out some honey. Then tipping the extractor by hand as far forward as I can to get the rest but it is a pain. The extractor is also fairly wobbly if not mounted. The two quick fixes are to either mount it to a heavy base or to keep the speed lower and extract more slowly. Overall I would recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to crush comb or spend $1000+ on a Maxant.

This is a decent machine at a good price. I made several modifications that improved function. First, wrap the spindle cushion assembly (that holds the red star-shaped rubber coupler) with electrical tape... this will prevent uncoupling during vibrations that can occur at the beginning of the process. I do not believe that the taping will interfere greatly with the intended dampening function. Next, purchase and install metric M8 Knurled Clamping Nuts (Amazon B0987XQ8GQ) and/or Threaded Ball Knobs (Amazon B019RATXWY), replacing the nuts securing the top frame... eliminating the need for wrenches when cleaning. I use a 1/2 inch plywood base 4 foot square, or more, with carriage bolts that attach to the three legs using wing nuts. Storage is easy when not in use. When first spinning new frames, there can be vibrations due to imbalances. If this is the case, just use a lower initial spin setting. After the honey spins out of the combs, the vibrations will usually ease. It can help to spin each side twice to eventually allow a faster spin speed. The units legs are placed so lifting one leg allows tilting to better drain contents through the drain hatch. It would be nice to have a braking device, but that would add a major cost. Cleaning is easy with a pressure washer, but it is not a necessity.

I started with a manual spin extractor but my shoulders and arms could only work well for a short time. This electric powered motor will spin the basket that will hold 8 super frames in radial form-spin and it extracts from both sides at the same time, while the 4 deep, hive body frames sit so you have to spin the one side then you have to turn that hive body frame around to get the other side of the frame extracted. The motor has a dial to adjust the speed and a large emergency stop button. The top safety covers need to be in place before the basket will turn. I have used this extractor for many pounds of honey without any problems. So far, so good and this is a good price at the time I purchased my unit.

Très bon, arrivé en bon état, de qualité attention, la manivelle ne va que dans un sens lorsqu'elle tourne et n'a pas de frein ou de dispositif qui ferait qu'elle ne tourne pas en même temps lorsque l'extracteur tourne

Nice to have this small task extractor. The only inconvenience that handle does not have a free run. Its gear connected straight to the shaft.

100% happy. Bolt down on 3/4 ply base. I use a dewalt 1/2 variable speed drill (7amp). That way you can control the rotation speed.
