Attached this to my Xbox One for additional storage. Took less than a minute to recognize and move my titles from the internal hard drive to this one. Performs great and has a good amount of capacity to add new games. I currently have 99 titles and still have 1.3 TB left.

Figured it was finally time after around 8 years to replace my aging USB 2.0 external backup HDD from Seagate with its very slow 320gigs, especially now with my data well over hundreds of gigs with all my photo taking. Did my research as I usually do as there a total plethora of small HDD's out there nowadays which is good as consumers love choice and helps drive prices down. I really wanted a simple and integrated backup solution that did incremental backups like my old Seagate did. With Seagate drive still having the continual.... "tradition" of having failures, I figured it was time to go back to Western Digital for my needs. Pros: 1. Much faster USB 3.0 transfer rate, thank God USB 2.0 slowness days are over with. The drive would peak at around 140Mbytes during my backups vs the paltry 40Mbytes my old Seagate did 2. Basically inaudible but most laptop drives are nowadays unless they are total junk 3. Included software is easy enough to setup and does increment backups which is what I really wanted 4. Lengthy warranty and Western Digital reliability 5. Doesn't get very warm even during heavy usage Cons: 1. Be nice if they included a USB A- to USB C cable or adapter with USB C ports taking over in new cases 2. The glossy part is totally stupid vs older Passport models. It will become a major fingerprint magnet and show scratches very easily if you a frequent user of the drive. C'mon WD..... 3. I really wish the backup software DID NOT compress the data and instead left it in original form to save time having to decompress it when needing to restore files. 4. A built in cable that you cannot lose would be a nice addition

I currently use mine for external storage of my PS5, and it works very well. Simple to use as well.

By way of introduction, I am a bit of a data snob. Well, maybe more than a bit. Not only is my data incredibly important to me, so is the overall configuration of my computer systems. I know of more than one person who lost everything, including their on-site backups, to theft or fire. Not to mention the loss of finely tweaked and synergistic software. Loss of equipment is one thing, loss of data and their systems quite another. Since I already sent backups of my data up the internet stream for offsite storage, brilliant me decided that I should do the same for the backup images of my computer systems. Well, that lasted for one month, exactly. By the end of the month I was nail-biting as I watched our data usage soar, which ended up passing our limit by a significant margin (grimace). I of all people should have known better. Indeed, my internet provider actually called me (that was a first), wondering if I wanted a better package for downloading HD movies (grin). I tried to explain what happened, but their tone of voice indicated that they did not believe me, not even a little. At any rate, my original idea was immediately scrapped in favor of a much cheaper solution: physical hard drives. (Yes, I had that thought earlier but wanted to save some $$$….) I picked up two WD 2TB My Passport Portable External Hard Drives (what a mouthful) for my off-site backup solution. Disk image backups are placed on one drive, which is then taken off-site with my name neatly (cough) scribbled on it via a post-it note. The second drive lives on-site, gathering the most recent drive images. At the end of the week these drives are then swapped (at least for now). Presto, off-site backups. Purchasing two of the same drive conveniently allowed me to easily swap them, where the network and backup software sees them as essentially identical. Two distinct colors, black and blue, were chosen to help me, the human, keep them straight. In order to further mitigate my propensity for confusion, I picked up two similarly colored cases (an inexpensive Amazon special). As with all hard drives, time will tell regarding the longevity and durability of these. So far so good, and my data usage is back under control. I bought both drives and their carry-cases fair-and-square, and have not participated in the dubious practice of a paid review.

I've bought several of WD's external hard drive's over the years, and this one remains my favorite. It's easy to set-up/install, but please read carefully before you just madly accept any and all offers the program may encourage. Use this HD just for it's intended purpose: to back up your files and protect you in the event of a system failure and data loss. I purchased the 2TB My Passport. This is more than enough spacious realty for your files! If you're the average users, mostly backing up personal data such as photo, videos, and word docs, it may take you a lengthy amount of time to fill the Passport to capacity. The files transfer over at lightening speed. Transfers that were calculated to take a full day to complete occur in less than 5-10 minutes when using the WD My Passport. You can't beat it for all around portability and on-the-go needs!! I highly recommend regularly backing up your data in case of system failure, and WD's My Passport is a lower cost, and highy effective means to achieving that end. The peace of mind alone is worth the cost. This is a hands-down excellent product.
