I don’t typically write reviews for things I like, or don’t like. If I take the time to write down my opinion it’s generally to complain about truly being disappointed or on rare occasions, like this one, truly amazed. Having my expectations exceeded is a rarity, one in which I’m willing to put my time and words to paper - or screen. This, this is one of those exceptional experiences- and I can’t believe it’s over a mattress of all things. Buying a mattress shouldn’t be hard, but it is. It’s made harder by today’s advertising and BS. We no longer know what the best way is to buy the thing we’ve bought our whole life. Are we being ripped off? The answer is of course yes; but how do we solve that? The answer in this case is Zinus. Perhaps embarrassingly, I put more research into my latest mattress purchase than I did my last car. Maybe because it’s such a personal purchase and one you live with for such a long period of time. What you sleep on, and how you sleep, matters. A decade ago I bought my last mattress. It was a good mattress. It was very expensive. It served me well… for a few years. I extended it’s life far past it’s usefulness by adding memory foam and padding and then again by telling myself it was sufficient, for years. After at least a year of restless nights which I attributed to other causes I finally admitted to myself I needed a new bed. What a pain, literally. This began my research into what to buy and from where. If you’re looking at a Zinus then you’ve undoubtedly looked at the other major players in this category. They’ve sprung up all in the last couple of years because of one major reason - mattress sales are a scam. Unfortunately, so are online mattress sales for the most part. After a lot of research which you can do in your own time using Google, nearly all these ‘online mattress companies’ are actually made in the same factory using nearly identical material. They all add in their own exclusive features but they are mostly the same. The major difference being the name on the box it’s shipped in. Zinus is considerably cheaper than the rest. It is nearly identical to the rest. It’s cheaper because they lower their markup. It really is that simple. The big players in this game pretend to offer a great deal but then markup their mattress by 300% or more. Ask yourself why they can afford to let you sleep on it for 3 months, then pay someone to come to your house and take it to the landfill if you don’t want to keep it. They would literally rather pay someone to throw it away than to take it back. That’s how inexpensive it is for them to make them. The markup is so much that their product becomes disposable. This doesn’t mean they are bad mattresses. In fact, all those name brand online retailers sell great mattresses, nearly identical to the Zinus. They are just incredibly overpriced. Now my review - my mattress rant is over. I hope some find it useful. I bought the ‘Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch / Premium / Ultra Plush / Cloud-like Mattress, King’. With it I also bought the platform bed from Zinus - also because of the incredible price and which I’ll also review. (spoiler, it’s fantastic) The mattress comes compressed in a box of course. That’s how it works. Unlike some other manufacturers it fully uncompresses and is ready for sleep on day 1. There is no chemical smell because it’s not treated with the same nasty chemicals that some other manufacturers put on theirs. I’ve read a lot of ‘explanations’ from the other makers as to why they fill theirs with chemicals, none of which are convincing. My guess, is so that they can sit in warehouses for years and not get moldy. This is without a doubt the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. If it’s comfortable to you will of course depend on what your definition of comfort is. Zinus makes several different mattresses in varying degrees of firmness. I just happened to luck out buying the right one for me the first time, I think. This one is firm, but giving. It’s the kind of mattress where I can roll around on one side and it doesn’t effect my partner on the other side. You don’t feel movement unless it’s right up against you. At the same time it gives slightly, making it very conforming to your body. One of the most important things to me as a person who is generally hot all the time is that it stay cool, and this does. I didn’t realize it until I got this mattress but I believe one of my issues for such a long time, was being hot. I get no heat from this mattress at all. As an example of just how comfortable this mattress is, having not slept in it yet, I also purchased a very expensive and beautiful down mattress topper along with very beautiful, thick, luxurious sheet set. Ultimately I ended up sending all that back because honestly sleeping on the mattress itself with no other bedding under me save a thin fitted sheet is unbelievably comfortable. You’ll want as little as possible between you and the mattress. I’m not sure what I can say that would be more complimentary than that. I’ve had the mattress for a few months now and it really has been life changing. Not in a ‘save the world’ kind of way - but it has saved my sleep. I sleep well, and for the first time in years. A good bed makes a good difference. I’ve been a tad evangelical about this review only because it’s made such a positive improvement in my life- and for far less money than the alternatives. A few tips: Put your mattress on a VERY firm surface. This isn’t your old traditional mattress, you do not want it on a bed springs. If you can’t buy a platform bed now, put it on the floor. Do not add a bed topper even though your experience with your old mattress may incline you otherwise. Sleep as close to the mattress as you can. No topper, thin sheets. If you don’t believe you can buy a great mattress for hundreds less, buy the more expensive ones first (I did). There is no risk in comparison. Those other brands let you send it back within 90 days at no cost. Buy it, send it back, then buy the Zinus and compare. You can also easily send this back. I’d be absolutely shocked if anyone says they went with the more expensive brand after a comparison. I’m glad you spent the time to read this review. Now, do your research, compare, and buy this mattress.

This review is for the 10" Queen version of the ZInus Ultimate Comfort mattress. I chose this particular model for several reasons. First, it is manufactured by Zinus. Now, Zinus does not have the name recognition of Tempur-Pedic, nor the same high-end reputation, or prices. Various Amazon sellers sell at on of assorted Zinus mattresses under a bunch of names, and they mostly get very good reviews. This model, a 10" Queen featuring 3 inches of memorey foam over "2 inches Pressure Relieving Comfort Foam," on top of 5 inches of higher-density base foam, appears to be identical to other brands that receive 4+ star ratings over numerous sales here. Add to this the fact that this particular listing was both shipped by and sold by Amazon, and I felt I couldn't go wrong. And, of course, my innerspring mattress was 15 years old and needed to replaced. I received the mattress only today, and have only slept on it for a few hours, and will update this after a few weeks and maybe later. Prime 2-day shipping didn't fail me, and the 65 lb box was dropped right next to my house by FedEx. I handled the box fine myself but it was a little bigger than expected and without any handles, and a lot of people will definitely need help to move it up any stairs, if not move it all. Neatly packed, nothing extra, no cushioning needed. Some reviews of memory foam mattresses led me to believe they can take 24-48 hours to fully expand from their compressed shipping state. Others caution you to have the mattress at least near where you will ultimately sleep on it before you unwrap it. The second bit of advice is definitely worth mentioning; mine expanded and unfolded rapidly, reaching near-full dimensions in seconds. After wrestling it of the floor (I should have opened the plastic with it on the platform), I measured its height at 9 inches. Two hours later I found it a full 10 inches high. It is also a full 60 x 80, unlike many mattresses on Amazon that are undersized at 58 x 78 inches. That is a big deal to me - I want all of the 80 inch length a proper queen mattress provides, and filling out standard sheets without them being loose or baggy is a must. I have not had a full night's sleep as of this review, but I did take a quick nap, which turned into a very long nap. It is comfortable. This mattress cradles me enough, yet is still firm enough to be supportive. Time will tell, but my initial impressions of this mattress are that it will be great to sleep on, and that it is a real bargain. Update after 3.5 years: I love this mattress! I had concerns about the durability of a $230 mattress, but it is still perfectly comfortable and is holding up well. It is certainly on the firmer side, which was what I had hoped for, though it is soft enough to cushion my 190+ pound self very well. I've noticed none of the problems some reviewers mention: it doesn't "sleep hot," there was no off-gassing or strong smell, and the cover is just fine. I have no regrets about buying this mattress. When considering how much money I saved on it, it's easy to think maybe I should go ahead and replace it since it's been more than worth the price and is a few years old now. But it still shows little wear and looks like it should be fine for several more years. Note that sheets made for taller mattresses are commonly available these days, and sheets designed for a 14" mattress will fit loosely, but that's not this mattress's fault - it's solid (enough).

We have spent thousands of dollars on mattresses in the past 15 years! Within two years a trough in the mattress develops, not deep enough for a warranty, just deep enough to keep you in the trough. Since mattresses are not built to flip these days we have rotated our king-size mattress as recommended and with the same outcome. I am convinced that part of the problem is the two piece box spring. The two pieces box springs support the middle of the mattress exaggerating the trough on either side. Once we removed the box springs and put the 16" deep mattress on a solid base it was much improved. We should have done that from the start. We decided to risk it with this product! This mattress is one third the price of our former brand name mattresses. It recovered from the compression in the box very nicely and no bothersome odours or smell to speak of. It is firm when you lay on it but within a matter of minutes your body is supported comfortably into the mattress. We cannot say it has solved our back pain but it has certainly improved it. We find it easy to roll over and are please with the support it provides in all sleeping positions. We will have to see what happens with the trough development but at this price it would be hard to complain about!! We are very happy with this mattress after 60 days and would highly recommend it. As an individual interested in sales and marketing presentation, this company is a winner!! Humorous instructions and explanations and very thoughtful and everyday approach. Loved it!!

After watching a CBC marketplace revealing the high price markups, misleading advertising on mattress technology, the bogus sleep/health claims made by mattress companies, and that most mattresses are just fundamentally the same, we took a risk buying a bed online. We never saw the mattress or bed frame in person, and never tested them in real life before making this purchase. Neither the bed frame or mattress was recommended to us by friends; nobody we knew had tried this company before. We actually heard about Zinus products on Reddit of all places, and spent some time browsing the Amazon reviews before taking a deep breath and rolling the dice. After having this bed setup now for a month, I think I can give an honest review. Motion: This is a FOAM mattress, so no springs or coils. You don’t bounce well if you jump on this bed, but that means when you get up at midnight to pee or if you’re on overnight call for work, your partner won’t feel you getting in and out of bed so you don’t wake them. Also, the mattress covering isn’t too slippery, so the corners of my bedsheets never spring loose and fly off. It’s nice to wake up and not be tangled in a bottom fitted sheet that escaped in the night! Noise: Silent! Foam mattress means there’s no metal crunching or creaking! Comfort: It’s not like sinking into a basket of feathers, there’s a bit of firmness to it when you first lie down that softens up and shapes to your body within a minute or two. It’s not so firm that it’s uncomfortable though, and you can always purchase fluffy mattress pads for $100-$300 if you prefer something softer. I find it firm enough to give good lumbar spine support while soft enough to prevent pressure points, so you don’t feel stiff or achy in the mornings. It’s a great sleep! Height: I was worried about this bed being too low to the ground because it doesn’t need a box spring, but it is actually taller than my old bed. Mattress and frame together are 24 inches high. Assembly: Easy peasy. Had it together in 15 minutes or so. Not like IKEA furniture! Promise! Price: Can’t be beat! Mattress was the 10 inch thick King for $370. The king sized “Zinus Essential Upholstered Platform Bed Frame” was $235. Boxspring not needed and delivery free, so for a grand total of $605 we had a king size bed delivered right to our front door! Compare this to the store prices for a king mattress near us - $1500!! Not including the frame, boxspring, or delivery! I figured if I buy a bed online and it’s not comfy, I could always buy a $300 mattress pad to make it more soft or firm to my liking, and I’d still be saving money than if I bought in a store. But turns out, a mattress pad wasn’t needed at all! Temperature Control: Foam mattresses do tend to get warmer than interspring mattresses; I don’t personally find a heat/temperature/moisture difference between this mattress and our old coil one, but YMMV. Durability: It’s only been one month so too soon to tell, but so far so good. No sagging, still provides great support, Overall: Yes, it was nerve wracking to buy a bed online. But this one was so totally worth it. I’m now recommending this mattress to my friends and family and will definitely purchase again for our spare bedroom! Excelente colchón, es muy confortable descansar en el, llego en optimas condiciones y sin ningun detalle, excepto la caja en la cual se trasportaba que estaba algo maltratada y desgastada de las esquinas, pero el producto llego intacto, en un periodo de 12 hrs el colhon alcanzo la altura correcta, en comparación con otros colchones de Memory Form, no les encuentro diferencia.

Es un excelente producto, llego antes de lo esperado y en perfecto estado. Sí toma las 72 horas en tomar su forma final pero una vez que está listo queda bien, es un colchón firme, cómodo, y el material es muy bueno. Lo recomiendo mucho y lo he recomendado a otras personas que también lo han comprado. Además el proveedor tiene el excelente detalle de incluir una carta de agradecimiento por la compra del producto. Compre también la base de metal que se recomienda y quedan de perfecto tamaño, la base es fácil de armar y muy estable.
