I bought the Ecobee indoor smart camera along with the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera before leaving on vacation, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my home security setup. This camera allowed me to monitor multiple entry points in real-time while we were away, giving us total peace of mind. Reliable Monitoring for Every Entry Point: Setting up the camera was quick and straightforward, and I positioned it to cover a key entry point in the house. During our trip, the camera’s live feed and instant alerts let me check in anytime, providing an extra layer of security beyond just the doorbell camera. The clarity of the video feed was excellent, both day and night, and I could rely on it to see exactly what was happening at home. Great for Future Use: Now that we’re back, the camera is still proving invaluable. It seamlessly integrates with the Ecobee ecosystem, meaning I get alerts directly on my thermostat and other devices. I can also use it to check on our home in real-time, which is perfect for keeping an eye on things when I’m out. The fact that it doubles as a chime for the doorbell camera is an added bonus, making sure we’re alerted to any movement at the front door as well. Overall: Whether you’re going on vacation or just want to keep your home secure day-to-day, this Ecobee indoor smart camera is an outstanding investment. It’s reliable, easy to use, and gives you peace of mind, both when you’re home and away. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their home security!

Best-looking and feeling HomeKit camera I've tried! Setup was a breeze—no need for the ecobee app, I went straight to HomeKit. It connected to the network in under a minute and was ready to go. Some folks have grumbled about the video quality. Sure, it’s 1080p, not 4K, but honestly, 4K isn’t a must-have for me (or probably anyone). Others have complained about network issues—you need a good router to support streaming video, and a wired HomeKit hub (wired Apple TV) to ensure smooth video over the secure protocol. I can't speak for Google Home or Alexa, but I bet they require less because they prioritize convenience over security. The camera might be a tad slower than some competitors, but I'm hopeful for updates to the hardware soon. I'm planning to phase out all my “Eufy” and “Aqara” cameras in favor of the ecobee camera—not only to reduce the risk of overseas surveillance but also because this camera just works.

This is a very good quality camera. The picture is excellent and really captures a wide range of view. The auto arm and disarm functionality is great (it's based off your geolocation). The physical size was a little bigger than what I was expecting, but it's not abnormally large or anything. It is a wired camera, so it will need to be relatively close to an outlet. The power cord is fairly long, so you do have decent distance to play with. It is able to be mounted on a wall, or on its base so you have flexibility. It does have Alexa built in, but I haven't tried it with this device. I have a ecobee thermostat and switch, so I can only assume it's at least as good as those which is pretty decent. The camera is HomeKit compatible, but at this point it isn't Secure Video compatible. I really hope this gets added in the future as it would really set this apart from most other cameras on the market. The night vision is great and works well. I've had a few false alerts of motion detected, but I really think it depends on your home setup. I had a couch set a certain way in a room the camera was in and when it was armed, it would non stop alert me of motion (even though there wasn't any). For some reason it did not like the way that couch was facing to the way it looked as soon as I moved it, the false alerts stopped. If you want recordings or to view history, you will have to subscribe to their paid subscription (Haven I believe it's called). This is unfortunate, but seems to be the way all camera makers are going. I wish you could get at least like 24hours of recordings or something, but at this point, this isn't a feature.

Review update 8/6/23: Ecobee finally replaced our camera, over one year later. They were unable to provide a refund because it was purchased from Amazon. The new camera actually does work well with Apple Home Kit, but we cannot add both parents as users without purchasing another device to use as Home Hub (such as Apple TV). If you already have Apple TV, I expect this camera would work ok for your family. The camera still does not work with Ecobee’s app and will not load consistently. I’m still giving the product one star due to the difficult experience with Ecobee’s customer service and because it took a year to have our issue partially resolved. We have Ecobee’s smart thermostats and they work well, but I’m not likely to purchase further products from this company due to lack of customer support. Original review: We purchased this camera almost one year ago to use as a monitor for our second child. It has honestly never worked for us. The camera is very slow to connect to the app or will not connect at all. We get either a spinning circle or error, needing to refresh many times before we can see our baby. We have gone back and forth with Ecobee’s customer service - we tested the camera right next to our router, used a hot spot, reset the camera, reset our wifi. We have a different wifi camera for our older child that works just fine in our house. Customer service will not replace the camera despite it being under warranty and will not give us a refund. We currently do not have a video monitor for our youngest child despite spending $100 on this camera. I do not recommend this product.

I’m a fan of ecobee because of their quality made products. However, the subscription based storage is unacceptable. I know the subscription is not just for storage but also for other features of the camera that will be activated, such as fire alarm monitoring.

The Ecobee camera is an excellent addition to the Ecobee ecosystem. Installation is simple, and the image quality is excellent. While there have been some negative reviews, I have not experienced any of the reported connection issues. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality and smooth security camera.

Good indoor camera. I like it has the motion tracking without it having to rotate and move to keep the detected object in the field of view. It is less noticeable to the people in the room. It disconnects from Apple HomeKit from time to time but it is easy to set back to factory settings and reconnect to HomeKit. Hopefully it won’t be a problem with a future update. I like how it is Alexa built in. Why not Siri??? The thermostat premium has Siri and airplay 2!!! Hopefully with an update the camera will have it as well. Good camera. I do wish it was half the size of it though.
