I will never live without a Roomba in my house again. Over a decade ago I got an early version of a Roomba, this was long before apps or sophisticated mapping. The device was good for picking up dog hair and dust, but it moved around unintentionally and got stuck on a lot of things. I liked it, but it was a hassle at times. Wow, has iRobot coma a long way! Along comes this incredibly improved version that is still simple to run but has SO MANY great features: 1. Lidar Mapping: I'm incredibly impressed at how this device wandered around during setup to learn my space. I could follow along on the app and see how it recognized doorway openings, moved around furniture and generally understood where to clean. If you haven't used a robot with this feature, you'll find it impressive! 2. Mopping: To be fair, this is really more like "wet dusting" on the standard setting. It does have the ability to find and dig into bigger messes, but I prefer to do that with my manual mop. As someone who is allergic to but still lives with dog hair and dust, this is a great feature that generally keeps my whole house cleaner. 3. Easy to empty/change pads: The design of this device makes maintenance easy IMHO. Changing out brushes, paddles and mop covers is quick and easy. Yeah, they give you directions, but I didn't need to read them. 4. Overall design: This robot fits well under most couches and into corners all over my house. While there are some places it can't clean completely, those are easy to find through the app, so I know where to touch up when I need to do a manual clean. The water reserve is easy to fill and holds enough water for a few days of cleaning in my house. The quality and durability for this device at this price point is really impressive. (At time of writing, the list price is $320, with a 40% discount so the total is under $200.) This is available for the price point for a decent stick vac, and I'd have to manually run that! There are a few improvements I would like to see in this product, but they are mainly related to the app, which I'm sure will be updated over time. While the app does a good job of connecting to the wifi and mapping, sometimes it just doesn't respond when I try to start an unscheduled clean. Programming scheduled cleans are easy, but the readout could be improved so that I could tell if the cleaning is mop+vac or vac only without deleting the whole automation and starting over. The screens are sometimes very magnified on initial load, so I can't find my map at all. Basically, it seems like an early generation, so it needs to evolve a bit. The hardware works well, but I will say that it is only OK at avoidance detection for small objects (dog toys) or small pets. It does avoid furniture, boxes and people pretty well. For me, the superiority of the hardware makes up for the shortcomings of the software, and it's still GOOD software. As an introduction to robot vacuums, this is a wonderful appliance to have, and if you've used less sophisticated versions, you'll definitely be impressed.

Gotta say that this model Roomba is outstanding! At first setup I was able to quickly and easily map out our entire first floor which allowed the robot cleaner to make it's way around the house vacuuming up dog hair and other debris. I wouldn't say it's perfect at vacuuming dog hair... but I've since started running it twice a day it's doing a good job of getting most of the hair in the high traffic areas. THat is a another great feature in the mobile app is the ability to mark certain areas of your floor plan as "high traffic". After the initial map was created I went back and spent about 5mins to separate the first floor into rooms so I can easily have the Roomba run in the dining room, living room, or kitchen. Also I'm able to mark areas to NEVER clean and ignore, which is nice for cluttered rooms like our laundry room floor or the area where the dog beds are. So far the battery life is solid and the robot cleaner can tackle the whole first floor and vacuums for about 45minutes. I've only used the mop feature one time so far and was impressed by it being able to clean up the dog paw marks on the wooden kitchen floor. I didn't use any chemicals as I wasn't sure that would be ok, but I'll have to actually read up on the app on best mopping usage.

I can vacuum my first floor much faster than this robot vacuum. However, I don't vacuum that often. I got this so that it can vacuum at night more often. After learning the layout, I had it do the first cleaning. What would take me less than 5 minutes, it took about 45 minutes. But it was thorough as it picked up all the grains of rice I placed in different areas. I will be setting a schedule to vacuum every other night. The one issue I had is with the software. I wanted to change some of the room boundaries and each time I tried to save, it would error out. This is with the new Roomba software as the old one won't work with this new model. So until I can get that ironed out, I can't test the mop feature. I got that issue resolved - it seems robot vacuums could use with the occasional reboot. After rebooting, I was able to edit the map walls properly and a few other software issues seemed to have cleared up.

The Roomba 105 Vac has simplified floor cleaning, especially in households like ours that have pets and children. The installation process was remarkably straightforward, with the app effectively helping me to chart our region. Once mapping was completed, I could customize cleaning preferences for different rooms or quickly start the vacuum with a tap or through Alexa, which is convenient when my hands are full. The vacuum features strong suction, effectively removing dirt from corners, hardwood floors, and carpets, with its LiDAR navigation enabling it to avoid most obstacles and prevent falls down stairs. However, it can get caught in cables or thin carpets, requiring some “Roomba-proofing” in certain areas, and at times it struggles to return to the dock on its first try. While the Roomba isn't designed for deep cleaning like a conventional vacuum, it is highly effective for daily upkeep, making it a great option for those looking to lessen their manual vacuuming efforts. I had doubts about robot vacuums, but this model proved to be user-friendly and efficient. After just 15 minutes of setup and calibration using the app, I was impressed by its performance and range. It additionally notified me through the app when it temporarily got stuck, allowing me to quickly resolve the issue. While examining the dust bin, I was taken aback by the amount of dirt gathered. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the Roomba 105 Vac, especially considering its competitive price compared to similar models. It charges rapidly and, if it turns out to be long-lasting, will be an excellent investment.

Been running the Roomba 105 Combo around the house for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotta say—it’s become part of the family. First evening out of the box it did this slow “get‑to‑know‑you” lap, mapped the whole main floor (even the weird angle by the piano), and by breakfast the next day I was barking “Alexa, send the robot to the kitchen” like I had staff. It’s short enough to scoot under the sofa, and swapping the little water tank takes maybe ten seconds—less time than scrolling the web Suction’s no joke: coffee grounds, beagle fur tumbleweeds, the rogue popcorn kernel—gone. The mop side is basically a damp dust cloth that glides around, but if I turn on SmartScrub it’ll do a second slower lap and lift dried footprints by the back door. Best trick? It senses carpet and steers clear, so my shag rug stays bone‑dry. One charge handles my 1,000‑ish sq ft main floor; if the battery dips it toddles back to the dock, grabs a juice box, then finishes the job. Couple things to know: the app sometimes throws a fit when I redraw room lines—quick reboot fixes it. There’s no self‑empty base, so I dump the dustbin every other run (takes 20 seconds). And the bristle brush loves long hair; I do a little scissor surgery once a month. Honestly, tiny trade‑offs for never pushing a vacuum after dinner. ---what’s great--- +strong suction that actually pulls crud from corners +lidar map is spooky‑accurate, even lights‑off +automatically lifts the wet pad off carpet +easy schedules plus Alexa/Google voice control +washable pad & filter keep costs down ---what’s meh--- -no auto‑empty dock—you’re on bin duty -bristle brush hoards long hair -app can freeze when editing the map Bottom line: want floors that stay “pretty clean” without you lifting a finger? Grab this little guy. It won’t replace a deep mop, but my hardwood looks freshly dusted every day and the upright vac is gathering dust in the closet
