I've been under the impression that as long as you wipe your nails with alcohol during nail prep that nail dehydrator wasn't necessary and mostly just a waste of money but I have to admit, I was wrong. I kept finding that rubbing my nails with alcohol not only was drying out my fingers since they would come in contact with the alcohol but the cotton squares I was using would always leave lint on my nails. My solution to that was to use alcohol wipes but its such a waste having all that packaging from individually wrapped wipes so I figured I'd try out this dehydrator to see if it was any better. I was really impressed first off by the size of the bottle. I fully expected it to be a much smaller size. For someone like me that only does their nails occasionally, I feel like this bottle will last a long time if stored properly. I was also worried that it would have some terrible, unpleasant smell to it but the scent wasn't to bad. The product is super easy to use as you brush it on your nails like you would a polish and it dries almost instantly removing any oils from your nails. This is great to use before you apply polish whether it's gel or not or before putting on press ons, doing extensions, etc. This product helps lengthen the time all of those things last and helps the polish, liquid glue, glue tabs, etc. to adhere better to your nails. This dehydrator has definitely won me over and I would absolutely recommend it.

This is super easy to use, you get a ton of it, and it dries basically instantly! It's a pretty great product. And you can see the difference on your nails from the ones that you've used this on to the ones you haven't. I've been doing my own gel nails for years, and I've used this product a few times now. To be fair, it's not a make-it-or-break it product. But anything that will help the gel nails stay adhered to your nails for as long as possible is a great addition. And it should last you for quite a while.

This is only the second product of this type I have ever used. The first came in the original nail kit I purchased some time ago and was rather small. This bottle is a bit larger, and it appears that it will be able to last much longer. If it continues to perform well during my home nail sessions, (until I use it all up), I would definitely purchase it over and over. It works just fine alongside the other items in my kit. I am no chemist, but I could not discern any performance difference between it and the first product I used, both labeled for this specific use. This is a necessary prep product in my opinion as it helps to ensure a properly applied faux nail that will stay on.

This has been a lifesaver for my nails, I’m so glad I got it! The bottle is a great size and has a nice design, and the product applies super easily with no mess. Since I started using this, my nails have lasted much longer than usual. It really makes a difference! If you want your artificial nails to stay put, this is the most important step, prepping the nail plate right. The nail dehydrator helped create a strong foundation and totally prevented lifting for me. I’ve used it with gel polish, acrylic, and nail art, and it’s worked great every time. I’m extremely happy with this product!

This nail dehydrator works great! I typically clean my nails with rubbing alcohol before starting a gel manicure. However, this dehydrator seemed to work better, since it dried even faster and was easier to apply precisely, so it didn’t dry my cuticles. So far, I haven’t gotten any peeling or had any issues, meaning it also removed all the oils on my nails before the gel went on. I’d recommend!

I have a tried to do my own gel nails several times, but the polish always starts to peel off in a few days. I mentioned this at my last appointment at the beauty school, and was told that I needed to try a nail dehydrator. So I ordered this to try, and it has really worked for me! The gel doesn't start lifting and peeling after a couple days. It still eventually peels and my DIY isn't as durable as the salon, but this product made a huge difference. It is very simple to use and just adds one minute to my prep routine.

Get Your Tinsel in a TangleReviewed in the United States on April 18, 2025

This stuff is the unsung hero of my press-on era. You want your nails to actually stay on your fingers and not fling off dramatically mid-grocery haul? Start here. One swipe of this dehydrator and suddenly I’m a licensed nail tech in my own bathroom. (Mentally. Emotionally. Not legally. Let’s not get crazy.) It dries in seconds, doesn’t sting or smell like I’m about to perform a chemical experiment, and best of all? It actually works. My glue grips better, my nails last longer, and I don’t get that dreaded corner lift that turns into a full-blown flap by day three. I’ve done dishes, wrangled wrapping paper, opened mail like a rabid raccoon—and my nails didn’t budge. Whether you're a gel girlie, an acrylic enthusiast, or deep in your press-on chapter like me, this little bottle is a must-have. It’s not flashy, it’s not scented, it’s not pink and sparkly—but it gets the job done. And that, my friends, is what we call character.

If you want to properly prepare your nails for a manicure or attaching press-ons a product like Modelones Nail Dehydrator is essential. I like to wash my hands after removing polish to remove the oils and residue, and this ensures a nice, dry base. It's easier than using regular rubbing alcohol--just brush it on and wait for it to dry. The main ingredient, isopropanol, is the same alcohol used in rubbing alcohol, but this product has two additional ingredients listed on the package, ethyl acetate and isobutyl acetate. Not sure what function they perform, but this seems less drying and it does prepare the surface of your nails well. I don't know if it makes a huge difference vs. regular alcohol, but I did get my usual 3 weeks without the polish peeling. (Anything longer than that and my nails look like they had a half manicure because they grow rather fast.) If you're looking for an effective and convenient alternative to rubbing alcohol, this is a good choice.
